? German megabrew vs American megabrew = German all day. But in terms of all beer (micro/macro breweries) Americans have the best beer in the world.

well the 3.7 vs the 3.5 was fairly significant. 20hp and nearly 30ft/lbs torque. Didn't help much in 0-60 but the 3.7 had a more sporty powerband. But yeah the 2.7 vs the 2.0 was a much bigger jump.
  3. That sounds like 100% negatives... that sucks. I see the remnant of the center dash cubby.. looks like it lost a tooth.
  4. That is impressive. The 335 here would just look like a typical teenager car here unless you know BMWs to identify it as a rare model. Would make a nice sleeper and efficient daily driver.
  5. Thats pretty darn quick... but it better be for $70,000 ... Still not a fan of BMW but they have definitely done well with the M line performance.
  6. They replaced my TC for the bucking and flares. Ask them to disable the lockup solenoid and see if it still does it.
  7. There was someone here that got mismatched exterior trim it was chrome I think on one side.
  8. Don't worry to much about depreciation. It will do better than any non AMD Mercedes and non M BMW for sure (Closest price/size feature competitors) and about on par in % with Hyundai and Honda. Being a Sport model it will always hold a unique appeal to the right buyer also so it can beat the trend.
  9. My 2011 Sport did very well I traded it after 8 years for over 30% of original purchase price. Also so far according to KBB my 19 ST looks to be doing pretty well also. Depreciation seems about the same as anything else on the market.
  10. I think I understand. I failed to factor the torque even outside the peak powerband in a lower gear vs the torque within the powerband with less multiplication provided by a higher gear. The only issue though now with a 5500rpm shift point is the close gear ratio has you theoretically enter 3rd gear at 5000rpm at 45mph and shift again at 50mph. I guess that is where the skipped gear comes into play. Skipping 2nd shifts into 3rd at 31mph and 3500rpm (Theoretically).
  11. It isn’t faster as is. I suspect Ford protects the trans by shifting outside of peak power and likely torque targets help keep it in the safe zone. It may be part of why an SQ5 is faster with similar specs but a better transmission.
  12. I just did some quick math to help the discussion further. I'm sure there are alot of other variables and potentially even errors. Feel free to look it over and see what you think. From my calculations though using our known final drive, tire diameter and the 1st 6 gears we should have shift points under 5000 for maximum effectiveness. revving beyond 5k just shortens the effectiveness of the next gear and pulls it further out of the power-band. Average shifts should be 4556RPM according to my math (please someone check it) Gear Ratios.xlsx
  13. The Edge ST shows on dyno tests that peak torque is just over 3000rpm and peak HP is just under 4000 rpm. After 4k rpm the power output trails off and it falls on its face well before redline.
  14. Did they mention anything at all about the bucking? It should never buck when changing gears and there is no excuse for it. Did you get a service report with detailed description of the trouble shooting methods? It would also have the customer complaint spelled out.. if it is not exactly what you told them you need to complain to Ford. Definetly try another dealership though... they are talking completely out of their butts... "4th gear is an overdrive gear....." 5th is 1:1. By no definition is 4th an overdrive gear in the 8F57.
  15. I think the 8F35 comes from the GM 9 speed design which doesn't share ratios with any of the existing transmissions. The 8F57 is a 6F55 but modified with 2 more gears it retains all the same ratios as the GM 6T70.
  16. Did you remember to turn off traction control? Even to 60 you should have been a bit faster than the passport. After 3rd it should seemed like he dropped anchor though.
  17. And trans/halfshafts/driveshaft/PTU. It’s not designed for the drag strip.
  18. Boost is very limited in 1st and 2nd. It’s hard to notice since your out of 1st soo fast. Peak boost is somewhere around 16-20psi. You will be lucky to see 10 until after 2nd gear without a tune. It’s a noticeable hit once it’s up and moving. It won’t roast the tires off even with traction control off despite having plenty of torque.
  19. Same for fiesta and focus. They weren’t that drastically different than the regular models. Smaller the car the more fun it is with a bit of added power and a brake lock diff but the focus RS is an example of a full performance version.
  20. It’s just an ST. It’s not an RS or Shelby the STs really don’t warrant years of testing or full redesign of the base vehicle. They are meant to be a fun version of the original car without a giant leap in price.
  21. It’s because the air out of the vents is being use to heat the entire interior of the car. It will output much hotter air until cabin temp is reached. If it output air at your desired temp it would take much too long to reach your preset temp.
  22. Thats funny, I have also seen a ton of raptors. My co-worker even has one. Around here the most common interesting cars are Tesla Model X/S/3, Maserati and Jaguar. I see far more of those than any ST.
  23. Here in CT I have seen more STs in the last year than sports. There is a sport I see daily in a parking lot next to my job and an ST at my sons doctors office every day. I saw another ST on my way to the movies on New Year’s Eve and a few others heading towards target. I have only seen 1 explorer ST and it was a preproduction review car loaded with cameras.
