  1. Your case is not typical. You will find most get around the EPA estimated mileage for both city and highway. Even my short commute and no warm up results in nearly the claimed city mileage. Also I use sport mode very often and wore out my tires in just 15k miles.
  2. Agreed. My commute is 3 miles each way and I average 16mpg. Highway I get 24mpg (85mph Average)
  3. The market is crazy. Its approaching what I paid for mine as a factory order. I get dealer letters offering 90% of my original purchase price from December 2018.
  4. Isn't that what we do? We make things go fast that aren't supposed to go fast and we make things that are fast go even faster. Ford felt the market existed for a cheaper hot CUV than was was available from the Germans. You will have trouble finding a non tuned/tweaked or modded X5 NON 40i/Base older than 4 years. Subaru WRX break half-shafts if you look at them and it doesn't stop anyone. Focus ST motor swaps are becoming commonplace. Aftermarket analyzes the failure and develop stronger parts to prevent it. That $2000 (after core) transmission cost is a drop in the bucket. A tuner would have it built if it blows.
  5. In park it will not build much boost. I really believe its the turbo you are hearing with high frequencies tuned out and heavily muffled.
  6. Absolutely. But many are willing to void their warranties anyway... Ford should let them. You cant expect the same durability with a 100hp+ tune. Ford seemingly doesn't even want it launched hard on the stock tune for some reason. At this point we really don't know what point is the weakest link.
  7. We don't know that yet. Besides, we can use something to help drive the aftermarket for transmission upgrades. So far the Case and torque converter have been the weakest links. Case might just be casting faults and torque converter just bad batches.
  8. You think the sport is less soccer mom-ish than the ST? I couldn't disagree more. Any CUV/SUV will have some of that stigma but the ST for me looks and rides how the sport should have. Just need to remove the torque limits so we can really play with it.
  9. I have always gotten what i presume to be intake noise in the cabin under heavy acceleration. Could also be stray frequency from muffled turbo not cancelled by the ANC system. Never sounded concerning and in fact kinda sounds cool.
  10. Not really a flaw.. The wipers should only be flipped up when washing or servicing the glass. No real reason to hit the ignition switch with them in that position. Cylinder deactivation on the dodge plus a better drag coefficient let it match fuel economy numbers to the edge on paper. So yes the dodge running with 4 cylinders can match the edge when running on all 6. How exactly did you mess up the wheel? Steering input will re-start the car, take a bunch of effort because of no power steering though. For me its a great feature and definitely saves me some fuel (although miniscule). Dropping someone off at the bank I just hold down the brake, I'm seldom in traffic so no stop and go annoyance. Sounds like an issue with the engine microphones. Early builds (pre December 2018) had the piped in engine noise turned up very loud and sounded awful. It was since tuned down/removed and even with an ear to the speaker its hard to notice now. The BMW X5 40i likely makes around 400hp. BMW is known for underrating their vehicles and dyno tests show the X5 making the claimed 335 at the wheels.
  11. I believe you get more boost in 1st gear on the 2018 and older 2.7 edges. My 2019 with traction control off chirps tires several times on a run to 60 with stock tune but it wont just spin them though. The stock tires don't make a lot of noise though and with windows up and music playing you might not even notice.
  12. I don't think you will notice .2 seconds to 60mph in the seat-o-pants meter. Real world says the ST is actually quicker anyway though.
  13. Get a tune. Torque targets are still there but many of the tuners can get a few lbs more off the line and you will be breaking tires loose easily. You can break torque launch it also and get 4-7lbs at launch. It enough to trigger the traction control for sure and will rearrange anything in your cargo area.
  14. Likely mostly due to Ford limiting boost in the first few gears. Stock tune with traction control off pointed straight will barely break lose the tires. BMW also always underrates their power numbers. The 3.0 likely makes upwards of 400hp.
  15. I would not be surprised if the 2021 run the same programming as the post TSB vehicles. I don't see any reason for the 2021 to be any faster since 2nd is skipped anyway (even pre TSB its skipped under heavy acceleration). They likely call it a 7 speed to avoid lawsuits in the future.
  16. That would make sense. Thanks.
  17. US spec? From all Fords literature the liquid cooled version was introduced in 2019... that is interesting.
  18. It is. The 2019+ ST has a liquid cooled PTU.
  19. First off.. I have a 2019 so I cant completely talk to the 2020 models but for the most part they are identical. In fact the 2020 omitted a few features the 2019 has. - seeing that car sales are way down across the board, how desperate do you think dealers are to get rid of what appears to be a huge inventory of 2020 models? The ST being the least produced model may mean they are more willing to hold on to them rather than sell them at a loss. - the interior in my 2016 creaks and rattles like crazy. are the 2020 models better? The 2016 interior is only a bit different than the 2019+ and any 2020 models haven't really stood the test of time. My 2019 doesn't have any rattles yet that I notice. My sons booster seat and all my umbrellas/grocery bags and ice scrapers in the back make more racket than the car. - i find the road noise to be pretty bad in my 2016, both on the hankook original tires and the michelin winter tires. any improvements there? The ST has laminated glass and additional sound deadener. The stock continentals are pretty quiet and in general its a nice quet ride. At highway speed I can hear wind noise but its far less than any Honda but much more than a Mercedes. - the headlights on my 2016 absolutely SUCK. I live in a somewhat rural area and there is a lot of wildlife; bears, cougars, racoons, and millions of deer. I can't see didly at night. How are the LED lights in the 2020 ST? good? fair? excellent? the fact that there are fog lights would help light up the side of the road a bit which would help a lot. The LED headlights are fantastic. I don't have the adaptive lights and I don't regret not getting them. From what I understand the non adaptive lights have a wider beam to make up for the static line of sight. They are 1000000000X better than the halogen projectors my 2011 had. - finally, i'm wondering if i can keep a few accessories from my '16 and use them on the '20; 18" winter wheels and tires (no big brakes package on the '20 ST), rubber floor mats (original ford), the plastic tray in the cargo area (also original ford), the cargo area cover. the 2019 and onwards was just a cosmetic refresh and not a new car, right? my guess is that all this stuff will fit. There is no actual "big break package" on the ST. The brakes are the same size but with the calipers painted red and different ventilation on the front rotors. Your wheels 18" and up should fit. All of your items should fit fine still.
  20. https://gearsmagazine.com/magazine/diagnosing-the-erratic-shifting-fords-8f35-57/ Pretty much everything you need to know here.
  21. Saw this article and thought its a great place for it here. https://gearsmagazine.com/magazine/diagnosing-the-erratic-shifting-fords-8f35-57/
  22. Yeah unfortunately. There may be design changes that don't allow the use of the 2020 pan on the pre-18 models.
  23. There is actually 2 .. one is 19-2387 for 2018-2019. the other is 19-2219 for 2015-2017. OP said they have a 2019 ST though so the 19-2387 should apply.
  24. Mine is in the shop for the oil pan leak. I'm in a 2020 explorer SXT loaner for at least a week. The pre-2020 pans are not gasketed and are very prone to leaks. There is a TSB that updates it to the 2020 style gasketed pan. Main rear oil seal leak is new to me though... that definitely sucks. Hopefully it was just oil from the pan blowing around making it appear it was the oil seal.
  25. Yeah its unchanged other than the door was removed. I cant even stand to leave mine open when the phone is plugged in. It would really bother me to not have the door.
