  1. I would say there is nothing wrong with the core itself. The problem is that there is some sort of foreign body in the box itself that keeps blocking the drain lines. That $1000 is likely pure labor since they have to take it all apart to get into it, and IMO is entirely too much. There has to be someone in here that has done an evaporator core or heater core swap on one of these cars that can give some advise on if this is a job you can do yourself. I have done a similar job on my 86 Lincoln mark vii and it involved complete dash removal. There was a shortcut that involved cutting open the heater box and actually using a CD jewel case as an access panel. I did it the hard way in about 3 hours while shopkey quoted it as a 10 hour job.
  2. I love mine.. I sometimes have funky lazy shifts to and from 2nd but MFT V2.8 works great and I actually like driving it more than my harley.
  3. Every car i have/had does this. I always keep my cars waxed and simply washing them cleans it off easily.
  4. Yep the squeek almost like tire squeel but not quite. Very annoying at times and only happends taking right turns.
  5. I have had my 2011 sport AWD since april and have noticed lazy shifts from time to time. I figured it was just learning or the fact that i was comming from a CVT car after 5 years and forgot how it feels when an auto shifts.... although my F250 diesel shifts FAR smoother. Today driving back to work after my lunch break i was doing around 40-45mph and BOOOOOOM! It felt like i ran over a hand grenade. I was too startled to even notice if the engine stumbled or if i lost power to the wheels. I seriously thought something exploded in my car. Even pedestrians walking on the sides of the roads stopped and looked from 30' away. I coasted down to around 20mph and regained my composure while doing a quick check in the car, testing my brakes and power steering showed all systems were ok. The car actually drove fine back to work the rest of the way. After work i took it around town with the radio off to listen for anything odd. Little whine noises came and went and subtle crunching and clicking from time to time, but i realized that i had never actually just listened to the car with the radio off and windows down. It drove and shifted fine though. I have an appointment on 8/6/11 for my complimentary oil change and i plan to bring a print out of TSB 11-56-6 with me. Ill see if i can get one of them to test drive it.
  6. I saw this vid on crackberry.com and i couldnt help to notice the very stock looking dash in a very familiar vehicle. A QNX based system would be GREAT! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AS3XlUNmX-A
  7. Im 6'2" and have no problem at all. Im comming from a Dodge Caliber though... in that car my leg actually would develop a bruise from the center console after a long trip. In my Edge i can comfortably sit without touching it or lean my leg on it if wanted. The greatest thing about the edge is that with the seat in a position that i feel comfortable im not looking out the rear window! I can even sit in the backseat with the seat in the same position (As long as driver entry assist is deactivated).
  8. Washing the car does not help the slightest bit. It only takes a few hours for tree junk to accumulate on the car and eventually in the sweeps. It all gets trapped in the felt portion and even with the window down is difficult to clean out. Im afraid that if so much is making it onto the felt surface of the sweeper that alot must be getting in the door as well. I need a picture of the sweepers on another 2011 to see if mine are defective.
  9. You should always drop your hood on any car. Never push on it to close it. Rubber seals can be a little stiff and take some pressure to compress when closing. Pressing on the hood puts your hand on the paint and flexes the metal when you push on it.
  10. I just noticed my first real complaint with my car. The dew wipes on all 4 doors are always loaded with pollen and junk. They also dont actually even contact the window enough to wipe dew from the windows. Is this common with 2011 models or an isolated defect. I have never had a vehicle with that problem and currently own 3 fords.
  11. If it seems just like the same noise but louder do you think maybe it could be something as simple as missing insulation somewhere?
  12. I believe i have this problem as well. I thought it was just the slant in the road for a while but eventually decided to try driving on the wrong side of the road to test it and it tracked dead straight rather than pulling left. Also i hear chirping during right turns if I'm doing anything but a crawl. Does not occur in left turns at any speed.
  13. Try going out to get in your car at 4am on a monday only to find that your key doesnt work. Its not like people carry a stockpile of 2032 type batterys in the pantry. My harley has a similar key system and its a PITA when the battery dies... especially if your not at home. There is always another way to start the vehicle, but is a gimmick worth the embarrasement and the hastle?
  14. wow reminds me of the old reverse stall issue my 86 lincoln markVII LSC had. Apparenty it was fairly common and remains unsolved. It did it maybe twice ever in 8 years before i did a 351w swap. Only happened in reverse and always started right back up.
  15. In my sport you can go through all 6 gears. I thought all the selectshift cars were the same minus the paddle shifters.
  16. Just be aware that the keyless system will go through fob batterys ALOT faster and if there is ever an issue it makes using the car inconvenient to say the least. I had the option to go with one with it and one without. I thought about the time frame i expect to keep it (5-10 years) and decided that 1 less thing to go wrong is the better way to go.
  17. I have been somewhat dissapointed in the sony system in my 2011 sport. My dodge caliber was far superior in sound quality and range with the "music-gate" system. The stock speakers definetly will be replaced ASAP. At times it bugs me so much i just turn the radio off. Sirius radio sounds all out awful and for some reason HD radio sounds quite a bit worse than regular radio. CDs and MP3s sound ok but thats where the speakers them selves show their weakness.
  18. I just had 2.8 installed from 2.4 and love how much faster it is. Screens have animated transitions now that they didnt have before and there is no major delays. One big problem them... I no longer have sync services at all! Looks like i have to head back to the dealer and go without my car for another day They gave me a filthy, smoke smelling 09 focus as a loaner. I think this time ill take the shuttle.
  19. Agree 100% .. The ecoboost 3.5L in the F150 gets worse milage than the 3.7L. I would love to have the extra torque but Im sure it would end up costing me speeding tickets and tires. A direct injected 3.7L making 340hp and over 300f/lbs torque would be awsome. Or even with the same power if it matched the NA 2WD 3.5L fuel economy numbers I would be very happy.
  20. I LOOOVE my edge sport, but if your comming from a civic as your only vehicle you may get sticker shock at the pump. Nearly 19 gallons of $4.19 gas = $$$$.
  21. I love my 2011 Edge sport AWD so far. Its only been a week and the only problems i have had so far is that 2 numbers on my old blackberry 9530 (storm) wont transfer. It transfers the name, phone, facebook info and birthdate but not the number. Also HD radio sometimes studders and has volume fluctuations... but this is my first HD radio so for all i know that may be common. Other than those few MFT issues its been AWSOME! I love the power and ride to no end.
  22. The dodge served me well.. but I have always been a ford guy for sure. I also own a 2001 F250 diesel and a 86 MarkVII LSC with a 351W swap.
  23. Hi from CT! Loving my new Edge sport. Traded in a 07 dodge caliber R/T AWD and very happy with the change.
