2011 Edge/MKX My Touch and Sync Problems
tpm419419 replied to akirby's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Googles maps no longer sync you need to use MapQuest which works perfectly. If you have a smart phone there is an app called "Send to Car" which is great. simply copy an address from your contacts or type one in -
I'll be happy to replace my 2013 with that in 2 years

He is saying to move the mirror either using the electric mirror control or by hand so it's tilted in leaving a larger gap on the outside between mirror glass and housing. When you get the flathead screwdriver in position simply rotate the screwdriver causing the mirror glass to come away from the motor. May need 2 or 3 points of contact to totally pop mirror glass off

DRL's Daytime running lights
tpm419419 replied to BlazedUp's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Keep in mind that according to Daytime Bright lights it will void the warranty on the lights. This will mean you just use the original factory wire plug connector. It will also have 2 additional wires coming out the side. One wire goes to the power wire for the turn signals (so when you activate the turn signal the new light strip also flashes amber) Now with me having the factory DRL turned on it means I will have the AMBER LED light strip always on. The 2nd wire goes to the headlight power wire that tells the LED strip to dim as they will be TOO bright at night. Doing it this way you will not need the supplied power harness that connects to a power module with a wire running to the fuse panel under the hood At any time the strips can show only the LED amber strip or the white LED strip NOT BOTH. So at night if driving the White LED's will be on, if you turn on the turn signal the one side will alternate amber and white until the turn signal flasher is cancelled Hope this helps -
DRL's Daytime running lights
tpm419419 replied to BlazedUp's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
I actually have them sitting in my garage. I have a 2013 Edge with the DRL's turned on by the dealer. So I will install these and use the original power wire on the existing light strip. This will give me both the amber Ford DRL (turn signal bulb) as well as an amber light bar strip. At night the new light strip will be white and will be brighter then the original factory strips -
I believe they said it was an issue with early build units. Mine was built in Sept. 2010

I had this issue on my 2011 Edge. They had to replace the actual camera which solved the problem

Ok. I hope you have much better luck with the new one. Please let us know

And..... Any changes at all from the 2013 model year?

The old mirror with part of the motor still attached. So guess the clips are part of motor assembly New mirror glass You would put a small flathead screwdriver between those raised black extenders on back of mirror and then while twisting the screwdriver the mirror will pry off the mirror motor. Looks like 3 places in picture where you would place the screwdriver
-
Sure look at thread #10 you will see the glass and a motor behind it. Turn mirror inward and with a flathead screwdriver simply get behind the mirror and twist the screwdriver pushing the mirror away from the motor, it should pull the mirror glass away from the motor platform. The mirror glass itself has plastic clips that snap onto the motor platform and by getting the screw driver in between the two and simply twisting the screwdriver the mirror glass will pop away. May have to do on two opposite sides. If you do it wrong at worst you will need to replace the motor (50-60.00) If your mirror is heated you will need to disconnect the wire on the rear of the glass after you remove it Good luck

I was one of the first to purchase these. I have NOT installed them yet so the question is should I? What is the percentage of units with bad plugs? Thanks

There is also a very good phone app "Send to Car" for both IOS and Android. Great for copying addresses from your phone book -

Yes I do have it. Subscription automatically comes with it -
The "turn signal bulb" is definitely utilized in the factory DRL config. So the opposite is occurring. The hot feed is being interrupted or disconnected to make them blink
