  1. What I got out of that was that Ford has updated their app that they created to help people learn to navigate the system and this new update has the temp back in the center of the screen. I had been told by my dealer that Ford was working on the bugs of the rewrite but hadn't heard from any other sources; but if they updated that app it would appear they are working on it and about to release something. I guess it is time to check out SMR for any updates available.
  2. Wow that would be great news....I am still having a few issues with mine after the update but if they were indeed working on an update that would be great and to get the temp back would be awesome.
  3. You can always try voice commands. I haven't had the best of luck but many find it much easier. You can request it to play a song, artist or album. I think you can even ask it to play similar music but this requires that the ID3 tags are useful.
  4. But if google and mapquest only send a destination isn't it sync services that determines the route? The same one you just said seemed somewhat outdated? Or by out dated do you mean the POI's are outdated compared to google, mapquest and built in nav? Just curious because if there is a better way to use this nav I would love to know. I have some time to test things out before our road trip at the end of summer. Ladybird...as a side note, do you have a listing voice commands? Most of what I have seen are just samples of what you can do. Just curious because sometimes I swear what I have to say is different and wonder if this is part of the issues I am having with voice recognition. For instance, sometimes if USB music is playing I think I can say play some artist, but other times I think I need to say USB, then play artist. Not sure what the difference is at these moments or if I am just imagining this.
  5. Unless they have changed things this isn't quite true. You can go to google or mapquest and send a destination address to sync services and in turn to the vehicle but you can't send the routing from either website to you vehicle. So while sync services may provide a different routing than the nav unit it still isn't a customized route that you can make easily on google. I really wish Ford would add this functionality because the nav routing is often painful and I simply don't trust it. Perfect example was a few weekends back I took the family out and the routing took us the long way, but on the way back it took the expected route. I have it set to default to quickest way and no longer have traffic so this is definitely a quirk in the software. Saw the same thing on a much longer trip last year and I am worried about this summers road trip to the Outer Banks. I simply don't trust this nav unit. My TomTom I got on clearance at Target for 30 bucks blows it away in accuracy, functionality and user friendliness. Just did a quick double check...unless neither site has updated its walk through to send to sync they clearly say destination only.
  6. Lots of times when I know better I just go that way and wait for the GPS to catch on. But I really do wish it had the ability to download routes from google or something else. I find navigating the MFT to set things up extremely cumbersome where google maps allows quick changes. With my TomTom unit I could do this, set up the route I wanted, use another website to convert th route to a TT file and I was good to go.
  7. I have somewhat of a similar problem. I have even seen that the nav picks different routes depending on direction of travel. But it does give you three options, I think one is fastest, the other is shortest and I think eco. So maybe one of those other choices is what you are looking for.
  8. Good glad you are getting it straightened out without too much hassle.
  9. Very strange...I don't even remember taking mine off. I am pretty sure I just used tin snips with it mounted. Not sure why they would have removed it to begin with.
  10. Sounds like someone screwed up at the factory and didn't install something right. Seems to me if this were a design issue it would happen much more frequently. Also, when things like this are designed poorly they tend to be even more of a problem if people take off and put the back on. Since several people here have wrapped theirs and haven't had any ill effects I really think your case is a one off. Either way I would contact the dealer and see what they say.
  11. Well I know our 2011 has two but we do have two mufflers. This variation in the muffler design is what can make hitch fit an issue. Maybe someone that has a single muffler can confirm.
  12. There are heat shields on both sides
  13. What ever one you get the install is easy. Really the only difficult part to getting the hitches installed is the size and weight. If you have someone work with you it is super easy, by yourself you need to be careful not to push the bolts back into the frame. I would recommend lifting one side up and loosely fixing nuts. Get them fully engaged so it won't land on your head but then lift the other side and connect those nuts. I just found it easier to only line up two holes than four separated by a few feet.
  14. Do you mean the strip along the hood? Well either way haven't heard of any parts flying off.
  15. I haven't heard of the Curt rattling...I actually got the Curt because I previously installed a Valley and it hit the exhaust cans since the design changed between 2010 and 2011. I went with the Curt because at the time it was the only one that specifically had pictures and video of it installed on an 11 with the same exhaust cans I have. So the Curt is rattle free but you do see a rather large cross bar under the bumper.
  16. I thought the courtesy wipe was the second delayed wipe after cleaning the windshield. Either way the settings are in the the cluster as mentioned. But if you are seeing the rear wiper go off when you're not in reverse something else is up.
  17. Damn with your screen name I was hoping I might see you on the road some time but doubt I'll be making it out to AZ. Looks really nice, like the wheels and all. Just wonder what it would look like if you blacked out some of that chrome in the headlight housings.
  18. I had done a search before posting and it seems the 2011 use a different model number. While I think the post diameter and spread are the same I believe the leather may be different. I am pretty sure prior to 2011 they didn't have the contrasting red stitching...also not sure if the black is the same black.
  19. Too bad it is for a 2009. Was thinking about getting something like this but the price was always too high especially if I compared it to an iPad for the little man, but this would be a little cheaper for someone just looking for DVD playback. GLWS.
  20. Have tried my sisters 4s witht he same results...definitely the mic.
  21. Has anyway taken the leap of faith on this? The wife just called me and I had to hang up because it was so annoying...not her...the back ground noise. Though if I stayed on longer maybe that would have been the case. Got to try to dig up that email I got from Erik and see if it is clear enough to give it a go.
  22. Haven't seen that but there is a setting to have it sweep if you put the car in reverse and the fronts are on.
  23. Sometimes the caps do wear out but see if a local auto parts place can test it for you. If it isn't the cap there is a pressure sensor in there that does go bad on occasion but not sure if this is really a DIY fix. Maybe one of the Ford techs can chime in with the difficulty of replacement if it comes to that.
  24. Before you do you may want to see if it needs to be programmed to teh vehicle with teh IDS first. More than likely you will have to go to them anyway.
  25. Sorry to hear that..hope things work out in the end but in the past I have found PP to be useless at dispute resolution. That is why even when I have to use PP I use a CC since I know they actually have my back.
