Have never turned on breadcrumbs but maybe this is what you have active?

Like I mentioned...previously no dealers wanted to schedule service for MFT issues unless I purchased the vehcile there. Even the dealer I purchased at has been reluctant to schedule sevice for MFT issues. Which is a big part of my frustration with Ford and this MFT system. They all know it is a problem and don't want to have to deal with it.

I can call around but previously when I called and said I had MFT issues no one was even willing to look at it. When it was in a few weeks ago the dealer claims to have checked out the system and said it was fine. Just not sure what they do for diagnostics. Maybe FordGuru can chime in on what if anything they can do as far as hardware checking goes. Not sure if they have tools to test memory, CPU etc or if they just play with it to see if it has any quirks. I have to bring it back to this dealer anyway since they forgot to reinstall my hood switch and now the remote start doesn't work...so I'll give them another shot. After that if I am still having issues I'll see if the regional rep can help influence another dealer to look at it.

I should never have opened my mouth. Just today the system started off with a black screen and radio on. Took about 5 minutes to start to show the "performing maintenance" screen then did another reboot then seemed ok. This really is so frustrating. I just wish I knew what set it off, if there is something in particular, so I could avoid it. Luckily we didn't need nav and the HVAC did seem to be working this time. Just such a dissapointment that everyone was told to wait for this rewrite and we still have these major issues. I will say this is still better than 2.11 for me but in two months we have probably averaged a lock-up/reboot every other week. Along with other bugs. Just so dissapointed because in so many other ways we love this car but if they don't fix this by winter I don't think we can take the chance of not having heat again.

Not for my case...I had it set to notify me and it was doing that the whole time. So this was definitely a routing quirk. When I explained it to SMR support they didn't seem to be too surprised and suggested updating to 2.11. We had so many problems with 2.11 I couldn't even tell you if this was better. Besides 99% of our nav use is for short trips, like 2 hours.

Thanks for tht ips but just figured it out. For some reason they took my hood switch out. Have no idea why they would have done this. I could see disconnecting it but this is flat out removed. I guess I'll be going back to the dealer this week, just hope it doesn't turn into a pissing match. Funny thing is this last service visit was starting to restore some faith in my dealer.

Had this installed a few months back and it has always worked great but it seems since our last service visit it no longer works. Since I never received any directions on how it is supposed to work or how to troubleshoot I am hoping someone has the manual. This is the bidirectional unit for the 2011. Before pressing the start button on the key fob twice would send the signal then a few seconds later the key fob would confirm the start with I think two beeps and occasional flash of green around the button. Now we get three beeps and a green flash. When I went out by the car I noticed the hazards flash and the horn honks but nothing happens. Any idea what is going on or what the dealer could have messed up? I did check the settings under remote start and even tried disabling then enabling the remote start but still does the same thing.

For me the update has been better but I do agree it has a long way to go to be considered acceptable. It is pretty sad that what is considered a budget manufacturer has a system that works so much better than Ford. But I guess the take away is we might not be screwed forever. I beleive the Kia system is based on Windows too, so if that one works they should be able to get this right too...unless of course there is a hardware issue.

Yeah considered that but don't want to for two reasons. First most of them are at least 10" long which means the carrier will sit so far back I am afraid of the carrier dragging going through transitions. Second I hate rattles and adding another loose connection will drive me crazy. I would rather find one that has a longer shank. I have seen a few on Ebay but question the build quality. Was hoping someone could recommend one.

For me we set it to take us from NJ to MB SC and did not edit route. It told us to get off I-95 onto either 795 or 40, can't remember which. Just remember ooking at the map thinking it was strange but since it was a highway I would give it a shot. Well not far in it turned to back roads. It did get us there but I would say we lost 45 minutes to an hour. But I think something was wrong from the beginning since there were no voice prompts, then after a fuel up they were back. On the way home it routed us how I would have expected from the start. But even this wasn't without issues. Several times along the way on I-95 it said we were off route and driving through a field. Then just as I got off the GSP the whole thing just locked up.

Last sumer I borrowed a argo carrier from a buddy and it worked out great. This year we are both going on vacation at the same time so it looks like I need to get my own. I was searching around and found a few that fold that looked nice but I am not sure if they clear the bumper on the Edge since the hitch receiver is recessed. I did contact Curt about one of theirs and found out it is no good....has anyone tried one of these?

I haven't really had the chance to do a long route but this does make me nervous about our summer vacation. But I will say I did have it act very strange last summer going to SC on 2.8. Somewhere way up in NC it said to get off the road and took us on a horrible route. On the way home it took us on what looked like a much more reasonable route. So maybe this has been there all along but doesn't always show up??? I guess I will be travelling with the TomTom again.

Good luck with that. When I told them I was still ahving issues I was told they were working on it. I insisted they check the hardware since I often get GPS dropouts, had the reverse camera freeze and actually became my background image for a while, a few lock ups, the system write protects my drives, voice recognition doesn't work well and mic background noise is back. They claim to have tested it and found no problems. But even with all of these issues it is still way better than 2.11 for me. I just hope they sort this other crap out on the next update or at least acknowledge/fix the hardware issue.

Sorry to hear about the scratch but yes pay back is a bitch.

I was told no. When we first upgraded our stability went to crap and they said they could do nothing. Not sure why if they can wipe it clean and do a fresh install, so long as they have the code they should be able to. So I think it is more of an issue that they don't want to support it.

But to my point this system does not have a constant stream of data as the author suggested. It is used only when the owner requests services or in the event of a crash. Again, we are a long way from being able to have a robust enough cell network to support all this bandwidth and most certainly it won't come for free.

Does sound like it could be a smart junction box issue as Akirby mentioned. This is why many recommend using a relay harness to take the load off the SJB. Also as Akirby stated getting it covered under warranty will be a long shot, especially if they see anything modified in the engine bay that could have been for aftermarket lighting. Good luck.

There was a thread recently where people posted pics and info on each one. I know I put up pics of a Valley and Curt.

We have the BAMR and it was terrible with 2.11, got better with initial install of update but seems to have gotten worse in the last few weeks. But I agree dynamite might be a bit extreme

Not yet since the details were pretty slim but I might just have to take the leap of faith one day. Seems like over the last couple of weeks our is returning to its old ways. Makes me think there is something in the software that is trying to do some noise cancellation and gets reset when you update the software.

I don't think any of the aftermarket hitches require cutting of the bumper but I believe teh factory one does. If you check out a site like etrailer they often have the installation instructions and sometimes videos of the installations so you can get a better idea of what is involved.

+1 not really necessary unless you always drive your car like you stole it.
