  1. Just noticed you're in Canada. I'm not sure how HIDs work with DRLs or if it's even possible. There are a bunch of HID threads in the Glass and Lighting section. I can tell you that the stock 9012 bulbs in your Edge are some of the brightest halogen bulbs on the market so there's not much, if any, room for improvement when it comes to bulb replacement. One night drive down a dark two lane road will probably get you looking for a brighter solution!!!!!
  2. I know you said you don't want to go down the HID road but I would think about it. After 3 years with a $40.00 DDM 35/5000 kit in my 2011 I can honestly say that it's the best upgrade I've made to my Edge. They really do work awesome in the Edge's halogen projectors and it's a super easy install if you go with a 35 watt kit.

    Engine Cover

My engine covers (back and front) and hood insulation were also destroyed by those little *****!!!! Pretty sure the covers are there for noise dampening purposes so I'll be ordering another one when I get a chance. I'm gonna see if my insurance will pick up the tab cuz I know they sometimes wave my deductible.
  4. Looking forward to results and pics. Someone else went with the LMZs on here but never posted pics. I'm a little skeptical how these will work in halogen projectors compared to how well HIDs work.
  5. I think it actually looks pretty good cuz it fits tight to the grill. Now lift that bad boy up, put 44" Gateway Monster Gumbo Mudders on it and lets do some 4 wheelin!!!!!!!!!! Does that Bull Bar have light tabs on it? If so, ya gonna add some?
  6. 2011 SEL 54,000 miles. My 11 sits outside in Michigan 24/7. I was just cleaning and rotating mine and noticed that the original Michelins are really starting to crack along the shoulder and rim. They were not cracking last year cuz I would have noticed it when applying 303. Still a decent amount of tread left but I'll be replacing them just before the snow flies with a set of Yoko YK580's that I have sitting in the basement.
  7. I'd go aftermarket. Nice double din head units with all the features you could want are really cheap these days and will sound much better then any factory stereo. Should be a really easy install.
  8. I have no problem running tires with plugs in them and have done so for many years. In your case, because the repair is so close to the shoulder, I would run that tire in the rear. Not sure if I'm correct but I would think a back tire blowing out is better then a front because of steering ability.
  9. I've been using plugs for 30+ years and never had one fail but that may be a little to close to the sidewall. Take it in and see if they think a plug and patch will be OK. They will know more when the tire is dismounted from the rim. Horrible aim, you really should have hit that nail an inch to the left!
  10. I just finished an application of Duragloss 111/601 on my 2011 after a thorough clay bar session. Applying this Duragloss product by hand is identical to applying Zaino Z-2. Same consistency and ease of application and it only took me about 1 tablespoon to do my entire Edge!!! I did try the Duragloss 105/601 combo last year but it was harder to apply and I did not get good durability through a tough Michigan winter. If the 111/601 combo comes even close to Zaino Z-2 in the durability department I'll be using it for a long time. Duragloss 111 plus the 601 bonding agent will set ya back around $20.00 which is about $10.00-$15.00 cheaper then the Z-1/ZFX Zaino combo. 111 has always been compared to Z-2 and I now understand why.
  11. The foam engine cover on my 2011 made a really nice mouse nest!!!! Now it dampens sound and allows air flow!! I think they are around $80.00 from the dealership.
  12. This issue has been ongoing for more then 10 years with Ford vehicles. My 2004 Taurus had both front door switches go bad and I went through a few cans of lube before I finally sold it. I would think most companies would address the problem rather then just ignore it all these years. Maybe they preordered 15 years worth of door latches they need to use up!!!!!
  13. Looks like some serious road rash on that rim! Proof that fast food is bad for your body and vehicle!!!
  14. H-9's in place of the H-11's make a huge difference in low beam brightness. Lots of info online about the slight mod you have to make to the H-9 for proper fitment. Just make sure to aim them properly after install.
  15. My 2011 (50,000 miles) has been that low for a long time. I just had them top it off a few weeks ago so I'll keep an eye on it. I have not seen or smelled any leaks which could be good or really really really bad. really really really bad = internal head gasket leak
  16. Sweet, maybe the brain is still working OK!!!!! http://pdfsr.com/pdf/13n02-brake-booster-warranty-extension-2010-thru-2013-edge-and-mkx
  17. Mac, I just had my 2011 in the shop and they told me how long the booster warranty was extended. My memory is starting to go at the ripe old age of 50 so I can't remember the exact mileage but I think it was 10 years/150,000 miles.
  18. I never get those silly certificates but I can see how they could come in handy if you destroyed a really expensive tire. I think ya get lifetime balance, rotation and flat repair with any purchase from Discount Tire.
  19. If they are 35 watt, I would try them without the harness. If they are 55 watt, ya might want to look into a better harness with thicker gauge wiring. I had the same problem with a cheap ebay harness and rebuilding it to the proper length with 14 gauge wire completely solved the problem. Also keep in mind that some of these kits don't fire consistently when using the auto-on headlight feature.
  20. Very informative. I've been doing my own break jobs for 30+ years and have always had good luck (except that one time when I put some Taurus pads on backwards in the dark!!!). I always thought it was heat that caused rotors to warp but improperly installed rotors makes a lot more sense to me on street driven vehicles. I'm getting ready to do the brakes on my 2011.
  21. Go to Crutchfield.com and enter your vehicle. That site will show you everything you need for the job.
  22. Should be really easy and well worth the effort. Just make sure you get the adapter harness so ya don't have to cut any factory wires and you could probably find a kit to retain your steering wheel controls if you like to use them. There should be lots of info online about switching these Ford Head units out.
  23. Really enjoy your vids Mac and I'm sure they have proven very helpful to many do-it-yourselfers on here. I figured the back shocks were pretty easy and will probably be trying to soften my 2011's ride up with some Sensatracs soon. Have you noticed how much stiffer the ride is in your 2011 compared to the 08? Also, have you replaced the front struts and springs yet?
  24. I ordered one of these a few months ago and just ordered 2 more. They actually work really well and hold phones rock steady in any position. The thin piece of metal can either go between the battery and back cover or between phone and a case. The mount itself is rubberized and fits really well in my 2011. These things are super cheap and very cool!!! These come on the slow boat so count on at least 3 weeks. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Car-Magne...566e71dd35
  25. I had a 2013 Lincoln MKX split a belt around 15,000 miles because of a metal bur on one of the pulleys. Never actually saw it but that's what the dealership told me.
