  1. Congrats! Looks like my birthday present is you getting your Edge! When did you place your order? Where about in the country are you located? I'm going on four weeks and haven't heard from the dealer yet. Haven't followed up either though.
  2. To be honest these things haven't changed much since the 2011 MY mid cycle enhancement. Most issues that apply to the 13s also apply to the 11s and 12s so I'm not sure what the point of a 2013 Owners Lounge would be.
  3. Thank you for the post, 1217. When I first test drove the Edge back in the summer of '11 all they had were equipped with the 18"s so I have never driven one with the 20s (neither Edge nor MKX) but to me, the ride is key. I still feel that my Edge rides a little rougher than I'd like, and the MKX seemed similar during the test drive. It's really going to be annoying if they add the adaptive Lincoln Drive Control to the 2014 model year MKXs. I cross shopped the MKX with the RX350 and GLK350 but in the end I couldn't bring myself to buy an import. Plus this will be my fourth Ontario built vehicle in a row, so that makes me feel good. Gotta support our economies, am I right? With respect to the interior colour, I wanted something other than black and I couldn't warm up enough to the canyon colour - reminded my too much of my 1984 Jeep Wagoneer with a similar interior. Burnt pumpkin my sister used to call it. That left me with the light stone. I don't wear jeans so hopefully I will be ok. We shall see...
  4. Wow it's that bad is it? I presume you're finding it overly sensitive in city traffic?
  5. Two weeks is crazy though. I've never heard of one coming that quickly. Are you sure you didn't mean ordered February 5? Well I told them I don't really want to take delivery until mid-May after they quoted 10 to 12. I was thinking within 8 would be realistic. I live in a new subdivision and the contractors turn our streets into muddy trails so I would prefer to let things dry up a bit. Last time I ordered from the factory (Ingersoll that time) they told me no longer than 6 weeks and it turned out to be 12. Oh well, I will take it whenever it comes in. Did they follow up with you throu the process? I.e. let you know when it was accepted for production, projected week of assembly, etc? I know GM can track that way.
  6. Wow that was a quick build! Wonder why they are telling me 10 to 12 weeks for my MKX. I'm only a couple of hours from the plant myself.
  7. I decided on sticking with the 18s. Looking at both wheel options side by side it didn't seem as pronounced. Of the two 20" options I preferred the polished as opposed to the chrome clad but didn't want to shell out the $1,300. Kind of came down to choosing between the adaptive cruise ($1,500) and the polished 20s so I chose the cruise. I'm still over the $55K budget I set for myself as it is! To be honest, I didn't find the MKX to ride any better than my Limited, and if it was quieter it was barely so. I really like the added feature content and the interior. It's going to be a long 8 weeks!
  8. ^ I don't believe I have ever been in an Expedition, but I owned an 05 F150 extended cab. I would hardly call it cramped, but as you say it's all about your frame of reference. I was being the smart a$$ but meant no harm by it.
  9. Today I placed my order for a 2013 MKX. Ingot silver with the Canadian 101a, light stone interior and olive wood. Options are wood package, 101A and adaptive cruise. All of our X's have premium interior and 18" polished aluminum wheels as well as AWD. good thing as I travelled up in a snowstorm and test drove in some pretty bad weather. I should take possession by the end of May which is fine by me. Gives some time for the rains to clean up the roads. Hopefully I am able to keep the light stone clean, as the demo I drove wasn't as clean as I'd expect. To others with the light stone, how is it holding up? Do you have any issues with clothing dye transfer?
  10. Wow. What's your daily driver? A Kenneworth?
  11. Thanks, Haz. I have read the brochure a number of times, but the product portfolio document was interesting. What colour is your interior? Did you go with the wood?
  12. Thanks for the info, guys... especially the pictures, Haz! And Haz, I wasn't aware of the painted wheels. In Canada, they are not an option. The polished are standard with the two 20s and the 22s as optional. In fact there are a lot of differences I see. AWD is standard here as is the perforated seating. There is only the Sight and Sound Package (blis, pano roof, THX and nav), wood pkg, trailer tow pkg and the Limited Edition pkg. Adaptive cruise, wheels, block heater, some paints, floor mats, etc being options. I imagine in the larger centres the dealers have many MKXs in stock. Most within a few hours drive from me have less than half a dozen so if you want a specific colour or option you have to order. Luckily the factory is only a few hours away so shipping shouldn't be a problem.
  13. Looking for photos of Ingot Silver and Tuxedo Black MKXs with the standard 18" polished aluminum wheels. I can't seem to find much online. People seem to prefer the chrome clad 20s.
  14. Roxy, the Sierra is NOT FWD, nor has it ever been. Aside from the Honda Ridgeline (and maybe it's more of a front wheel drive-based 4WD), no pickups are front wheel drive. Well that and maybe some weird Volkswagen things and the Dodge Rampage from the 80s.
  15. Thanks for the info, Joe. I meant to ask about the difference in ride quality if there is one. I'm on the cusp of ordering an MKX and am having a hard time choosing which wheels. I like the design of the 18s and that they are polished not CC but they seem to look so small compared with the 20s. I intend to drive both when I visit the dealer next week. I've worked this deal backwards as we worked numbers before I've even taken it for a test drive! The nearest dealer is over an hour away from me. Sorry to hijack your thread, Manish!
  16. Did you test out the Edge? If so, how did it compare to your MKX? What size wheels on your Lincoln?
  17. I think the Limited 'mactack' is relatively understated. Some of those wood kits are quite overt... The Sport's silver trim would likely be a good replacement IMHO
  18. What point are you trying to make? The Edge is a crossover.... always has been.
  19. How long does it take to swap over the wheels? Or do you go up enough to leave them on all the time? I wish I had to put miles on to see the snow.... Here the snow comes to me!
  20. I believe they introduced the 10 way power passenger seat for '12 except for the Sport (possible SE too?) which caused them to do away with the the fold flat feature. I think the two extra "ways" were setback recline up and down, relative to the older 8 way fold flat design with manual recline.
  21. It's great that you took the time to write this up. Hopefully it will be beneficial to those considering the Edge as their next vehicle. I would comment that ride quality is quite a subjective thing. I personally find my Edge to ride pretty rough and jarring on bad roads, even with the 18" rims at 35 psi. Better than my previous vehicle, a 2010 GMC Terrain, but still not as comfortable as I'd like it. I would recommend that anyone looking at the Edge take a test drive on the worst stretch of road in their commute, if possible. I also don't know why they don't offer HID headlamps on the Sport as it seems to be positioned above the Limited in the lineup. Once you go HID it's hard to do without. And unless they made a mid-cycle change, the seats only have two settings. I wish there was a medium setting as I find hi way too hot and low, well...
  22. Good to know. I'm getting tired of black interiors. In fact when I was furnishing my new house last summer I chose chocolate brown and cream leather furniture. No black allowed!
  23. I really like the light interior. Wonder how difficult it is to keep it looking new.
  24. I didn't say anything about leasing - I own mine. In fact, here in Canada leasing is only now making a comeback. And the rates are nowhere near where they were back in '07 when I last leased. My vehicles hold their value as best they can by remaining in showroom condition... low miles (7,700 after almost two years) and maintaining a relationship with the dealer. I have been soaked before... when I traded my '10 GMC in at the Ford dealership in '11. I have come out OK when I've traded the same make.
