  1. As municipal engineer specializing in drainage and stormwater management, I have the pleasure of knowing exactly what urban stormwater/snow contains - and it isn't pretty. I consider the water in my car wash buckets to be toxic and suggest everyone else does the same!
  2. I'd never heard of a product made specifically for getting these spots off until now. I will be ordering this product from my favourite detailing product shop! Kudos to you WWW!
  3. I had a ton of these crop up on my Ingot Silver paint over the winter. They were not there last fall as I was very good about keeping it clean. I attribute them to general road junk being picked up and kicked up with the snow. I was going to pick up a bottle of bug and tar remover and let it soak on the panels, before the first hand wash. Even with a pressure washer with foam gun attachment, I'm worried about scratching the paint as the rust is indicative of small iron/metal particles. Can't be rail dust in my case as I live close enough to Oakville for mine to have arrived by truck.
  4. 2.0V6Ecoboost? The 2.0 is NOT a V6 lol
  5. I will begin to suspect impending part failure when the pedal is hard at every startup (after it's been sitting for days).
  6. Thanks for the feedback, all. I thought I'd ask because I don't believe I ever experienced this with my Edge in the time I owned it.
  7. Have been experiencing a hard/firm brake pedal on startup (push button start) about once every three cold startups. I haven't noticed any issue with actual braking and the issue doesn't arise if started warm. No brake warning lights or anything. Once started all is well. Keeping in mind I'm usually about a week between startups. Has anyone else experienced this at all? There are no apparent external leaks and the reservoir is at normal level. I don't know enough about the modern braking system to know if there could be a problem. As my closest dealer is two hours away and is not open on weekends, I will probably just keep driving it until a light comes on unless someone knows why I might be having this 'issue'.
  8. Design choices, yes, but it think Black Label is more about personalization of textures, materials and colours than gadgets and tech.
  9. I recently opened my roof for the first time and boy, did the motor seem to labour. A few days later I opened it again, thinking if I used it more it would loosen up, but then it wouldn't close all the way. It would stop just short of the front seal. I had read about the initializing procedure in the past so I knew what to do, and it seems to have worked. Time will tell if it stays properly calibrated.
  10. ^ I agree as well but with run of the mill Hyundai SUVs offering cooled seats, heated rear seats and heated steering wheels, Ford will have no choice but to add these features going forward to their lower level offerings. That leaves us Lincoln owners with much less exclusivity when it comes to features on the next gen vehicles I think. But hey, we still have the lighted sunroof switches and fabric a-pillars to keep us happy!
  11. Lifetime average 11.1. Last summer i was getting as good as 10.8 average over a long period of time. Never got better than 11.0 on my Edge at 13,000 km. Only have 4,600 km on my MKX though so it's bound to improve over time. I'm in east-central Ontario though (near Kingston) so driving conditions are probably totally different than what you would experience in Vaughan. I definitely drive in a fuel efficient manner... anticipating what's going on far ahead and adjusting accordingly. Easy on the gas, easy on the brakes. Never had my foot to the floor, but I do enjoy the power. It's so smooth, quiet and powerful I find myself at 130 just merging onto the highway. Edit... Oh, and FWIW I decided to order mine with the 18" polished wheels. Same size as my Edge. I prefer the look of the 20s, but I learned in the past to choose function over form. Ride quality is of paramount importance to me. Not sure how wheel size relates to fuel economy though.
  12. My MKX does. I drive so infrequently that I will leave it running if I have to pop into a store for a few minutes. LCBO for example. I get out and press the two right buttons on the outside keypad. Only need to do it in the colder months. If I don't, I run the risk of getting the message on the screen - something about battery saver being active.
  13. Mine honks twice. Very annoying but I haven't seen a setting to make it stop. My Edge did not honk.
  14. Cool. Did they elaborate on the TSB actions for the door switch? Wonder if there is some sort of 'easy', non-invasive fix. Seems to be an exceedingly common issue with the newer models. Can't comment on dealership experiences myself. I'm 11 months in but only have about 2,800 miles on it. Haven't even had the oil changed yet. My closest Lincoln dealer is 2 hours away but they told me they will come to my house/office, get the car and leave a loaner, should I choose.
  15. Congrats! Welcome to the club. What is your 'beef' with the driver's seat?
  16. Hello, fellow Ontarian. Welcome to the forum!
  17. Good find on the pics. My MKX definitely has the 'newer style'. I'm intrigued... I will see if I still have a photo of my Edge to see if it had the other ones.
  18. Hmmm call me crazy but I didn't notice the mirrors to be any different in size from my Edge to my MKX. I'm sure I would have noticed! I too wish they found a way to include the spotter mirrors and the BLIS. I like the BLIS but the little mirrors worked very good too. I do like that the MKX driver's side mirror is electrochromatic.
  19. I just saw the Edge concept earlier today at the Toronto Auto Show. It's a nice evolution of the existing model. Didn't blow me away. I was, however, very impressed with the new Porsche Macan SUV. It's not as small as I thought it would be.
  20. I believe both of mine have had some movement of the HID beam on very bumpy roads or over sharp bumps. I always attributed it to the sharpness of these types of lights making the movement more visible.
  21. No trailer hitch here, but I agree in the first part. 280 lb.ft. Is quite a bit of torque. A big V6 is soon to go the way of the dodo as the engines get smaller and are turbocharged.
  22. Having owned both I can say there is a marked difference between the Edge and MKX in terms of quietness. There must be additional sound deadening in the Lincoln.
  23. I have found this with my MKX. The only disappointment for me, relative to my old Edge, is that the heated seats in the MKX don't reach the same temps. At least on mine, even the hottest of three settings isn't even half as intense as the Edge was. Cooling function works great. Over both seat functions, the heated steering wheel is the best cold weather feature IMHO. Truly a treat.
  24. My 11 Edge had the manual mode with the rocker switch. No sport mode... You had to use the rocker in M. In my 13 MKX there is an S gate where the M was on the Edge. Sport mode makes the shifts crisper and I believe changes their timing for more aggressive driving. It will still shift for itself unless you start using the paddles. Then it stays in a manual mode and only responds to the paddles. While in regular D you can use the paddles to summon up a downshift or if you want to up shift. It only stays in a manual mode for a handful of seconds before reverting back for full auto.
