  1. Design flaw? Come on.... there are how many hundred thousand of these vehicles on the road. If it were a design flaw the 'rusty door seam' thread would probably have more hits than 'report your MFT gripes'.
  2. Auto function is useless? I couldn't disagree more.... I have never had mine off auto - ever. None of the behaviours you are describing. Maybe some sort of sensor or computer issue?
  3. Near the 'end' of my time with the Edge I noticed that when I climbed up into the drivers seat I would hear a clunk sound too - from the rear of the vehicle. Not too loud but enough to hear it distinctly. I also had a low speed clunk from the back end for most of my time with the vehicle. Always repeatable if you hit the brakes while moving slowly. I.e. while creeping. Never had it looked at though.
  4. Don't lose faith... This is just a bump in the road. If you made it through owning Ford products in the mid-two-thousands, you'll make it through anything!
  5. I am certain that we will see at least a concept and hopefully a production version during the next autoshow 'season'. Don't be thinking Ford will just spring the next gen Edge and MKX on us all of a sudden. That's not the way it works!
  6. I don't really disagree with you but the platform is quite 'old' at this point, relatively speaking. I think these vehicles could benefit from a newer, stiffer chassis with some weight savings engineered in. What I don't want is a downsized vehicle with a piddly little one-point-something four banger! The benefit to having an 'older' vehicle is they have the wrinkles ironed out. We were luckily left out of the gas tank recall announced today. So far at least!
  7. The MKX has it. It's a $1,500 option up here and I made myself choose between it and the 20" polished wheels. I'm glad I made the choice I did. The collision warning part of the system seems a bit random though. I have been trying to fool it but it seems to call my bluff more often than not. But I haven't had much time to play with it as yet. I've only driven it a few times since I got it a month ago.
  8. It's actually quite a useful feature. I didn't have it on my Edge, but have it now. Personally I think it's more useful than the blind spot info system. The little spotter mirrors worked just as well for me. It does take some time to get used to though, especially on intermediate-speed roads. It's quite strange for the vehicle to brake on its own if, for example, the car ahead slows down to make a right turn.
  9. Wow talk about low ball. I got almost 30 large for my 2011 with 8,000 miles. Also super clean. It sold on their used car lot within a day or so. And they probably made a fee grand in the process. These are CAD, mind you. Is supply of these vehicles high there?
  10. I ordered mine on March 15 and it came in on May 1st. I got mine in Kingston so I imagine you can expect a similar timeline. With respect to the dealer insignia, just follow up with your salesperson on that after five weeks or so. I've not had a problem with having them leave off the badge or license plate surround in the past.
  11. Congrats! It doesn't seem to have taken your driver's seat long to start developing wrinkles. So far so good on my MKX but I've only driven it twice since I picked it up.
  12. ^ I will have to check what version my MKX is running. One thing is for sure, though, and that is the MKX is markedly faster than my Edge. Much more responsive on the centre touch screen as well as the left and right DICs. I had 3.5 on my Edge.
  13. Congrats! What was the build date? Mine was built on the 23rd of April and arrived at the dealership on May 1. Ours were probably assembly line mates!
  14. Picked up my MKX this afternoon. So far so good. It seems quieter and a bit more comfortable than the Edge. Love the adaptive cruise and blind spot monitoring. Also the 3.7 is markedly more powerful than the 3.5 - or maybe it's the transmission. When I got home I noticed there's already a scratch in the drivers door about one centimetre long. Not too deep but slightly disappointing nonetheless. You could say it came pre-scratched. I didn't have the newest MFT in my Edge but didn't have any issues. I have to say that the MKX with the newest version is much more responsive than my Edge. Its amazing what a little speed increase can do for the overall user experience!
  15. I'm at the 6 week point myself. About 300 km from the factory. If I don't see it this week it'll be the middle of May. Hate it when a week in Myrtle Beach gets in the way of a new car!
  16. I doubt it. We would have seen more concepts and mules by now if it was.
  17. Whoa whoa don't be getting all crazy on us! J/k and if I recall there is only one motor for the roof, and one for the shades. That YouTube video is quite informative. He walks you through cleaning out the old lube as well.
  18. Don't expect the '14s to be much different than the '13s. Also FWIW the Ecoboost owners I know have expressed disappointment with the observed fuel mileage.
  19. Exactly. I probably shouldn't be so harsh on others. To each their own, as they say.
  20. Congratulations! I spend a lot of time in NW Iowa. Got my first speeding ticket on I80 outside of Iowa City back in 2008 after about 15 years of driving. 80 in a 65. Good times!
  21. Hilarious. One take-away is that by revving and 'posturing' at least he thought you might be a worthy adversary. Or maybe he was just toying with you! Those things are seriously fast. The 2014 SRT is simply amazing. I doubt if I owned one that I would be keeping my license for long!
  22. What's your point? You should be held to a higher standard because you are a moderator. A certain decorum should be observed. Personally, I think this is one of the best auto forums I have ever been a member of. Tons of comraderie and a pretty decent membership. Sure there are some differing opinions but for the best part it's pretty good. Kingmike, I probably prejudged you for the simple matter that you admitted publicly that you claimed a hit and run to your insurance when in reality it was your carelessness. Hopefully your insurance company didn't require a police report and hopefully you didn't file a fraudulent one. That kind of behaviour to me shows a serious character flaw and for that I just don't like you.
  23. I agree with you Joe. KingMike appears to be a bit immature (language, spelling, slang) IMHO but seeing as he's been appointed a moderator we'd better get used to it.
  24. You guys make me feel like I am neglecting my Edge! I'm still struggling to breach the 8,000 mile mark on mine after nearly two years of ownership. Someone could probably steal the thing out of our garage and it could take me a week or more to realize it!
