  1. Here's a link you can use to compare various tire/wheels sizes: http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp But yea, I'd just stick with the stock size.
  2. I have 17" steelies with 235/65-17 snow tires for winter use, works fine.
  3. One instance where the ambers are used as DRL's, is with factory HID's. Stock Ford HID's don't take kindly to being run at a low DRL mandated voltage, so on Edge's so equipped, the front amber lights see DRL duty instead.
  4. Good stuff, glad to hear your first impressions are holding. And to add to the warm and fuzzies LOL, my very similarly optioned '12 is now approaching a year old with nary an issue. Couple things I would like to have seen setup differently on the car, that sunroof control system you mentioned being one, along with a true dead pedal for the driver, and a heated steering wheel (that's available on the MKX and Canadian winters are cold LOL). But again overall, it's been a very very pleasant driving experience including getting me through some nasty winter weather - a great year round, all round car I agree.
  5. I'm surprised Ford didn't include a "dead pedal" in that area, would make for better comfort on longer drives as well as helping keep it clean.
  6. In Canada where DRL's are mandatory, it's as Haz explained, the amber turn signals are illuminated (they also still function as turn signals of course), not a low voltage through the HID's - so it's also the way mine (with stock HID's) is set up from the factory.
  7. Congrats on the new ride, sounds VERY familiar LOL
  8. Basically as you said - it's a pictorial representation of torque delivered to a particular drive wheel. In normal driving on dry roads the system is biased to the front wheels. When accelerating, or on slippery surfaces, more torque is sent to the rear wheels, or to wheels with the most traction. Link below is a couple years old, but still applicable I'm sure: http://media.ford.co...3&make_id=trust
  9. May be as simple as bum keyfob battery or loose connection in there somewhere, but yea the emergency slot should keep you from being stranded. Have the dealer check it out, that's what warranties are for, good luck. P.S. on a related note, this whole IA thing has ruined me - I don't think I'll ever be able to buy another car now without something similar....First world problems LOL
  10. Not that far away from 1st anniversary of owning mine, with absolutely ZERO issues whatsoever - not even from MFT, and yes I use voice commands almost exclusively. As for other aspects of the vehicle, it's roomy, quiet, and with the awd is great for year round use in my neck of the woods what with our severe winters. One more note on the "quiet" thing, since CR mentioned it, and I"m not sure what differences there may be between models, but my Limited version is very very quiet whether around town, or on the highway. It was one of the reason actually after a test drive when both my wife and I remarked on it, that sold us on this one in particular. My wife's Acura RDX is noticeably louder on the highway especially, and it's not even really all that "bad" as far as that aspect goes either.
  11. I went with a separate set of 17" wheels + dedicated snow tires for our brutal Canadian winters and got through some heavy blizzards without much trouble. For occasional light snow duty though the stock all seasons+awd should be fine.
  12. Welcome Tim from Austin, enjoy the new ride!
  13. I agree, just the back up lights from the vehicle alone allows for a very bright image on the darkest night - but yea grainy....nature of the beast.
  14. You're stuck with the white circle, but you can turn various map features on/off via nav settings - I have mine set to just about everything turned off LOL, cleans up the screen nicely.
  15. Congrats and welcome...great colour BTW LOL!
  16. Honestly the Edge is not, nor meant to be, a performance vehicle - that's why you see so little aftermarket support. It's a relatively heavy, tall, softly sprung CUV that's intended to carry it's passengers and a pretty good load of cargo, in comfortable, quiet fashion. With a splash of style and techno wizardry . Now if Ford decides to make a true "sport" model at some point with the 3.5 Ecoboost, ala the new 2013 Explorer and Flex even, then you'll see a change in focus from some of the parts vendors out there. Until then, enjoy it for what it is. Just my opinion, and we all have one of those though LOL!
  17. Welcome and enjoy the new ride!
  18. I like "stuff", so I got the Limited not only for the stuff it has, but for the extra stuff I could only add to the Limited over the SEL (did not want the "Sport), such as factory HID's, BLIS, IA package, and adaptive cruise control. Or that's the way Canadian packages were for 2012 anyway .
  19. Big improvement, looks great - have always been partial to clean, 5 spoke designs myself.
  20. I have the Nushield version, perfect fit and works great to both protect the screen and improve visibility/contrast on bright days; no degradation of touch screen sensitivity either.
  21. Just brain-farting here, but as the remote start is tied in with the alarm system (and won't work if it has been triggered somehow) you may want to check the hood/tailgate closure to ensure it's not sending a fault to the alarm system. Also, any more that two remote starts attempted within a one hour period will also disable the system until a further one hour period from the last attempt has passed (according to the manual).
