I wouldn't think so as there should be enough load on that wiring to support the LED without them. I replaced my rears without them (but did need them up front). Having said that, im skeptical about changing amber leds to red. It may confuse drivers behind you and be a cause of concern. Im sure they'll get the point as it'll be blinking, but I've spent my entire 25+ years behind the wheel looking at amber turn signals.

Wiper(s) question
candurin replied to Chipster's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
My 2012 does the same thing (I think)... can't recall off the top of my head. -
Is it a TK75 by any chance? I keep one in my car (I'm on our local search and recovery team). It's the brightest "spotlight" I could find! I'd hate to be on the receiving end of the light.

2013 SEL Smartphone Remote
candurin replied to Dave33's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
So, yup. You received the older style RMST module with the OBD harness. That is why it didn't work. You needed the TPMS harness with revision of the module. Not sure what your recourse is, but perhaps you can call the dealer where you purchased it or work something out with the dealer that installed it, now having a root cause. -
2013 SEL Smartphone Remote
candurin replied to Dave33's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Dave, I hear what you are saying, but, can you confirm the part number on the actual module? It should be either DL3J-19G367-AA or -AB? And did you connect it at the back of the car or the front? Again, the -aa and -ab module are indistinguishable and can physically be connected in either location. The only difference is the t-cable that is included in the kit (-aa should include the tpms t-harness and -ab should include the OBD t-harness). If that wasn't the case it is a "ford" issue. The dealer doesn't package and seal the boxes, ford does. If you connected the -AA version in the front, it would not work. Nor would -AB work if you connected it in the rear. I'm asking because the dealer you used should be aware of this... I get what others are saying, but, Dave's module should have worked, as long as it was connected to the correct spot. -

The part number, DL3J-19G367-AA is the version that connects in the rear quarter panel to the TPMS. DL3J-19G367-AB is the VSS version that gets connected at the OBD port. Where did you connect yours? What kit/part number did they sell you? Truly sorry to hear you had such problems... -
2015 Edge fob self actvates in pocket
candurin replied to rurick's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Either you are blessed, wear really tight cargo pants or have extremely sensitive raised buttons on the fob (sorry;l, amusing myself this morning). I always thought that as long as you stay in the same frequency/series of keyfob you can program that remote to your car. You can always try and grab one off eBay and give it a try. If not, what about a more rigid plastic protector or a silicon based one (again, eBay or amazon has plenty of options) that would allow the case to be more flush with the buttons)? -
David, It looks like Rusty has you all set with the hood pin. If you purchased a 100 series kit, kit is basically the aerial antenna (long rectangular bar) that plugs into your TPMS module in the rear of the car and IKT (key with remote start button). After you have everything installed your dealer will use the ford software (IDS) to activate the feature in your car. Then you will see remote start under "vehicle settings" in the cluster to the left of your steering wheel.

Didn't Prinzll have this set up awhile back? If memory serves me correctly he was using them in backwoods (sorry, deserts) of AZ for night driving... I'll try and find his write up. I have no issues with with using these for the appropriate purpose. Please don't ever use these on public roads. Edit: I lied, he didn't install them, but was interested. There was a member, Vital_Dan who installed one: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/12151-led-light-bar-install/page-2

They can probably do it over the phone for you. Once the remote start is active on your cluster (left of the steering wheel), the remote cellular access does not need to be done in person. -
And here i was thinking your passenger ate deviled eggs... I had the same issue. Mine was repaired almost a year ago.

Add remote start 2015 Edge
candurin replied to ljdean200's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Looks like I may stand corrected. I should have looked at the eBay link more closely. It seems as though the aftermarket VSS also has the code built into it that activates the remote start in the IPC. It also allows you to use your pre-existing keyfob. Although you can use forscan and an OBD Bluetooth kit to activate a ford OEM VSS as well. Seems as though that eBay device is pretty neat. -

candurin replied to ljdean200's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Didn't know there was aftermarket "factory" VSS modules. You'll still need to buy RFR antenna, aerial, fobs etc to create a kit. The only thing contained in your link is the VSS module and OBD t-harness. My guess is that the reason people are not getting the one you linked, is because you can find the OEM ford version for less (DT4Z-19A361-A). -

Dave - not sure why I didn't think of this thread: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/8434-2011-ford-edge-200-series-remote-start-diy-bb5z-19g364-c/ In one of the latter posts on the first page you'll see a bunch of pictures showing you exactly what you need to do to connect the hood switch. -

You can see it in the image here: http://images.thetruthaboutcars.com/2012/06/2012-Ford-Edge-Limited-Ecoboost-029-550x353.jpg If you look underneath where the hood Switch goes you'll see the wire harness clipped to a plastic dummy connector. You simply pull it off the plastic connection point and plug it into the hood switch once you mount it. -
Have a look here: http://www.fordservicecontent.com/ford_content/catalog/accessory_files/2011-2013%20Remote%20Access_Truck3-15-2013.pdf Should be identical for 2014.

2013 SEL Smartphone Remote
candurin replied to Dave33's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Should be plenty of info for your car. I performed the install on my 2012 SEL, which is identical to your 2013. I even explained the difference between the tpms and OBD installs. You can either utilize the full kit that I mentioned or you can piecemeal a OBD based kit for your model year. Both work and perform identically. Have another look at the OP in that thread and let me know if you have more questions. -
2013 SEL Smartphone Remote
candurin replied to Dave33's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
It includes the remote start module, which gets t-harnessed into the tpms in the driver side rear quarter panel as well as the SIM card module. It also includes the harness. That is the exact kit I purchased. The hood switch is just the switch that gets plugged into the wiring harness. Do you not have the wire harness in your car? I figured the SEL trim level would have it (my 2012 SEL did). Did you look at my initial post in this thread?: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/17035-adding-oem-remote-start-kits-parts-explained-detailed-2011/page-1 -

candurin replied to Dave33's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
If you can still find it, DL3Z-19G364-A is an all in one remote start kit win remote access (cell phone) start capability. It includes everything you need, even if you had no OEM remote start. You need a hood switch and to pay the $50 annual fee. -
I put a 3rd row in our edge. My kids love it. But, apparently it is way to cold for them in the trailer, so we let them back into the car in the second row (call us sensitive)...

Many of us have installed dan's drls. Best bang for your buck, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the drivebrites. -
Correct. Perimeter alarm is what sounds if someone opens a door or trunk while your vehicle is locked. Shock sensor is included with either the VSS or RMST modules and has an adjustable sensitivity. It will beep once (a warning) if it detects a slight shock. It will activate the horn and lights if it detects an actual shock (mine is right on the cusp of being too sensitive as it will go off if a large truck drives past my edge). Sorry to hear about your troubles!
