  1. @Xtra i stopped detailing my vehicles after this became an all too common occurence in my area lol. hopefully the damage is minor. with awd, it's always in doubt if repairs will completely make the car whole again. hope you still have warranty!

  3. i believe it is possible but will be tough to get in and out, snuck under the cowling as far as it is. h7 would be a more apt comparison. pretty sure you would want to remove the cowling and the airbox for this one to bolt it into place.
  4. and THAT is the American way lol. If you make a blunder as big as this one, they SHOULD cover it. bad bearing, or grinding RDU, ok i will agree it's totally up to them. but engine failure? no way it should be an option. the manufacturer is just playing the waiting game, knowing most of the owners are too timid to pipe up and ask for a square deal.
  5. yes, people have received such assistance from Ford. most have been lucky to have purchased an extended warranty, but polite & persistent negotiation on a vehicle with reasonable mileage (12-15K / yr or under 100K i would say) HAS yielded results.
  6. well then, it's a wait and see situation, hopefully if it happens again, it won't be at a bad time ... a generic ELM327 may or may not read ABS codes. i have seen many listed that exclude ABS codes.
  7. @Larry Fisher here are a few videos that can help you replace the alternator https://www.youtube.com/c/MACTFordEdge/search?query=alternator diagnostic for the DTC attached 2007-2010 Ford Edge Lincoln MKX P1633 Troubleshooting.pdf
  8. bump. i do not know specifically, but most modern good or better quality LEDs are already CANbus compliant, at least for headlights. Switchbacks can be tricky tho, so be sure the seller has a good return/refund policy if they do not work on your Edge.
  9. have you or your dealer contacted Ford Corporate? if the mileage on your vehicle is reasonable, they should provide assistance. sometimes doing to mediation with the assistance of an attorney can get better results than a lawsuit if you are unable to get assistance directly. As always, i highly recommend people buying used vehicles with the 2015-2018 MY 420 cleveland stickered engines tread lightly. Buy Ford ESP and factor that into the price you pay for the vehicle. Or avoid entirely. This is a huge black eye for Ford, and you should not be taking it on the chin for them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kgo-h_LhjeE
  10. should be posting in the Gen 2 section ... https://www.fordedgeforum.com/forum/81-2015-edge-mkx-generation-ii/ or https://www.fordedgeforum.com/forum/73-27l-ecoboost/ well, traction/torque management can do all kinds of odd things. you can get the light if you are turning and accelerate hard, for instance. so not necessarily anything out of the ordinary. worn tires or tires that are TOO sticky can also cause weird phenomena. what obd scanner are you using? you should get something like an OBDLink+ or BlueDriver to monitor your vehicle on a regular basis. do you experience any bumps, or vibration in the cabin, or hear whining/grinding sounds? i would try first resetting the KAM / PCM by pulling the neg batt cable for 40+ minutes - a "hard" reset just like on computers and smart devices. I don't really trust the software based KAM resets as they are in some form or manner incomplete. After you do the reset, it will take some time for the PCM to learn your driving style, and usually will be hard shifting during this period. I would also look into changing ALL fluids in your vehicle, a recommended procedure whenever you buy used, to set a baseline. Ford vehicles LOVE fresh fluids check the color and condition of the transmission fluid in particular. check AWD fluids - PTU/RDU. PTUs do still fail, despite cooling and increased fluid capacity. this platform is supposed to stay in FWD most of the time, but under hard acceleration, would engage the AWD system, and generally, not for long, unless traction is continuously a problem. you may also want to inspect the tone rings on the axles for cracks. have not seen any cases really of failure on this part on 2015+ MYs, but you never know. no issues with the throttle body either. may be battery issues, but i don't see that with your Sport's symptoms ... yet. resources for your Sport, including TSBs, recalls, etc https://drive.google.com/drive/u/2/folders/1Kv_Hsy6bOToW-NiO3ME9mY5TRvoHYKlS
  11. although this should not happen even after running out of gas, check the fuel pump for proper operation. age may have killed it. on an 07, you have a schrader valve at the fuel rail, so checking pressure is easy.
  12. most all ford engines run fine on 87 (regular) fuel. there may be a few premium options like the Ford GT, or Shelby Cobras that require 93, but not on mass production vehicles. it is recommended that ecoboost engines run on premium, for better power/knock resistance since the engines are high compression, but really only needed if you get into it often or tow regularly, live in hilly areas, etc. the engines being referred to are likely 2015-2018 MY 2.0, and type of gas is irrelevant to the subject of the lawsuit.
  13. possibly the wastegate solenoid, although still could be the actuator on the turbo, which usually sets a different code. electrical problems can be really flaky. some connectors are known to have loose pins, so while the part is ok, the wiring is compromised. i would also verify the battery is charging correctly and has good CCAs.
  14. check the sticker on the pass side of the valve cover. make sure it is not a 420 cleveland engine. i push Ford Protect plans for ecoboosts regardless, but especially for 420's.
  15. sorry amigo. this has been bad news for many many members on our FB pages as well Ford corporate to date has helped cover some/most of the bill in some cases tho, when the mileage is reasonable. I would apply to them for assistance, the dealer may provide support in this regard, ask them. The numbers (%ages) may not support it, but we would like to see at least a Customer Satisfaction Program bulletin issued on it.
  16. no iac valve as such, all integrated into the PCM/throttle body electronics. this may help explain http://www.fordservicecontent.com/ford_content/catalog/motorcraft/OBDSM1802-2018.pdf starting pg 262
  17. sometimes the p/n on the box and on the part are not in sync. have seen it happen a few times over the years. ford doesnt want to pay to update the packaging i guess. the p/n on the part should always be the updated one tho.
  18. assuming ford/motorcraft parts were used. if fluid has never been flushed, you will want to do that as well, maybe more than a couple of times, until the fluid remains pink/red and new looking. i don't think you can actually monitor fluid pressure in the steering system, although there is a switch that sets off an alert for too high a pressure.
  19. how many miles on your Edge? there is a banjo bolt kit ford issued but nothing else really for power steering. most issues center around a hose leak needing either brazing or replacement. if power steering has not been flushed regularly, it will cause a number of issues, ending in the failure of the pump and/or rack.
  20. since you have a gen 2 with a 2.0, i would make sure a coolant intrusion issue is not in progress. check coolant level regularly, should pretty much hold steady with engine off and at ambient. if the CEL ever flashes, you may be looking at a block replacement in the future. Ford has issued a TSB for this issue https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jBJQQtJ635aSGsMyyFRKCFyFNNo1KnNw/view?usp=sharing
  21. see lockpick videos on YT for center console (trim) removal.
