The concept of "driving is a privilege, not a right" seems to be elusive, plus revenues generated from vehicle sales/gasoline taxes/traffic fines may be endangered (at least in the politico's eyes). I am all for retesting, but as akirby said, please, COMPREHENSIVE driver test/training throughout the country would be nice. Raise the skill level, and the courtesy level at the same time.

According to the owner guide, the engine oil capacity is 5.5 quarts, you may need less, depending on how well you drain the old oil. 5W20.

Any leaks/drips under the car? Would suggest checking fluid levels before such a long trip, or having a trusted mechanic check them. The guideline is in the Owner's Manual, found here: http://www.motorcraftservice.com/pubs/content/~WO7EDG/~MUS~LEN/40/07edgog3e.pdf HowTo is page 299, spec & capacity of the fluid on page 304. Basically, you need to run the vehicle for about 20 miles to get the trans to warm up fully from a cold start. Personally, I don't know if this is true since I do not have a trans temperature gauge, but that is the process I go by. Do not check if you have run the vehicle for an excessive amount of time or at high (highway) speeds. Have to let everything get cold first (at least that's what the manual implies). Then park, put the parking brake on, and run through the gears, giving each gear a little time to shift into it properly, and return to park. Check fluid level. You may be a few quarts low on your trans fluid, don't be surprised. If so, you will need Mercon V spec fluid. I use Castrol, but any reputable brand should be fine. Add a little at a time until you can confirm the fluid is back in the hatched area on the trans dipstick. HTH.

Zep Citrus? You could also try Zep 505, and if that doesn't work, Zep Purple, which is QUITE strong.

Is this the tow package: Class II receiver hitch; Larger radiator; Upgraded cooling fans; Wiring harness with 4-pin connector; Increases tow capacity to 3500 lbs A worthwhile addition, IMHO. Not so sure on the roof rails, but living where you are, having some AW mats is definitely a good idea. If otherwise the ?? vehicle has everything you want, no reason not to take delivery. Helps with long-term ownership satisfaction

If Ford does not have a solution, you could look for aftermarket installers with MECP (Mobile Electronics Certification Program) credentials. They should be able to help you out. I will ask someone (on another forum) to see what they have to say. UPDATE: Got word back that as far as they know, you would have to install aftermarket, and it would be a custom job. Vendors like Viper provide the hardware/software necessary. Probably will have to use their keyfob for 2 way functionality, not Ford's. HTH.
