  1. The oem wheel locks are easy for crooks to remove. I bought gorilla locks. But the ones that have a spinning colar so criminals cant just jamb a socket over the lock. if you want more info I can get the model number for you.
  2. those are after market skins on his stock 17 wheels. I dont think ford made chrome clad 17" wheels for the edge.
  3. yeah the new shade is fabric and it requires drilling. I have the older vinyl version that uses a hook to attach with out snaps. They should give you a template to drill
  4. Im not sure when or if all Edges were changed to plastic tanks, but my 2012 Limited AWD has a plastic gas tank. Again I think there were maybe three tanks sizes depending on engine and AWD.
  5. Yes that card could be the problem. You may need the A4 card to make it work properly or the A3 card that you have is defective. The dealer should be able to get you an A4 card, possibly for free. Good luck.
  6. My grille is starting to show a little cloudiness or oxidation in one area. Has anyone else experienced this? Im not concerned too much right now because it is minor but I don't want it to get worse and look like my wifes old 2000 Malibu grille. I see a little bit on the next section of grille buff it a little with some Meguiars Plastix and sealed it with spray wax but it doesn't seem to help. The Edge only has 7000 miles and i bought it this past January. Any ideas on how to fix it or if ford will cover this?
  7. Your wheels are not steel. They are aluminum alloy with a chome plated plastic cover. The wheel shouldn't make any noise at all when maneuvering. If it rattles, it is loose and should be replaced. It should never creak or pop because the wheel should have no flex. The only way you'll get pops and creaks from the plastic cover is if the wheel is flexing. If it were a steel wheel with chome clad cover that could possibly happen because steel wheels do have some minor flex. The noise you hear is probably a ball joint, tie rod, wheel bearing, suspension or break caliper shifting. Go to your dealer and tell them to inspect the suspension and wheel components.
  8. I bought a 2012 Ford Edge In January Leftover. I love it and have absolutely no functionality issues with MFT. I use the voice recognition daily to program addresses and it works 90% of the time. I would change a few things relative to layout. I love everything else too. It is very quiet and has all the features I wanted. I have no problems with buttons either once you drive the car a couple weeks you'll know exactly where to press. Just like when you use your TV remote I'm sure you don't need to look at it every time.
  9. I went to my dealership for weather striping that was shrinking and they replaced all the door striping without any questions. Im sure they could repair/fabricate the area that is not to spec and repaint the inside of the door jam if that is what's needed. I would personally leave it the way it is because I never like to disturb factory paint if possible. Ask them to make an agreement that they will repair the weather striping if the glue ever fails as long as you have the car.
  10. I would be curious if you have pictures of what your issue is?
  11. ohh. I think ford changed the center rear head rest on the 2013 not that it matters.
  12. The earlier 2011+ Sport has two pipes from the manifolds back and two mufflers the later sports had two pipes into one muffler with two exits. Some earlier 2011 Sports The other 2011+ Edges have a single larger pipe that runs from a Y-pipe back to a single muffler that has two exhaust exits. If you look under an standard Edge you'll see that it has the exhaust mounts on it for dual exhaust.
  13. that sounds like a heater core to me. It could be a leak at the connections of the heater core too. Just check your coolant level and that should tell ya if it's leaking.
  14. I think ford has a few different tanks based on year and options. Mine is plastic and 19gallons. I think they switched to plastic some time in 2011 or 2012 because of the leak issues with the old metal tanks. I wonder if different tanks are more prone to this problem.
  15. I think the problem is that the tank is molded into two separate tanks because it goes over the driveshaft. So air gets trapped in the tank. I have the same problem when I fill up. Sometimes it fills easy sometimes it fights me.
  16. did you compare the cuts on the keys? Do they look alike?
  17. I think she means the size like 32 mm. Not the torque specs.
  18. Oh and the Reese brand hitch fits beautifully on a Limited bumper. I think Curt makes a hitch that sits an inch lower so that it will work on the Sport bumper without cutting into it.
  19. There is a plug and play after market one by Curt. That is what I used on my Edge.
  20. I have a 2012 Edge Limited noticed a few things about the glass that was different. The side windows are double laminated glass! I thought this was reserved for high end luxury cars. The windshield seems to be special too. It is stamped with this "SoundScreen" logo. Maybe this is why my Edge seems quieter. I was argueing with another person on this forum about the Lincoln being just as quiet as my Edge. Maybe Is this special glass only on the Limited or is it on all the Edges? I only test drove two cars the MKX and my Edge Limited and noticed no difference. Check out the pictures below.
  21. I think I'm going to take it to the dealer and talk to the service dept to see what they say.
  22. I was driving and I could hear a small whistle noise from the glove box. I dropped the glove box and removed the filter to see if maybe the filter door wasn't sealed correctly. But it was sealed up correctly. Then I noticed that the rubber seal on the Blend door(moves up or down to control the exterior air vs the interior) was rough and couple 1" peices had fallen off. I looked closer and noticed that the rubber was a little dryed out and cracked. So the sound was coming from the air being pulled from cabin past the damaged seal. I asked the dealer if that door could be replaced and they said that they would have to replace the whole air box. So I know if I can find that one piece I would just change it out myself in five minutes verses the dealer ripping my car apart. What are your thoughts? I just hate when things are made into bigger issues than really needed. Maybe the dealer could just remove that part for me and install it, instead of replacing that whole heating system? Sound like a little over kill to me. Please keep in mind I was just talking to the parts guy about the part and my car is still under warranty. I rather avoid a major teardown if I can. Usually they break other stuff and it becomes more of a head ache. Also I havent heard the noise for a while but it does bother me that my Edge with less than 6k miles has a messed up blend door.
  23. I think Ford got finally got it together with the Edge in 2012+ so hopefully you'll have an enjoyable ride. CONGRATS.
  24. Im looking for some parts from an Edge or MKX. Heating system related. Please let me know.
