  1. Stopped by the local Dealer to see about the passenger airbag on my '07 (and to show off my new horns ). They said they haven't even started to replace anyone's because of a lack of parts.
  2. It works. Not something I would want on my Edge, but doesn't sound bad for the short clip. Are you going to make another one with some throttle in it?
  3. Posted the vijeo in my thread: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/22649-my-horny-edge/ Mac is gonna kill me. Barq's Root Beer is a regional drink that was bought by Coke some time ago. Coke changed the formula and released that as a national brand. They still make the local formula and it's found only in limited areas in glass bottles. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barq%27s She probably has the largest stash on the East coast. I will have to stop by the Sprawl-mart to weigh what a single six-pack, then multiply that 40 to get the total weight of soda pop. EDIT: Single, glass six-pack of Barq's Root Beer is 8.65 pounds. I hauled 346 pounds of product. Was tempted to drive through a CAT weigh station at one of the truck stops, but at $11, I was too cheap to do so. Not sure how much I had when I loaded the back with sod, but most of that weight was rear of the back wheels. There was also a headstone. We interred the wife's late husband's ashes at Arlington. He had a marker stone down here and we brought it up to her. Not sure of the weight on that, but it rode on it's side behind the passenger seat. I'm judging about 100 pounds. Didn't ride that bad on the way up there. Averaged about 20-21mpg. On the way back about 23. All at about 70-80mph.
  4. Loaded down the Edge with china, headstone and 10 cases of Barq's root beer in the glass bottle (explanation when I get back) for a road trip from MS to VA. Spread the weight out as forward, low and best I could. The trip around the block wasn't bottoming out, but I still need to put the wife's luggage in there.... Should be back in around two weeks with the horn upgrade video. Son-in-law has an Edge, so I am hoping to do a side by side comparison.
  5. In theory it's easy-peasy to have a unique horn. Some people tune, change suspension, max out the sound system. Stuff like this fits my budget. I'll admit that the sound isn't as harmonious as I would like; a bit staccoo. The best horns I've ever had were on my '66 Valiant and those are way rarer to find. $5 at Ye Ol' Picke & Pulleth. I'm not much of a horn user to begin with, so I'm not looking to cause grandpa to fill his Depends, but it's nice to make your presence known. I'll try and get a video up soon. I think I'll do one from a distance to really showcase it's awesome power.
  6. Put the front clip back together. Horns get your attention for sure. Only issue is that next to the hood latch there were two bolts that held the plastic down. When I went to install them, the bolts fell down like there isn't any threads underneath the plate. It's not going anywhere, but I thought things like that were welded in place. Also, with the under hood fuse box, is there a fuse that I can tap into that will come on with the ignition? I was thinking of adding LED daytime driving lights and was looking for an easy install.
  7. Had a set of Cadillac horns that i wanted to install my '07 SEL. Don't know what exact year they are from, but they have a single power spade. Long story short, tapped into the horn pigtail wires and tied them into a 40amp relay (just because it was available). I used the mounting tabs on the horns, but had to bend them back about 45 degree angle to mount them to a section of the driver side fender. Had to enlarge the holes a tad and drill an extra one for the metal nib that keeps them from rotating. I ran the power from the battery through a inline fuse . Definitely louder. I'll try to post a video of the noise.
  8. Installed my new black Ford front oval: http://www.ebay.com/itm/252939053565?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Dropped my socket down to the lower radiator, so I took the entire front clip off and started hacking at the wiring to install my Caddy horns. Spliced into the existing horn pigtail to run over to the relay switch; even soldered it. I was hoping that a single wire would of been enough to trip the relay, but I ended up having to splice both to make the circuit in the relay. Not the prettiest, but black tape hides the flaws. Had to enlarge the holes in the driver side fender to allow for the bolt as well as the little metal nubby. I have placed the front clip back on, but it looks like it should clear. I'll run that harness over to the driver side to supply the relay and make my power supply line shorter. Not the most graceful, but it should work. I'll have an inline fuse coming off the battery. On a side note, does anyone have a line on a horn pigtail for an '07? I just want one in case I come up with a more elegant plan. For now I'm leaving the stock horns hooked up - the Caddy ones should drown them out. I'm looking for a stock replacement if I want to change things back. I did find this thread http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/4278-aftermarket-horns-anybody/ It seems that I could use a 9006 headlight pigtail, but nothing seemed to fit at AutoZone. I have a feeling that it will take a special FoMoCo connection to work. Of course, since I have the front clip off and I haven't had enough electrical setbacks, maybe I'll look into some LED daytime driving lights I can plaster in there, Which fuse socket do I tap into under the hood to make them come on with the key?
  9. If you have a YouTube account, just link the video onto your post. Like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3FkNfxnvPU If you just put the raw address of your video into your post, you get the YT screen. Using the link feature from the bar above gets you the clickable hotlink above. As for the exhaust, has anyone put lake pipes on an Edge?
  10. Yes. Same can of clear coat as in the video (Rust-Oleum?) Went a little nuts with the over spray, but you can bare see it. It's not a mirror-smooth finish on the headlight, but still fairly visibly clear. Didn't want to take a chance on any runs. The main thing is to keep the air off the plastic (UV protection doesn't hurt, either).
  11. Bad before and after pics, but you get the idea. Must of got a little close on the lower high beam area the first time, but a light scuffing with 600 grit followed by 2000 seemed to work. Started a little bit late in the day so it sat in the garage as long as possible before having to go out in the rain, but it seems like it was mostly dried. Light down the road seems a bit 'whiter' than before with all the haze, but nothing like the wife's LED's. Time will tell as to how well it holds up.
  12. Re-sanded the clear coat. Should be repainting the headlights today with maybe pics tomorrow after they are fully dried.
  13. Headlights weren't bad, but showing their age. I tried this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEJbKLZ7RmM&t=659s Looked a bit better, but I screwed up on the clear coat on the high beam section. I will try and get around to sanding it down and trying again later this week. Doesn't look that bad - there are still 'fractures' in the plastic that won't come out. I took some before pics and once I start on trying to fix them, I'll try and get some 'screw up' and after pics posted.
  14. I'm 50 and always liked the look of the Lincoln over the basic Ford. I can understand some of the issues of the controls in the MK; the last one I looked into had a push button drive selector. I'm sure I would get used to it, but I'm old-fashioned when it comes to things like that. As a side note, one Edge owner I talked to said the MKX was a lot more to insure.
  15. Actually looks kinda high, but being all clean and such, it's tough to tell. Followed the owner's manual instructions. Probably will go to my local mechanic tomorrow to have them check it as an outside opinion. It seems to be getting better as time and miles increase.
  16. Drove home OK. Did the negative off - jumper to positive thing this morning. Shift slipping even more pronounced now.
  17. Dropped my '07 off at the dealership for the TSS/OSS. Pray for me.
  18. Everyone is in a pinch and all jacked up. Just need to release the pressure and let things come down.
  19. Coming off a BMW, you really can't take cloverleafs at 60+mph in an Edge. (Now watch someone try and post the link to the rollover.)
  20. Money no object, I would be driving a MKX. If I wanted/needed 400hp, I would be driving something else.
