BUY RETRO-SOLUTIONS HIDS!!!
BlazedUp replied to Hurtman's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Thats the one thing I am glad about Hurt....your welcome. I just wish they could have sent me the right harness after my trial and errors. I'm glad you are having no issues, that is the way it should be, but not always the case with aftermarket. Like I have said, Todd did work with me on this but it could have been handled better. I agree they do have better customer service than others, but with any aftermarket mod, there is a risk of damaging other components on the vehicle. Now you can reap the bennies of my R&D if you will, and have a kit that actually works as it should. Thanks for the shout Hurt.......turning 30 doesn't really bother me as much as I thought it would. After all, I have been going downhill since 25 ! hahaha. I believe I reached a plateau for now....or at least until I turn 40 !! -
Stay Away from Retro-solutions HID !

You consider that an "attack" . Geez, you don't get out much do you. The kit didn't work, it messed up my car and cost me $1,000. They didnt do everything that they could do.......sending me the right harness would have been a start. I had to piece meal that cheap garbage kit and still didn't get all my money back. I am the sole reason for the Edge specific harness through my trial and error. I like Lex, he has a vast knowledge of these vehicles and has helped me out several times. Your right, I did get "stung" and they only thing that would help me resolve my anger issue is to inflict physical harm, but I don't feel like driving 3.5 hours to beat somebody's ass. I can and will post my issues with this kit and the company on this forum as well as many other car forums......for every customer I turn away from HID's and or retro.....My anger level subsides. It helps me deal and makes me feel better. A phone number would have been nice. I know now why they have no listed number. -

I hear ya Hurt, glad you are happy. I usually do shoot the right person..... -
3 year 36,000 miles.

I believe this issue occurs on the 09's as well. I had mine repaired at 15,000 miles.......I now have 26,000 and no smell/leaks. I feel I am the lucky one.

The outer clear coated aluminum rim will pit/flake and look horrible. Had all 4 replaced ......and will have replaced again after this winter and before 36,000 miles !

The "edge specific harness" was not available at the time of order. It did work, just not with the auto-on feature. The harness connections were cheap, touch them and the lights flickered on and off. It was indeed installed correctly , just not working correctly. I should have been sent the correct harness which was manufactured after I placed thge order due to the issues I have had. I was sent a "tap in" cap to install on the harness.....plug and play my ace. Retro's kits are the same overseas garbage you can get for $89.99. I loved them when they worked...... -
The Edge drives on snow covered roads like they are clean and dry. Awesome traction and sure footed handling. I can't wait for it to snow now !

True. I wish it did work out, but it didn't. I remember someone on here posting that the possibility exists of blowing out the SJB and how expensive it is to repair......on a side note, the liftgate "ding, ding, ding" upon full open hasnt happened in 2 weeks ! There is alot tied into that SJB. -
Their cheapo kit ended up blowing out the SJB smart junction box on my wifes Edge. The grand total for repair was $1,000 !! Service manager said that this issue is all too common with this specific electrical system. You will probably have the same issue with any other HID kit, but the Kits retro sells for around $200 are the same exact kits that others sell for around $100. Save your money and buy some silverstars. Todd did refund my money minus 20% restocking fee.

The sport does not have the sub. -
My Edge must have been assembled on a Monday morning, and "quality checked" on a Friday afternoon..... After a sleuth of issues with this vehicle, my wife and I still love it.....it is an awesome vehicle when it's not in the shop. Ford shelled out over $8,000 of repairs and labor in a vehicle with 25,000 miles on it. I am seriously considering the ESP.

I thought all LED's need a resistor wired in paralell. I too would like to know which ones you used......name brand and where you purchased them. I would like to match the LED third brake light......It looks weird driving behind my wife when she hits the brakes because the timing of the LED's is noticeable....I know its measured in milliseconds, but you can obviously see the third light come on sooner than the tails.

I hope you have better luck than I did with that HID kit. Let us know how they work out for you. -
What brand of filter did you use ?
-
Also, when it comes time to replace all the batteries that power the car....probably in 3 years or so....the fuel savings fly right out the window!
-
How long have you been a mechanic kirb ?
-
1.) 6 quarts. 2.) It's possible. 3.) You fry the gears in the PTU.

Take it to a different dealer. -
The pedal height should never change. As the pads wear, the brake pedal will travel further when applying the brakes.
