  1. Sounds like you are building up crankcase pressure. Your oil level shouldn't have anyeffect on what you are experiencing. I have 40K on mine and always have used 6 qts for the change and at each oil change, I inspect and clean the air filter and hev never seen any indication of oil in the filter housing. Check your PCV valve.
  2. The problem is that vehicles without separate frames (unibody) will always have more road noise than vehicles with a frame such as a pick-up--- Tires make a lot of noise if they are of a compound thet has decent longevity and traction. The edge is a crossover and has no separate frame. I think it is exceptionally quiet compared to some other unibody crossovers, but I could be wrong--- Seems like the vehicle manufacturers are getting better on noise control with the newer products and I simply haven't driven anything past mu 08 edge.
  3. But it does describe what the sticker looks like and where it is located-----
  4. The owner's manual is another good place for that information!
  5. Windshield air on will usually have the a/c compressor running when the temperature is above 50 degrees so, the water you see is condensation from your evaporator. A normal thing.
  6. https://www.logical-source.com/2007-ford-edge-8770.html The above link will allow you to buy the filters for $3.91 each + shipping--- I just got 3 from them.
  7. All the more reason to not buy their cars!
  8. It may well be within Ford specs, but alignment could still be the problem. Get a read out from the alignment machine and post the readings. Then I'll be able to tell you if alignment is still the problem. The critical angle that will cause more pull is caster. The vehicle will always pull towards the negative caster side. The second area is the rear alignment --- Anyway, get a readout.
  9. That's strange---- I have lived all over the US and have never had an A/C with an odor problem-- I also have lived in Houston for the past 23 years without any a/c odor problems-- I simply use outside air and make sure that the water drain for the evaporator is working properly. Now, I've fixed several problems for other folks who were unaware that using the re-circulate position all the time could cause mildew to build, and if you wanna see what mildew is, just com on down here and watch that black crap grow all around--- anyway, fresh air and some Lysol is a sure cure!
  10. When the vehicle is not moving, there should be a water drip coming from underneath when the A/C is running. If you never see any water dripping under the car, it's possible that the drain for the evaporator is stopped up. The drain is located under the vehicle close to the gas pedal. Inside the car, pull the carpet back and locate the rubber hose--- Here's a link that will be helpful--- http://www.fixya.com/cars/t4066591-2007_ford_edge_blocked_condensation
  11. Make sure that the drain for the evaporator water is open and make sure also that you are running it in the "Automatic" position with the outside air allowed-- If you have the button pressed for "Re-Circulate" you will have no air coming into the system from the outside and mildew will form makingt the smell. Change it over to outside air and spray some Lysol into the air intake on the cowl in front of the windshield.
  12. You left out the most important tool for brake rotor/drum removal when seemingly rusted in place--- The "HOT WRENCH"--- heating the rotor up with a torch(even a small propane torch) will make it easy to remove.
  13. Stick the magnetic antenna to the right side of the hood.
  14. Gee, I guess your comment covered it all--- I never should have ever put my 2 cents worth in--- It all depends upon how you want to utilize the dipstick. I personally like to see the oil on the full mark for a reference. If you like 5.5 qts, why not make your own mark on the dipstick at that level? Oil helps cool the engine, so I like as much as practical. As long as it is not above the full mark on the dipstick it will be a help to dissipate heat.
  15. So, what's the use of having a dipstick? When it shows the oil to be on the "add" mark, will you add 1 qt. or just 1/2 qt? Adding a full qt. will put it to the full mark on the dipstick. At 5.5 qts, you have to store the extra 1/2 till the next change or add it when anf if the level goes down to the add mark. Why not simply start at the full mark and not worry about it?
  16. After the fact repairs are a function of mistakes caused by engineering --- maybe production engineering, but it's still engineering. Torque steer on the edge is minimal--- but is still there. Something you'll have to live with even after their "fix". There is no "perfect" vehicle. I don't care what you drive from a Citroen 2CV to a Maybach--- nothing fits everybody. There will always be something that someone will find offensive enough to complain about. If enough folks complain, there will be a fix--- sometimes, and sometimes you'll simply have to either trade the thing off or live with the offensive problem till you can't stand it any longer. Case in point--- I bought a Toyota Sienna in '04--- Great vehicle if all you cared about was that it didn't break. It was the most uncomfortable vehicle I ever had in 2 areas--- The arm rests in the front were way too low and the center seats could not be reclined because the seat back would make a uncomfortable lump in the small of your back. I traded off a 2000 Ford Windstar because every trip to the dealer to fix something was a 2 trip event. They never fixed anything right the first time. The Windstar had the most comfortable interior of anything I ever drove. --- but it broke frequently.
  17. And it obviously is NOT EXCELLENT on the Edge---
  18. It's still a function of crappy engineering of the front axles---- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torque_steering
  19. It's called "tourque steer" and seems to be really prevalent in the Edge-- when Ford came out with the original Taurus back in '86, they engineered "torque steer" out. I owned an '87 Mercury Sable and never had any torque steer symptoms ---I figured that they had kept the same axle engineering and passed it forward to the Edge--- not my first ever mistake about engineers!
  20. My '08 has taken 6 qts for every oil change--- After the first time, I just put in the 6 and when I check it, it shows it to be just right on the dipstick.
  21. This subject was beat to death a month ago--- No one can prove any gas mileage improvement. Don't waste your money.
  22. Been using a set of Weathertech in channel vent visors for 2 years now on my edge--- they work well. I also have used them on my wife's SanteFe, and my old Toyota Sienna--- they are the only way to go!
