  1. Thanks for the link. I just ordered one. I found the silicon key fobs work, but a pain to pull out of your pants pocket. Also, they collect a lot of lint.
  2. I whole heartedly agree with the above comments
  3. Delayed Reboot utility - http://outofmytouch.com/reboot.html
  4. I like Sirius for the following reasons. I mostly listen to Bluesville and RealJazz. The Bluesville channel exposed me to blues artists I never knew about. I've learned more about specific artists. The downside, I spent more money on my music collection. I listen to RealJazz many mornings during the drive to work. The music helps keep me calm while dealing with the mental midgets who failed driver's education. Several mornings in a row I listened to a lot of Coltrane. I can understand people's reluctance to pay for sat radio. I hear you, but in my case I do like sat radio.
  5. No. leave the Nav card in. I've never lost any settings when using the delayed reboot; it's like pulling fuse 29.
  6. Go here and download the Delayed Reboot utility http://outofmytouch.com/reboot.html When Sync acts up run the utility. Note, you won't lose your Nav Favorites, etc. I just keep a USB Drive in my console for the moment.
  7. I listen to Sirius stations. Bluesville and Real Jazz. I'm exposed to music and artists in both genres I never knew existed. I enjoy listening to the artist interviews, live tracks, etc. The result, I bought more CDs. Yes, I still purchase CDs when possible. I've even thought about buying a new turntable and spinning vinyl.
  8. You may want to check out the videos in the link - http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/4863-problem-fix-for-vista-roof/ No idea whether or not they'll help. but worthwhile. I remember when the gentleman posted the videos. I hope they help
  9. I believe you're talking about the rear cargo cover. I leave mine on all the time and never removed it. I'm not certain I understand the question, "Also do any of you that have one have a system and if you do does it rattle or make any noise? " If you're talking about the cargo cover I don't hear noise from it. Just guessing at the question. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/7896-piddly-but-annoying-cargo-cover/
  10. You're welcome, Jackman. Glad I could help.
  11. My system provides traffic updates when I've set a destination. For example, last Saturday I received an alert asking if I wanted to avoid construction along my intended route. If I don't specify a destination I've seen the highway turn red on the map. However, no actual alert message appears. A Garmin I occasionally still use failed to notify me of heavy traffic until I sat motionless in traffic. I guess the traffic updates hit or miss for all vendors. I expect when more cars start running MFT equivalents and come with their own wireless networks we'll actually receive true traffic updates when the cars phone home. I've used WAZE on my iPhone, but only when I'm stationary. I don't want to play with screen while driving. I know WAZE gives a lot of real time updates.
  12. Found it! Here's a link you can read (http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/11330-view-your-window-sticker-online/?hl=%2Bwindow+%2Bsticker) which describes an online resource to view your window sticker. IMO, if you question the sales guy's integrity go to the link and check. You may get some piece of mind. Good luck! I've run into a few bad sales guys and many good ones. Unfortunately, we primarily remember the bad ones, but the good guys I try to send referrals.
  13. I found a pair of 2013 Ford Edge factory Crossbars for $225 at http://www.dealerfit.com/ford/edge-roof-rails-prod831_18381.php IMO, go with the Yakimas because you can easily move the bars for the necessary spacing. You need the peace of mind the cargo carriers attached correctly. I carry kayaks on Thules; never liked round bars. :shades: I've spent a lot of money on Thule equipment over the years and never regretted the purchases.
  14. I saw my first Tesla Model S today on RTE 3 in Burlington, Ma. Great looking car.
  15. Definitely get MFT again. Yes, suffered through a few problems, but overall like the system. I own Nav too and yes, I'd get Nav again. IMO, Ford's MFT light years ahead of the others. I still don't understand the joystick crowd. I found it in German cars and a Lexus RX 350 when I went to the autoshow. They use a joystick to move between options and screens. Also, I like the big screen used by Ford vs the smaller screens shipped in many cars.
  16. Nope, no indicator light. I'm in a 2011 Edge, but seriously doubt Ford installed an indicator for the '12's. Generally, I look for the ambient blue light at my feet or some look for a light in the center console cupholders.
  17. I quickly searched for a liner. I've seen some "pet" liners online, but no plastic cargo liners. However, checkout http://www.trunk-liners.com/trunk-liner-products.asp The extendable liner might work. Another suggestion, head to Wally World's auto department. I've seen clear plastic cargo liners for short dough. If you're trying to cover the second row seat back when the seat's down once in a while maybe an alternative.
  18. Great color! I saw one at the NE Auto Show thinking the car looked great
  19. Four total delayed reboots and the system's working correctly again. No idea why I ran into the strange problems.
  20. Hello, I'm looking for some advice. Tonight, on the way home from work I encountered a strange issue. When I select the Travel Link Weather Map I see a map briefly then the screen returns to the home page. Also, saw a msg indicating unable to read Nav SD card. I can select Navigation on the screen, but sometimes after a pause while Nav loads. Hit Weather Map again and you're returned to home screen. Strange! Before I hit the gym I loaded the Delayed Reboot App you can download from here http://outofmytouch.com/reboot.html I received my orignal on our Ford Edge forum immediately after someone posted it. The reboot didn't fix the problem. Next, performed the dreaded Master Reboot; I hate losing all of my Nav waypoints. I need to re-enter them AGAIN after I think, I forget how many times. The master reset seems to help for a bit, but my Nav system now wants to default to a location in Detroit until the GPS syncs. Also, the Weather Map's back to it's tricks returning to the home page. If I select my home waypoint the Nav sets the map correctly. My question, do any of you recall where to set our default weather location adn maybe a default home location? I recall Garmins request your home territory during the setup mode and if you move you can again change the home location. Yes, it's different from your actual home waypoint. I looked in the Touch PDF, but so far, no joy. I'm fortunate because I didn't run into the continous MFT problems other guys did, but to date dealer replaced a dead APIM, bad radio front panel which turned my heat up to max and flaky key fob. BTW, I'm running MFT 3.5.1 and A4 SD card. I upgraded over a week ago without any problems except a few why did they code it that way. I thought about playhing fuse 29, but we know how much we all like trying to find the fuse when wearing glasses. Thanks, Rich
  21. Login into http://www.syncmyride.com then under Updates follow the instructions to order a new A4 card.
  22. Log into your acount http://www.syncmyride.com/Own/Modules/LandingPage/ManageSync.aspx then click on Sync updates. If you see an update mentioned under Sync Updates, download to a USB drive and upgrade MFT. Once you complete the installation replace your A3 SD card with the A4 SD card and update Sync My Ride site. Note, you'll receive an email telling you to update SMR after updating MFT.
  23. I received my A4 card Thursday after ordering it Tuesday night; impressive! Downloaded the code last night to a USB. The process took about an hour; talk about slow servers! Installation today. I stopped to eat after attending the New England Auto Show. When I came out of the restaurant I started the process and once it started, drove home. Note, you'll possibly go through four total reboots. Also, step one took several mintues plus a reboot before and after, step six maybe five minutes then a reboot and finally, a screen stating installing patches or something similiar and the process may take twenty minutes. I spent about seven minutes riding around in slience. Finally, the radio starts playing your last station, AM or FM, pops a screen and a voice tells you process completed, but don't take out your USB drive until the final message appears. The voice tells you to go to SMR and run the link to update your installation history after inserting your USB in your system. OK, paired my phone no problem. However, lost my Nav favorites AGAIN. My last upgrade I never lost my Nav Favorites. I sure wish they'd write a backup routine. I did find a few changes or surprises while re-entering my Nav favorites. When changing the state from my home state of Mass, I ran into trouble. I could not change the state UNLESS I selected the numeric value next to the state textbox and scrolled to change the state. Ok, I can live with the change. Next, minor problem, entering a numeric value on a street. I found a couple of cases when the most of the keyboad's grayed out. I simply selected the street name textbox then went back to street number. I'm used to "experimenting" with software because my jobs in software support and I write diagnostic software. We just get used to "playing". I hope the info helps people on the fence; do I install my own software or head to the dealer.
  24. Purchase black foam at a craft store or Lowes and Home Depot sell a roll of black cabinet shelf liner. Lots of options exist including recycling an old mouse pad like Egar mentioned.
