mklee176
Good afternoon everyone! Seeing how my last post didn't even get one response, I wanted to see if any of my fellow Edge owners will post their opinion, solutions, or ideas to this post. I have a 2008 SE, and during my last car wash, I discover the rubber moldings that seals the privacy glass to the body is melting. It's literally melting. When I touch it, it's soft and gooey, it reminds me of wet tar. I went to the dealership, and they said they have no idea why it's doing that. They could replace it, but since I'm not under warranty, I'd need to pay over $300 out of pocket! Anyone ever experienced this? Any ideas what's causing it? Any DIY ideas? Thanks! autom8r
I am experiencing the same issue at the rubber around the stationary windows on the rear doors. No where else on the car. Definitely strange.
Ivan
Hi, I am experiencing the same melting that you describe on the rubber around the rear window (trunk hatch). It is Edge 2022. I am very disappointed. ford.htm Edited October 17 by Ivan wrong file attached

Samurai Edge Posted yesterday at 03:35 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 03:35 PM First question that pops to mind: Are you cleaning your rubber moulding with anything? Any kind of chemicals, just water, windex, etc.? Anything at all? Something you are using may be degrading the moulding.
garycrist Posted yesterday at 05:33 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 05:33 PM It is bad rubber molding The crap just falls apart due to UV and heat. I know as I have an 08 Limited. At 1st it was an air leak I fixed with a length of vacuum line to hold the window in and stop the air leak. (Driver's side)
