Rubber moldings around glass

Good afternoon everyone!

Seeing how my last post didn't even get one response, I wanted to see if any of my fellow Edge owners will post their opinion, solutions, or ideas to this post.

I have a 2008 SE, and during my last car wash, I discover the rubber moldings that seals the privacy glass to the body is melting.

It's literally melting. When I touch it, it's soft and gooey, it reminds me of wet tar.

I went to the dealership, and they said they have no idea why it's doing that. They could replace it, but since I'm not under warranty, I'd need to pay over $300 out of pocket!

Anyone ever experienced this? Any ideas what's causing it? Any DIY ideas?

Thanks!

Hi all,  and thank you for chiming in. It looks like wet silicone and on the photo is a tree leaf that I can insert the stem into the gasket and then it leaves a hole in it.  No, I am not cleaning the window with anything unusual, only car soap by hand or when I go to car wash. I have had other cars before, my family owns different brands and only the Edge is with melting seal. Today I was surprised with a quote from a dealership $1000 plus taxes because the entire 🤯window has to be replaced since the gasket is glued to the window. I asked for assistance from Ford and I was told NOOOOOO. My car has less than 37K miles and has 3y 10m and it is falling apart. The initial issue that I went to the dealership was faulty Gateway module  and for it I was quoted $2849+ taxes. The window gasket is the secondary issue. I guess I hit the jackpot. NEVER again I will be buying Ford
