atulo
I follow the recommendation in this forum every 30K miles. Low cost maintenance. Edited Monday at 03:25 PM by atulo

Normal operating conditions? 150,000 miles(!?!?!?!?!) Towing, using a car top carrier, extensive idling, low speed driving, sandy or dusty conditions? every 30,000 miles
TourGuide
The 2.0 is known to be hard on the trans fluid, so refreshing it on the early side seems like a good call. I try to live by the motto - It is cheaper to replace the fluid than the part. In this specific case - a lot cheaper. edgeidiot Posted yesterday at 12:35 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 12:35 PM Do you have an extended warranty? Having worked in an auto repair facility, I have seen too many cases where we would refuse to change the ATF (we did not have the flush machine) because of the interval between changes. I am old school. I changed the engine oil at 1K and transmission fluid at 15K. I would have changed the rear differential at 5K, but my Edge is FWD, and I bought the extended warranty. bruker Posted yesterday at 05:50 PM Author Report Share Posted yesterday at 05:50 PM It has 75,000 miles on it and the transmission fluid's never been changed. Just normal driving but mostly interstate so haven't been rough on it. Lately I've noticed a slight hunting, jerking, stuttering, whatever you want to call it at low speeds (under 40mph) but only when the transmission isn't up to temperature. Once it warms up it's fine. It's going into the local garage next week for a drain and fill so hopefully that will help. Watched some videos on YT and a few of them added Instant Shudder Fix. Not planning to add it unless someone here has had some experience with it.
garycrist Posted yesterday at 05:59 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 05:59 PM I have never believed that changing tranny fluid on a high mileage vehicle would cause slippage. The normal reason the customer would change the fluid, was because of problems to begin with. (on high mileage transmission) Fresh fluid will not hurt the bands, clutches, steels or seals. Nor will it "wash" the friction material off the clutches or bands too. Most people have no idea what is inside anyway!
