  1. Up until 2000 or so you did have to take your Ford back to the selling dealer for warranty work unless you were more than 50 miles away. Thank goodness they stopped that nonsense.
  2. Yes, as Waldo stated. I was using that as a reference for durability because the 3.5L Ecoboost twin turbo has been in use since 2009 and has a much longer history than the 2.0L EB.
  3. Always heard good things about Akins.
  4. Well, it is just like a Fusion a bit higher off the ground. Not sure what you were expecting there. I'm actually excited about it because it is just like my Fusion - I know I will like it! And just to be clear - you can buy from one dealer and get it serviced at another one. There are no restrictions there.
  5. It doesn't slow down at higher RPM - it just kinda levels out (on my Fusion that is) instead of continuing to pull harder. And the newer 2.0LEB may be different. The higher torque off the line more than makes up for that IMO.
  6. Was that on the F150s or the sedans/cuvs? I didn't know about those.
  7. Those are classic low battery symptoms - get yourself a jump starter box just to be safe. They're cheap and work great. I would recommend getting the battery tested for CCAs. Some places use older testers that don't tell the whole story. I also recommend topping off the battery with distilled water every year or two and you might want to invest in a C-tek or similar charger - just put that on once a month or so and should keep it in peak condition when you can't drive a lot.
  8. All U.S. vehicles get their 2.0L ecoboost engines from Ohio, not Spain. There is no turbo maintnenance and I have yet to hear of a turbo failure on any ecoboost engine and the 3.5L has been around since 2009 including F150s. These are not the turbos of the 1980s - they're very durable.
  9. The 2.0T has a lot of torque right off the line but runs out of steam at high RPM. 3.5L is more even from what I remember. Both are good and most people wouldn't notice any difference.
  10. I would probably get the BAMR just so I can say BAMR and explain to people what it meant and where it came from.....
  11. Was it low on oil? Was there evidence of an oil leak? Did the dealer do all the maintenance? Best bet is a used engine - should be plentiful and much cheaper than a new one.
  12. I have a problem when people make anecdotal claims that are contradicted by actual scientific testing and a basic understanding of how a modern engine works. I apologize for being so sarcastic but this comes up again and again and it's tiring. No harm in reporting a mpg increase after a filter change, just don't try to tie the two directly together without some type of scientific testing to back it up.
  13. That tells me there is some problem between the dealer and Ford and Ford is not going to make that public. Go to another dealer.
  14. There wouldn't be recalls because these aren't really safety related (not by NHTSA standards at least). What you're really asking is why Ford didn't extend the factory warranty on these parts. I think they should have, and Ford does this for some parts but not for these. Obviously either they don't think it's a big enough problem or they simply don't want to cover the costs.
  15. And BTW - the air filter on carbureted vehicles can have a big effect on mpg because there is no adjustment to compensate for the change in airflow. But the reason it doesn't matter on modern vehicles is that it's a closed loop system - it measures the efficiency of the combustion and adjusts the fuel to provide the proper A/F ratio regardless of how much air is coming in through the filter. One guy even put a cloth diaper over his air filter and tested it. He had almost no power but his mpg actually went up slightly.
  16. First - you need to calm down and knock off the personal attacks. I never called you a liar or implied that your mileage did not go up by 3 mpg. But it most certainly was not due to the air filter. Why don't you try swapping the old filter back in and see if it goes back down? There are dozens of factors at play here. Go to K&N's website and look for any empirical test results showing before and after fuel economy. There are hundreds of dyno graphs showing hp improvements. Why no MPG graphs? Waldo nailed it. If Ford could improve their city mpg by 3 mpg (or even 1 or 2) just by spending $35 per vehicle and using a different air filter, don't you think they'd be doing it already? If you don't believe us, them maybe you'll believe fueleconomy.gov and Oak Ridge National Laboratory. http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/pdfs/Air_Filter_Effects_02_26_2009.pdf Or this guy: http://www.metrompg.com/posts/air-filter-part-2.htm Or K&N:
  17. It makes just as much sense as gaining 3 mpg from one K&N filter.
  18. Bad that you had that type of problem but glad you had a good dealer to take care of it.
  19. Its supposed to cool both. There have been problems with the seatback cooling on several 2015 models. Was hoping they had fixed it for the 2016s.
  20. Is it really that bad? I had piano black on my 06 Fusion for almost 7 years and nary a scratch.
  21. Maybe it's better to think you improved performance rather than proving you didn't......
