  1. I know but you said Ford recommends 8000 KM and that's not exactly true - they recommend going by the IOLM. It's perfectly ok to change it early, although it seems wasteful to me. But that's not what Ford recommends.
  2. I'm not getting into this again. Forget whatever I said about MFT and sync 3 and believe whatever you want to believe.
  3. I completely agree that problems like that should be fixed under warranty. Sometimes they extend the warranties - like the APIM, Focus transmissions, etc. - and sometimes they don't. But that's not unusual. Go find any older version of software and there is a known problems list that they aren't going to fix unless you upgrade to the newer version. I think Ford has addressed 98% of the MFT problems with new software and extended APIM warranty. Unfortunately you seem to be in the 2% so it's understandable that you're upset about it.
  4. The 2015s have IOLM and should not have a set interval like 8000 kms. Could be as high as 12000 kms or more.
  5. Not painting a rosy picture - just a realistic one. I've never argued that the software wasn't terrible but sometimes you make mountains out of molehills. And you're confused again about what I said. I did not say the RUMOR was that sync 3 as is would be backwards compatible. It isn't due to the hardware differences (e.g. pinch to zoom won't work). What I said was I heard it mentioned that a new version of sync 3 might be made available to MFT vehicles which would include most of the new sync 3 features but that would work on the old hardware (so no pinch to zoom, e.g.). It would be a different version obviously. I only heard it mentioned once so it's not guaranteed but it makes sense from a long term support standpoint. If you understand IT/Software development then what they're doing makes more sense.
  6. I think the spec takes all that into account, so it shouldn't matter whether it's natural or synthetic or a blend as long as it meets the spec..... Now it may be that only a synthetic blend or full synthetic can meet the spec.....
  7. There is a difference between "won't" do anything and "can't" do anything especially with software. They obviously put a lot of effort into bug fixes as evidenced by the number of releases the first 2 years, but there is a limit to how many bugs you can fix at one time and it's likely that every time they fixed 2 bugs they found another one due to how bad the original software was. At a certain point you can't afford to keep chasing it and you put your efforts into sync 3 and start over. I have heard rumors that a MFT compatible version of sync 3 will be forthcoming and if so that should fix the vast majority of any outstanding MFT issues. That would be much easier than trying to support both sync 3 and MFT at the same time going forward.
  8. There is no factory help. Your best bet is to work with your dealer to see if they can help you out on covering the costs.
  9. What year was your Edge? Early models didn't have IOLM and it was simply mileage based. It's also possible your programming is different and simply assumes the worst case scenario based on the average climate in Qatar.
  10. Not wrong at all. They should replace it no questions asked.
  11. You don't need to idle 2 to 5 minutes. Ceramics changed a lot with turbos.
  12. Just a note which will probably piss off a few people, but it needs to be repeated: The dealer is not Ford and Ford is not the dealer. Some dealers are better than others. There isn't much Ford can do if the dealer tech is incompetent and doesn't follow procedures. Ford is definitely responsible for the quality of the software and the hardware and we all know they screwed the pooch on that one with MFT.
  13. Never ever ever ever follow the dealer's recommendations unless you like to throw money away. The owner's manual is very clear - follow the IOLM (intelligent oil life monitor). It doesn't actually test the oil but it factors in how the vehicle is driven, temperatures, etc. to determine when the oil should be changed. You can easily go 5K - 10K miles between changes in normal conditions. But don't go over 10K miles. If it says you have 68% left, you have 68% left and you shouldn't even think about getting it changed unless it's been more than 12 months.
  14. Pics aren't there any more. It's easy enough without them - just remove the glove box and it should be obvious.
  15. Did it come with a power liftgate that opens it automatically? If not then that's all it's supposed to do. If it came with a power liftgate maybe you have it disabled? What happens when you press the button on the liftgate?
  16. Latest dates are the order bank opens 10/12 so the order guide should be out within the next 2 weeks but it's not available yet.
  17. Haven't seen it posted yet but I'll check with Ice-Capades over on BOFs.......
  18. Should be able to order now, but I'd wait to see if there are any material holds or features that won't be available right away.
  19. The steering angle and yaw sensors are part of the normal stability control already so it was easy to add trailer sway control.
  20. Could be that AWD units already have the beefier bars or it could just be a supply/demand issue with far more FWD units being sold.
  21. It's called the Incentive Protection Program and the dealer must enroll to use it, but as far as I know it's still available. But a lot of dealers don't seem to know about it. Some info: http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forums/2011-2014-mustang-talk/473337-incentive-protection-program.html
  22. That's what it used to be, but a few years ago Ford introduced a program that allowed the dealer to lock in incentives at the time of order and you had the choice of those or what was there when you took delivery. I think it was only available to "select" dealers at the time. It's always been that way in Canada. Several folks have purchased this way in the states over the last few years but it's not clear whether this is still restricted to certain dealers or open to all dealers, but they do have to do something when they place the order to activate the option.
  23. I think your dealer was supposed to do something at the time the vehicle was ordered to lock in the incentives and give you the choice of what it was when ordered versus when you take delivery. Check with the dealer.
