Don't wait for a rep - send them a PM. FordService. I agree on the deductible BTW. However - would you have paid the deductible for the gear shifter anyway? If so then it's really a moot point (for you).

Send a PM to FordService - that's why they're here.

ambient lighting problem after sync update
akirby replied to flyers27's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I'm not sure whether it's fixed for everyone else or not - I thought that's what was implied by someone else and it's obvious that you're having unique issues of some kind. So maybe/maybe not. -
I agree you shouldn't have to pay anything for that type of fix. Or at the least you should not have to pay the deductible again if it ends up having to be replaced later.

Just replaced cooling fan assembly, now fans won't shut off
akirby replied to bplemmons's topic in 2008 Edge & MKX
You have to use the forum search bar at the top right. Here it is: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/12731-radiator-fan-assembly-replacement-procedure/?p=137061 -

Someone else just had the same problem and it was the TYC controller. Do a forum search. -
ambient lighting problem after sync update
akirby replied to flyers27's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
That doesn't mean that it doesn't work for others. drpepper is having a unique issue of some kind. -
Not yet (or at least not that I've heard). My guess is it won't show up until the 2016s in December.

They're not hubcaps and it's real chrome on the surface. They just used a plastic substrate which saves weight and won't corrode and pit over time like steel. Ours were 6 years old when we traded our 08 Edge and they looked like new. Downside is they're hard if not impossible to repair.

I think they're epoxied on. You can remove them but you'd probably end up sanding and repainting or polishing what's underneath. That's the downside to these wheels.

Front seat not comfortable for short people
akirby replied to Irontrader's topic in Owner Impressions
The dealership wouldn't be able to adjust it due to liability issues. An aftermarket company might be able to do it or it's possible you could swap out the seat or seat frames for a different model with more adjustments (maybe). Another option would be to simply add a box of some kind under the floor mat. We have a similar issue with our 2014 Escape passenger seat but not quite that bad. -
You guys are right. Ford is run by morons who only engineer things to last 1 day past the factory warranty. F150 ecoboosts are death traps that are falling apart and Ford doesn't care. Ford never updates parts or extends factory warranties on anything. End of discussion.

ambient lighting problem after sync update

I don't remember - have you asked for help from Ford Service here on this one? They often have better contacts than the dealers or regional folks. -
Since you';ve already made up your mind and you won't be swayed by any facts to the contrary, I agree. Let it go. And that website you posted is nothing but clickbait with no meaningful information.

Brakes Squeak While Braking in Reverse Only
akirby replied to VisceralSauce's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
That's a strange one. See if the calipers or pads are loose. You could try doing a few hard stops in reverse. -
Don't you think that high residual values (driven by used car sales) results in cheaper leases thereby giving Ford a pricing advantage versus the competition? Not so much how many used cars are sold but rather the average resale price. Seems legitimate to me.

Try removing and reinserting.

ambient lighting problem after sync update
akirby replied to flyers27's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I think you have a wiring problem or something else that's mimicking an APIM problem. Or they keep using faulty APIMs. Can't believe they're blaming it on the phone. -
Ford clearly and specifically lists the parts that are covered by each warranty including the powertrain warranty. I would assume other mfrs do the same thing. But most people never bother to read it. http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/catalog/owner_guides/07frdwa5e.pdf

Stop with the blue lens/kool-aid drinking/apologist crap. My viewpoint applies to ALL products including electronics, furniture, other vehicle makes, etc. - not just Ford. Nobody is saying there isn't a problem. There is clearly an engineering problem on the early PTUs. It doesn't really matter how many were affected - a defect is a defect and a warranty is a warranty unless it's a safety issue. Some of us feel that while it would be nice if Ford extended the warranty, we understand why they haven't. You feel that it's unacceptable even though every other vehicle mfr (and other mfrs outside the auto industry) does exactly the same thing. That's fine. If you never want to buy a Ford again, that's fine.

Temp change while in Home screen
akirby replied to Vadimus's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
That doesn't sound normal. It should display the temp setting on the bottom of the display regardless of which mode you're in and you should be able to change them. Are you in Auto mode when this happens? Pics or video? -
That's a simplistic view. Of course they care about new car sales, but if 8 yr old models were doing so badly that it caused a lot of negative PR and enough owners were pissed off enough then that would start affecting new car sales. I mean, every mfr does that analysis on any problem - what does it cost us to fix it versus the benefit - or how much will it hurt us if we don't do it? Ford has all the data and they've chosen to extend warranties in the past on certain items like Focus Transmissions, so the only logical conclusion is they don't feel it's a big enough issue to hurt them. Does that suck for people who have problems? Sure. But it's no different than every other auto mfr. I had a Sony LCD TV that died after 4 years with a known problem. They extended the warranty on other models for a similar issue but not mine. What did I do? I bought a Samsung to replace it. I didn't jump up and down and demand that Sony cover it - that's their business choice and I made my choice as a consumer. I wouldn't blame anyone for not buying another Ford if they had such a problem. Just don't think you're more likely to have something like that covered by another mfr.
