  1. I was assuming a dealer fluid swap, not DIY. I think it's only $175 or so which isn't terrible considering the cost of the fluid itself.
  2. Not necessary. Procedure is no different on ecoboost engines.
  3. As Wingnut pointed out - NEVER guess at that type of thing - all the info you need on fluids, filters, capacities, spec, etc. is in the owner's manual.
  4. There is no access door on my daughter's Focus or my Fusion or the wife's Escape - you have to remove the entire shroud. Major PITA, although a driver with a torx bit makes it easier.
  5. Right - which makes it a mechanical device, not an electronic device. As such a physical change to the needle attachment point or the motor/gears/servo will cause it to read incorrectly.
  6. But the speedometer needle itself is mechanical......
  7. Why not use the cooler lines to replace almost all the fluid in one shot? It's not really a "flush" as nothing is added or forced into the transmission externally - it just naturally replaces old fluid with new fluid. The only difference is you get pure new fluid in one shot rather than diluted/mixed fluid with the 3x drain and fill method.
  8. I don't care either way. CR has their own agenda and biases - more than most other media outlets. They slammed Ford for not having enough hard buttons and having to do too much from the touch screen with MFT which they said was dangerous. Then they gave the Tesla Model S a better than perfect score of 103 (out of 100) and it has nothing but a touch screen for all functions.
  9. Just wait - in a few months they'll be ripping it apart. I give no credence to CR whether it's a good or bad review.
  10. Adaptive learning only corrects the shift pressures to maintain the factory performance. It doesn't have anything to do with how you drive.
  11. That's the discount from MSRP. You can always get $2K - $3K off MSRP regardless, so that's an additional $4K or so. Pretty good deal still.
  12. You can order a vehicle but you may only get the incentives in place when the vehicle is delivered. X plan is about $150 over invoice, give or take. But doc fees are limited to $100 and the dealer can't add anything else. You might be able to get a better deal with Costco or other plans, but not by much and you have to take the doc fee into account to be sure.
  13. Yes - 2 pins required. Most plans allow 2 pins per household per year.
  14. The incentives should be automated via Vincent. Maybe they just hadn't run it through Vincent yet.
  15. It is true that your body will adjust/adapt to some seats where they may feel a bit uncomfortable at first but you get used to it. One example is going from really soft seats to firmer seats that offer more support but may feel hard at first but get more comfortable as you go. That doesn't mean the seat changes or that it would solve the problem you noted, but there is a bit of truth to it in certain cases.
  16. Nothing privileged - just multiple reports on numerous web sites from techs and some employees that there is no special break in oil. Also the fact that the owner's manual doesn't mention it and there is no special procedure or warning against changing the factory fill too early, etc.
  17. Yes but he didn't say it would come with a different fob.
  18. I have not heard of any changes to the plan rules. Pins are still good for 12 months. I've bought 6 vehicles on X plan and never had a problem. Then again I've only dealt with 2 sales people/dealers. One for the last 5 vehicles. I just tell him what I want and he finds or orders it and we don't have to even discuss price.
  19. That's why you do your own research and don't listen to the dealer when they say "oh we can add that!"
  20. Dealer added remote start is slightly different than installing it at the factory. It's possible the dealer add option isn't out yet. Or your dealer could be feeding you a line. Just call another dealer and ask if they have the add-on remote start available and that will tell you for sure.
  21. Use whatever the owner's manual says to use (or another oil that meets or exceeds that specification). Typically that's Motorcraft synthetic blend 5W-20 for non-EB engines and 5W-30 for EB engines.
  22. No no no no. They don't use any type of breakin oil. The factory fill is what is specified in the owner's manual.
  23. So if you pay for the repair once and the new part fails within 24 months it should be covered. The part at least. That helps.
