Shouldn't you be mad that the warranty you bought doesn't cover it? I get the frustration that the replacement parts don't seem to be any better. Ford parts used to come with a 12 month warranty - not sure if that's still in place. If not it should be.
-
They could be made by any number of suppliers but they're usually not great quality. They shouldn't blow though. Infinity and JBL and Polk Audio are all good replacement options.
-
There is nothing for Ford to respond to. If a PTU fails under warranty they pay for it. If not you pay for it. Basic warranty 101. Pretty sure the problem is too much heat, so changing the fluid should prevent leaks. The downside is there is no built in drain plug.
-
Strange that some get immediate resolution and some are still waiting. I wonder if the dealer is the difference?
-
That's the anti-theft feature. It thinks somebody tried or did disconnect the battery to disable the alarm. You might have an intermittent battery connection.

But that's an entirely different argument. Pay to fix it and then argue that Ford should cover the cost under an extended warranty - nobody will really disagree with that including me. But to just keep driving it in what you feel is an unsafe condition and complain that Ford is putting your safety at risk because they won't pay for the repair is silly. Same goes for throttle bodies. If you feel it's unsafe then fix it and try to get Ford to pay for it later. BTW - Ford sells extended warranties to cover exactly this type of situation. If you choose not to buy an extended warranty (thereby saving $1500) then why would you expect Ford to cover it for free? It's like buying an Edge but deciding not to pay for the towing package, then going back to the dealer and asking them to install the hitch for free. Ford could easily extend the warranty to cover this and all other sorts of problems - they'd just have to increase the cost of the vehicle accordingly and I'm sure nobody would want to pay for that.
-
Or you could simply replace the latch if it's such a safety concern. No reason to drive around with it like that waiting for Ford to extend the warranty if it's unsafe.

The guy who put it in a Taurus was a Ford employee. He actually did it before sync 3 was released IIRC. Even if you could do it - the cost would be prohibitive.

I know, but 27Sport just confirmed that there are 2 fans per the shop manual which was the original question. -

Heated and Cooled Seats
akirby replied to Wedgeamatic's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
It's a simple engineering/manufacturing issue. It will be fixed. -
Completely understand. I'm waiting on a 2016 for a lot of the same reasons. But I'll probably wait until March or so.
-
Jacksprat - why wait for a 2016? 2015s are available now unless you were waiting on a 2016 only feature. I don't think there are any glaring differences between the 2 - really comes down to personal preference.

Driver floor is SOAKING WET
akirby replied to Blue_Edge15's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
You're stuck with what they have in stock but the dealer can authorize a similar vehicle so you're not stuck with a Corolla or Forte.- 480 replies

They could have simply gotten the wrong card at the factory but that's very unusual. I think you'd have to replace the BCM to actually change the factory code.

Demand a comparable loaner and ask Ford for a buyback. Extended leaking should qualify.- 480 replies

Is there a summer tire option now?

Ford was working on tunes themselves (with a factory warranty) but I haven't heard anything lately.

Heated and Cooled Seats

Most likely although there could be some minor difference due to the seats being different. -

So that's why they didn't have a fix immediately. Makes sense. I wonder why they moved the fans from underneath the seat to inside the seat? -

Same problem. It appears Ford is still working on the permanent fix (for Edge at least). The problem seems to be the exhaust hose comes off inside the seat just like the F150. There are a couple of topics on it already posted. -
Nail in tire....Replace or plug how to reset the TPMS
akirby replied to onyxbfly's topic in Wheels & Tires
BAD idea. There is a reason why reputable shops won't repair those - they're too close to the sidewall. I'd be very careful, especially if you're doing a lot of high speed driving/cornering or towing.
