  1. You mean like Toyota and Honda who also don't offer auto-on headlamps on their base models? When you come in with attitude expect a little in return.
  2. www.syncmyride.com if you're just talking about Sync. If you're talking about My Ford Touch it's the same link but they haven't posted the new software yet.
  3. Or look at it this way - if 2.11 was really 2.1.1 then you'd have no way to specify the eleventh revision of a major release.
  4. Canadian customers are also receiving the DIY kits in the mail so no - it doesn't REQUIRE dealer installation. It's the same as the U.S. version.
  5. Several active threads on the MFT upgrade but basically the dealer should be able to do it for you before you pick it up.
  6. Duly noted. I do hate misinformation - especially when it comes from me!
  7. Umm.....nope. 2.1.1 should come between 2.1 and 2.2. 2.11 should always come after 2.7.
  8. BSquare was created by former microsoft employees - they may have even been recommended by microsoft. I'm sure it seemed like a good idea at the time.
  9. Correct. You'd have to ask BSquare why it wasn't used from day one. Either they didn't know how, they didn't have time or it wasn't in the specs. Given how screwed up everything else was it's not surprising.
  10. That is a common issue that the dealer can fix. Other than that I'm not aware of any others.
  11. The web browser was advertised as late availability when MFT first debuted but never appeared. The hope was that it would be included with the update.
  12. Dude - it's not the 1980s any more. Ecoboost engines don't require any more maintenance than NA engines and they're designed to last 150K miles minimum just like all other engines.
  13. Canadian dealers can do it but I thought DRLs were mandatory in Canada?
  14. I think there is a fuse that controls the rear engagement - might be as simple as a blown fuse.
  15. There is no history for this type of problem and it's fairly obvious it didn't leave the factory that way or it would have been noticed years ago. I would check really well for signs of an accident. Do the control arms look newer? Any overspray? Perhaps it was damaged and repaired privately before being sold or traded in.
  16. Only way that's possible is if the stock setup was somehow defective or you made lots of other mods including exhaust and PCM reflash. By itself a cold air intake will not increase your fuel economy. If it did then auto mfrs would be putting them in from the factory. Even K&N doesn't advertise any mpg gains (although they do hint at them very strongly but with lots of disclaimers).
  17. Same here. I don't think it touched down over here but we were also in the basement. That's as close as I can remember here the last 17 years.
  18. Did you just display the photo or did you set it as wallpaper? This works in my daughter's Focus w/MFT.
  19. You can purchase a Ford ESP at any time within the first 3 years/36K miles. It may be available after that at a higher price. The PTU is similar but not exactly the same as a center diff. It always sends power to the rear diff and the engagement of the rear wheels is done through the rear differential via solenoid and controlled by the PCM. It's not really relevant to the discussion - I just hate misinformation. The other thing to point out here is since it was used you have NO idea how the previous owner treated it. Perhaps they abused it like popular mechanics did with the explorer in a sand dune causing it to overheat. I'm still not seeing a trend that says these PTUs are prone to high rates of failure outside of the well known seal leaks that usually occur within the first 1-3 years. If you have evidence to the contrary then let's see it. Stuff breaks and you can't always hold the mfr accountable after the warranty expires.
  20. Sorry to hear that. But let's get some facts straight. I'm not aware of a problem with PTUs failing and having to be replaced outside of the leaking seal problems. So from that respect it sounds like an isolated incident, not a widespread repeated problem. The PTU is not a center differential. You knew the factory warranty coverage and limitations when you purchased the vehicle and you opted not to buy an extended warranty (available up to 7 yrs/150K km). Really? All those Audi and VW owners who had to pay to replace their faulty control arms after 40K miles might disagree with you. If this was an issue affecting all or most Edges then I'd be more inclined to agree that Ford should step up and cover it. But I haven't seen evidence of that yet. Stuff breaks on all vehicles and if you want warranty coverage then buy it. Otherwise, you're choosing to self-insure and you have to live with the consequences whether you own a Ford, an Audi or a Ferrari.
  21. True if this was a traditional "chip" but as we all know current Fords don't use a "chip" - they have to be reflashed or tuned with a reprogrammer to change shift points, line pressures, etc. Gforce is nothing more than a fancy resistor wired in like with the IAT sensor that fools the engine into thinking the air temp entering the engine is different. It's a scam, period.
