That engine is not flex fuel. Do not use E85.

NO paddle shifters on the 2019 Edge FWD... WHAT??

Are you sure about that? So you're saying it's just as easy to kickstart a 1000cc motorcycle as a 250cc? -

I'm merely telling you that those are your options. If that type of feature is important to you then you can get it. If you don't want to upgrade then go buy something else. That's simply reality and those are the choices Ford has given you at this point. Take it or leave it. As I tried to state above they did this for cost cutting, period. There is no technical reason why the cheaper models can't have paddles. You can bitch and complain about it (which will get you nowhere) or you can accept it and either get one that has it or buy something else. Those are the choices Ford is giving you. There is a chance that you could simply add the paddles if the wiring is there and they would work. We did this on the first ever selectshift Ford vehicle - the 2000 Lincoln LS. Just swapped out the shifter. But that depends on whether they left out other things in addition to the paddles. Somebody give it a shot and let's see. BTW I agree that the paddles should be standard. But they're not so I'm just trying to explain why and get you to understand your limited options. -

If you put it in your signature then it's visible no matter what changes in the software, so that is a better solution. I can only see it when I go to your profile (not within topics) and I'm pretty sure that's the same for anybody. I gave Robert the link to this topic so hopefully he will chime in on that and the dark theme shortly. Nothing I can do about either one. -

It’s just a default setting somewhere - they’re not hidden on purpose. I’ll ask Robert. -
i guarantee they improve aerodynamics and/or help brake cooling.

They cut out the paddles to save money. Only a few people will care. If it’s really important then get the upgraded model or buy something else. It’s a business decision. They’re putting all their funding into new vehicles including edge and Nautilus replacements and midsized BEVs. Same reason they cut out the 3.5L and they’re offering the same engines on both the edge and Nautilus. Until something like that affects profits ( not just sales ) they won’t change it. Good news is so far they don’t appear to be doing a lot of cost cutting on the new models going forward. -
Unless you know exactly why they're there I wouldn't touch them. They don't put them on unless they're serving a purpose.

It's not going to be declared a safety defect and there is probably nothing Ford will do. If you consider it unsafe you should get a different vehicle. It's unfortunate that Ford did this. Older Fords at least had a Low gear that helped. -

Did you try the other key?

What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?

Seems we've gotten off topic here. If you have a question or problem please start a new topic in the appropriate forum. This topic is to discuss things owners have done to their Edge/MKX. Thank you! -

I've heard a tech say that if you follow the replacement procedure correctly the pans don't leak. But there are a lot of techs out there that don't do it correctly so they continue to leak. -
sounds like it could be the fuel pump, the AWD disconnect or both. In my F150 it’s definitely the fuel pump since it’s RWD and it only happens when you open the driver door.

Try the Mandarin Chicken but substitute pineapple for broccoli (unless you like broccoli - can't stand it). My expert advice is free and worth every penny!
-
Cool! We're between Canton and Waleska. We go to Jasper for Chinese food (Peking Garden).
-
Which part of North GA?
-
I meant that other vehicles don’t necessarily prime the pump before you start it so you wouldn’t have heard it without the engine running.
-
Ecoboost engines require higher fuel pressure because of direct injection. Plus you don’t normally hear the fuel pump while the engine is off.
-
Its the fuel pump priming. Most newer Ford’s do it now including my F150.
-
I do too but only in a RWD platform where they don’t have to limit torque.
-
The details are still a bit murky but that's not what I'm hearing from insiders.
-
For #1 I would go with a good used engine. That will net you the most cash. Used in good condition is around $10K minus the used engine cost. Scrap would probably be $1K-$2K at most.

And if that's a Dorman part throw it away or return it and get a Motorcraft replacement unit. Many a Dorman has been DOA.
-
That's because the fan and module come together and should be replaced together.
