  1. I have a controller that is starting to fail on my Audi...if you look around some units seem to be pretty problematic and there are a bunch of places that will rebuild them for substantially less than a new controller. You just have to find one that covers your unit. I think the new Bosch controller for the Audi is ~ $500, a repaired unit is under $100. I think one of the companies I found does multiple manufacturers...if so I will post a link for your reference.
  2. I thought that the last release was the rewrite that was why the update took so long and why they incremented from 2.x to 3.x? Personally I think it is all a bunch of excuses. I have been involved in far more complex projects that had complete software in half the time it takes them to make an update. All of this while having a complete validation package proving functionality.
  3. Agree with all of the above. When you talk to Ford you may want to ask for a regional manager. They seem to have the power to actually make things happen. If you are in the north east l pm me and I will give you the contact info I have.
  4. The rewrite is already out. It is the version without outside temp on the main screen. I think what Akirby may be refferring to is the next generation mft that hopefully will match hardware capabilities of current gen smartphones. The current system is horribly underpowered.
  5. By the way what size and what tire did you end up mounting.
  6. very good deal indeed and they look great. I need to get another set for the wife to put dedicated snows on but haven't found anything local. Shipping kills the other deals I have found here and elsewhere. Maybe I'll get lucky like you in time.
  7. This is why I think I will wait and see what everyone thinks. Would like to get temp back but not worth dealing with headaches. Last winter the system left us without heat several times. so far 3.02 hasn't given us any HVAC issues. Since this update took 6 months to come out I don't want to chance the winter months just yet.
  8. So far 3.02 has been much better. It started off a little shaky with a few glitches int eh first few days then was pretty solid. But recently has started to act up again doing strange things far more often. No voice commands, changing audio sources, phones intermittently connecting, staying on after key and door opened. Most of the times it seems to recover faster than previous version but still needs some stability improvements. Would love to get more functionality but I can live without that if this thing just does the simple stuff well and is stable.
  9. We are starting to have more issues again with our system but I think I might hold off and see what the consensus is on this update. The 2.11 update was a complete mess for us so I am a bit hesitant, but thanks for the link. I will download it and keep it handy just in case it get to the point of no return anyway.
  10. All the homelink devices i have seen are stand alone and only require power. Some have even canabalized old models and retrofitted their vehicle. The only thing to watch out for is often the older units won't support rolling codes
  11. Good so the new software is released. Will have to try downloading from SMR
  12. Ours is dark so I don't notice but maybe check the coverage of weathertech or husky all season liners
  13. Maybe a bad switch? I would have the dealer check it to make sure a connection isn't loose.
  14. A few here have wrapped the grill or plasti dipped them, or your other option is to buy the primed version direct from Ford.
  15. You will be glad you got it done...super useful. I didn't realize how much we would use it till we had it. All summer it gets use to try to cool the cabin down so the car seat isn't so hot for the little man. Also not sure if yours works the same but you don't have to restart to drive off. Originally we thought we had to so I would quickly bump the shift release to get it to shut down so I could turn the key...but one day my wife forgot and just turned the key. It stays on and you can shift to any gear and take off. Super nice.
  16. I don't have memory seats but as far as I know the two systems are independent. When you say you did a master reset did you do the reset through the MFT or did you pull the battery cables? If you pulled the battery cables it would explain the loss of presets but don't know why you wouldn't be able to reprogram them afterwards.

  18. I think someone posted instructions here once before and IIRC you had to splice into the wiring harness.
  19. Not sure but maybe you have the shock sensor and it is set too sensitive. On my last ride out of the factory it was way too sensitive, had to have the dealer adjust it. Maybe as you are sitting there your body motions are enough to set it off. You mention it honks first...often shock sensors do this as a warning prior to full alarm.
  20. Is there a reason you want to go with cross drilled or slotted? I had them on my previous ride and they were fine but didn't perform and better as a daily driver. Plus when I started to upgrade my bushings you could feel the slots when braking. I suspect you are isolated enough on the Edge but something to consider. If you really want to improve braking performance your better off spending that rotor money on quality pads. Also I think I read some here had success with changing their brake booster on older Edges to give a better feel.
  21. Like I mentioned above it may be a regional thing. Doubt you see much snow and salt spread on your roads. Up here they use so much everything gets badly corroded. Actually since my last post in this thread the Audi A4's cable seized again. I can engage it but can't reliably release it. Not going to bother getting it fixed again since the car is on its way out anyway. Just have to pick the right parking spots.
  22. Well just got back from a vacation to the OBX and the AWD 3.5 got around 21 mpg on the way down. I was a bit dissapointed since last summers trip when we had less than 5k on the engine was a little better (think we got 23) and our average speed was much higher (750 miles in about 10 hrs vs 450 miles in 8.5). We were actually carrying a lot more last year since we had another adult and their luggage. On the way back we were averaging around 24.5mpg the first half with top speeds around 60. But by the time we got home the average dropped a point to 23.5 with some 75-80 mph sections. Overall not horrible but still a bit dissapointed as all previous vehicles would have exceeded the rated mpg with the same driving style.
