I have a similar situation but a little different. mine use to connect almost instantly before too but now it just seems to hang for a while. 80 percent of the time it will actually connect but every now and then I'll have to manually connected but I don't get that message of previously connected like you do. did you have any problems with the install mine hung I'm wondering if maybe we both have a corrupted file

Rear view camera guidelines are missing
wlepse replied to ciggy's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Mine was disabled after the update and even after resetting them they are still not always functional. Seems like i should have stayed on 3.02. -
Looks interesting. Based on the way it says it operates I think they may be using the Lockpick device to over ride the video in motion and are likely using a device that outputs via composite video/audio into the console jacks. Seems interesting though...would like to see more details on all the parts. OEM Nav sucks.

I don't have either one but can't pull the trigger on either one even though I so desperately want one. For me the Nav-TV was out since I do not want to splice wires. I contacted them about making a plug and play version but it died. But based on the research I did they do have much better after sales support that Coastal. As for the Lockpick...I decided against it because I was hoping they would add additional video inputs, not just cameras. Was also hoping for Apple support like their other products but the deal killer for me was that this system times out. I really wanted the system to stay active even with power cycles but apparently once you do the button presses you have X minutes of unlocked screens then it resumes normal operation. Just seemed too restrictive compared to other solutions I have seen where once it is selected it stays active until you decide to shut it off. If it weren't for these restrictions I would have one in my Edge right now.

Sirius Window Sticker

Mine was removed when the tint was put on. comes off easy. -
Don't get to drive it much but I think two presses of the center button also disconnects the call.

Interesting idea. Not sure if it would fit but you may want to check ebay I know others here have purchased different colored ones and they were compatible with other models. Maybe you can use that as a cross reference.

2013 Remote starter
wlepse replied to blockisle9's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Which version do you have? on ours (bidirectional) I just press thestart button twice. If the doors weren't locked they do that automatically. -
Damn it spoke to soon. The Sirius presets did not stay. Only one preset is actually right, it just so happened that was the one I tested. guessing that the glitch in the install caused this, now I have to try to remember which ones they were.

I have gotten a few of these and they work well. They have a magnet and a hook so you can get them mounted under the hood pretty easy. http://www.harborfreight.com/27-led-portable-worklight-flashlight-67227.html

Forgot to mention...all radio presets stayed but audio settings rear cam settings and I am sure others changed. Just haven't had the time to dig through the menus after a two hour install. I also had to re pair the phones but didn't check if the usb drive was functioning or if it had to rebuild command list. I really wish they would give you the ability to export these settings so they can be reloaded after install.

Thanks. I think it has stabilized but two hours for an install is crazy. Just a very frustrating experience. When it was in that loop of not acknowledging the flash drive I was worried that I would have to take it in today since nothing worked. Kind of reminded me of the first I rooted a device and thought I bricked it.

Oh man, what an experience this MFT has become and not a good one. The ast few weeks the system has started to lag real bad, voice cammands stopped working, touch input was pathetic, random audio source changes, nav is extra miserable then today it just locked up completely. Tried the reboot boot app a few times and finally got the system somewhat stable but still had a bad lag. SO while I had wanted to wait on the update I figured it couldn't get much worse. So I started the update and about 15 minutes in I see a screen saying the USB drive has been removed or can't be detected. Tried unplugging and replugging but nothing worked. It was being read because the LED would flash but always got the same error. I tried to use the reboot app but that didn't work. Tried pulling the fuse and that failed. Eventually I went in to get something to eat and figured I would try one more time. This time the install seemed to restart on its own and did seem to finish. SMR confirms the install but I am highly suspect everything is as it should be so I have a feeling I will be going to the dealer to have them wipe and resinstall just to be safe.

Don't have an apple but also found the system to be more of a gimmick than anything else. Much easier and safer to use an app to read your messages and allow you to speeak your response with minimal input. I would rather have seen MFT support something like Vlingo so the screen could display the buttons bigger but their In Car mode works well enough.

Sorry to hear you are having such and issue but changing the throttle body isn't that big a job. Also on the plus side it seems this is the actual fix for what several hear have complained about with the vehicle stalling or losing power. Some of those people got the run around and had to make several visits to get it fixed correctly. So while I don't discount this stinks at least it should be fixed and the work they have to do is extremely unlikely to cause any other issues in the process. Chances of getting a new vehicle are just about 0 but if you are having so many issues early on I would suggest you make sure everything is documented and contact Ford. They might be able to help you out. I have heard of them offering extended warranties like they did for MFT owners.

I thought about it too but wasn't sure if I wanted to cut down on the light transmission or just the heat. There are a few films out there that will do a minimal decrease in visible light but cut most of the heat. I was thinking about this route since the extra light is nice especially in the spring when things are just starting to warm up. Kind of puts me in a better mood.

Like I mentioned before the text messaging is way over rated. I prefer to use the voice recognition on the phone and have it read the messages and take whatever message I want to respond with. So much easier to use than what Ford implemented. I actually think what they set up is more of a distraction than anything else.

MFT report your successful installations or problems
wlepse replied to exodus's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
While I do agree it isn't unusual to say you need to reboot your phone on occasion the reasoning is BS. As far as I know there is nothing that can degrade the signal but sometimes resources can be an issue. Just like any OS a fresh boot can do wonders. Also some phones have this built in...my wifes phone had a notification saying a reboot was recommended since it had been x days since last reboot. -
Couldn't be further from the truth. The system is actually fairly well laid out and intuitive enough that most anyone should be able to set up 90% of functionality in minutes; it is just full of bugs. But as Blankster mentions if you have worked with windows much you should be familiar with its quirks and its ability to just s the bed every now and then. Since this is based on a MS platform it is no different. Many times it works well and others times it will bog down and "Perform Scheduled Maintenance" which is really its cover for a reboot. Sometimes this reboot sets things straight other times it will just continue to loop in this state for a while. Problem is you have no diagnostic mode like traditional windows. So if it starts this reboot cycle you can't go into a safe mode and try to figure out what is happening and correct the issue or even just have access to core controls. Now if this system were entertainment only I wouldn't care so much since I can live without the radio, but last winter we had several days of no HVAC control...and by no control I mean no heat either. Again 3.02 was a vast improvement for me in stability but after 6 months issues are cropping up more frequently. Sometimes we can go days without a glitch then have days where nothing works.

Congrats on the baby. We have found the Edge to be a very competent family hauler though it isn't without it quirks (like all vehicles). But with that said the AWD systems have been problematic in the past and even some 2011+ models have been plagued by bad seals. So if you don't need AWD I would skip it. But the biggest detractor for this vehicle is the MFT. While they have minimized the bleeding with Ver 3.02 it is still far from perfect. They have released 3.22 but I am holding off since I had a horrible update experience before. So again if you don't need all the bells and whistles you could consider an SE. If you do go with a loaded model other issues that crop up here and there are with the sunroof rails and motor and the rear cross path detection system giving errors. Can't really comment on the competition since I don't have one but the other vehicle we really considered was the Audi Q5. We looked at a few others but they just didn't seem to be a complete enough package for what the wife wanted.

Same boat here...waiting for more positive feedback. Just find it so strange that some say they had to re-pair the phones and others did not. Most have said the saved data like radio presets and nav favorites stayed but I thought I read at least one report of someone losing that. Wonder what is causing all this variability in installs? Seems like you have a wide range of install times and outcomes. I guess with that said maybe it doesn't matter what other people have experienced since you could just be an unlucky one.

Does yours work as I describe above or is something wrong with mine?

Honestly I don't think you guys are missing much. My phone "works" with the MFT text feature. It was cool testing it out in the parking lot but real world it was pretty much useless. First when it reads back you message it doesn't lower audio volume like nav commands. Then it reads it so fast that you end up missing a word or two since the text to speech engine is not the best. Then if you want to reply it doesn't stay up on your cluster with that option....you have to remember the convoluted voice commands to get it to send a canned text message back. I have had much better results with apps that will read the messages back and send messages based on voice input so I don't have to send a canned response. It is a nice idea just the execution of it isn't all that user friendly.
