Sound Deadening Glass
omar302 replied to CinnamonEdge's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
From the Edge Source Book: • Thick windshield with acoustic-laminate is standard on all Edge models. • Acoustic front side glass standard on Limited and Sport models. -
We see 120F on a usual basis in Summer!! Believe me, it is sometime so hot, that some people, especially those who have to work outdoors, wear long sleeves & cover their faces because of the hot air.

Dead Sync SYNC - Black Screen of Death ...
omar302 replied to Kwmck's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Nicole, The APIM has an extended warranty, 5 years total from original purchase date regardless of mileage. So if the APIM needs replacement, it should be done without any charges. As for the battery, if you think the old one was still ok, put it back & try to return/sell the new one. Good luck. -
I don't think we heard about letters for the Throttle body yet, can you please provide more details about the content or program number?

2011 replacement fob programming
omar302 replied to revo1059's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
OP said he lost a key, the procedure in the owner's manual works only if he had both keys on hand. So since you only have 1 operational key/Fob, you will have to do it at a dealer or a locksmith who has the correct equipment. Suggestion: Ask the dealer/Locksmith to delete the lost key, so that it won't work unless reprogrammed again, this is to ensure unauthorized entry by anyone who might find the key. -
I remember it is white Lithium grease, but I don't remember where I got that info.

Disconnect your car's battery to reset the electronics? And/or try to reset the settings to default/factory settings.

2013 MKX mirror size vs 2011?
omar302 replied to HCFX2011's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
HCFX2011, It is strange. Especially that the mirror only has an indicator led! The actual BLIS sensor is in the rear (side of bumper I think). Just a few thaughts that might be worth trying. Did the 2011 MKX work with 2013 mirror without errors? If you simply disconnected your mirror's wiring, do you still get the warning? Are all other systems in the mirror working (power, memory, autodim)? I'd probably think it a change in the wire placement that caused your error message, what I mean is although the socket plugged in fine, the individual wires are connected in a different order & causing the error message. -
If you have the latest update, V3.6.2 (not sure if it was also in V3.5.1), go Settings >Display and select "Off" for mode. The display will turn off. To turn it back on, just touch the display.

12EdgeSport, When you have to do a sequence other than the factory one, do you see the lights on the vehicle working on every press? Is yes, then the remote is working and it's not a battery issue. May I suggest that you disconnect the car's battery for ~30 minutes? Sometimes forcing a reset to electronics fixes them. Edit: Just for information, the remote stat works consistently as per the factory sequence (press 1xLock then 2xStart), so it is designed & should work correctly.
-
Is the same issue happening with both fobs? Could that one of them has a weak battery. Another thaught, are you sure the vehicles registers the "lock" command? I would suspect that it isn't abd hence the sequence would fail. Try for some time pressing the lock button twice (and hearing the horn chirp to confirm) then press the remote start button twice.

I think the change was made in 2012 with the smaller side view mirrors for all Edges & MKXs. Wish someone could tell us the reasons for these changes and if there were improvements in wind noise.

Storing an Intelligent Key in Vehicle
omar302 replied to JRY's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Linking an IA key is very simple following the instructions in the owners manual. done it several times without any incident. An important note though, you cannot un-link an IA key yourself, it has to be done by a dealer or locksmith with the correct equipment. The maximum number of IA keys that can be linked is 4 only. I made several tests previously & you can remove the battery, the IA key will still work, but only through the backup slot in the center console. Actually it would even be safer to remove the battery because otherwise, pressing the unlock button would disable the Alarm. Check these 2 posts I made earlier: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/14049-spare-key/?do=findComment&comment=108786 http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/14049-spare-key/?do=findComment&comment=108877 -
Should work fine.

Dead Sync SYNC - Black Screen of Death ...
omar302 replied to Kwmck's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Do you have the MyFord Touch (8" touch screen)? if so, the APIM, the module responsible for system including the touch screen, has a 5 year unlimited mileage extended warranty (5 years from vehicle purchase). -
Your within the range, I wouldn't change a thing. The vehicle was designed with a class 2 hitch, so going above that allowed weight might put extra stress on other parts of the chassis, as long as you don't exceed the maximum allowed weight (trailer & tong) then don't sweat it. Remember that when designers state maximum or minimum numbers, there is always a factor of safety included.

In an ideal case, 100% oil life should be good for 10k miles or 1 year. So as a rough estimate, 19% can get you (ideally) 1900 miles or a little more than 2 months.
