  1. Can't help you on the rafdiator swap or tranny cooling, but there is a difference in the electrical connections because the non tow package has a single 60A relay for both fans while tow package equipped vehicles have 2 40A relays, 1 for each fan.
  2. This is from an Explorer forum, but I believe the same can be installed on the Edge: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3262140#post3262140 In my opinion, the shark fin antenna would not look right at the front of the roof, unlike the Explorer that has it its antenna at the back. An alternative can be a stubby antenna. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/2292-stubby-antenna-install/
  3. The 2011+ Edge (and many other models) have what Ford calls "Smart Charging", the alternator output varies by design. See attachment for description. 2011 Ford Edge Sourcebook_Page8_Smart Charging.pdf
  4. Congrats on the new ride. Hope you enjoy a trouble free ownership.
  5. Thanks for the offer, I know that my vehicle is affected, the screenshot is for my VIN, I just erased it. Was wondering if there are any further details to the recall.
  6. The rear thump/bump was covered by a TSB for vehicle built before 4/15/2011. This thread. TSB 11-12-10.pdf
  7. Since the Mazda CX-9 shares the same platform & many components as the Edge/MKX, check out the latest news: http://www.autoblog.com/2014/02/17/mazda-cx-9-braking-nhtsa-probe/ Sound familiar??
  8. Today I found this under Outstanding Field Service Actions in Ford's Etis website: "13E04 - PCM CONFIGURATION ERROR", googling it I came up with the same number for a 2011 Explorer's Carfax report as a Manufacturer Emissions recall issued on 02/14/14. Can the ever so helpful members here get more details, thanks in advance, again.
  9. The 2011 Owner's Manual will refer you to the MyFord Touch supplement for the entertainment system. Anyway, it simply states to use them as you would normally do in Media mode! not very helpful. It is strange that when you press the tune + or - it will change presets only and not actually change frequency. Perhaps someone with a Ford Edge Limited can chime in & tell you if that's normal. Also, is you MyFord Touch updated? are on the latest version, 3.6.2?
  10. Yes you can. Since you have a Limited, I guess you also have the Sony system; you have 3 ways: Through the Tune+/Tune- buttons on the wheel/knob in the center of the console. The buttons are at the top & bottom of the wheel. On the center touch screen, in the Audio screen, when in radio mode, press the "Direct Tune" button on the right, this will enable you to directly input the frequency. Using voice commands, just say the frequency number.
  11. Attached is the PDF, TSB 11-2-3 is supposed to be for vehicles built between 7/12/2010 and 12/22/2010 & for the left hand side only. Attached is a scanned copy. TSB 11-2-3_scan.pdf
  12. If the FOB your referring to the original remote keyless entry fob, as ls973800 stated. You can also check the vehicles owner's manual & try to program the remote again. If it is the remote start FOB, I found this Programming Instruction manual that you can try.
  13. I believe the correct idle speed is 600 RPM the regular Edge & 640 RPM for the Edge with towing package. Since your in KSA, I think all Edges are equipped with the bigger radiator & cooling fans, so the idle should be 640. 1000 is wrong, take it to the dealer to have them check it out. Edit: Upon cold startup, the RPM might go higher for a few seconds, but afterwards it should go down to 600 or 640 RPM.
  14. OK, 1 more test. I removed the battery from the IA key, so the unlock button did not work & the Alarm could not be disabled using it. Having the IA key (without battery) in the backup slot will still enable you to start the engine but only if you unlocked the car using the keypad or another IA key. So for those who really want to keep an IA key in the car at all times, this might be a safer way than keeping a fully functional IA key that can disable the alarm.
  15. Is it a Ford accessory? How does the fob look like? Is it a new key with an extra button? or an additional fob with a single button? If it is a Ford accessory, their should be a new setting in the instrument cluster settings were you can select the options for climate control that are described in the Owners Manual. After installing the remote start, the dealer would enable the additional settings. There are 3 types offered by Ford, you can check them here: http://accessories.ford.com/vehicles/edge/2012/electronics/remote-start.html
  16. From the FAQ in the below link, the ESP purchaser needs to transfer the remainder of the ESP to the new owner for a fee. So it is a normal procedure. http://www.troy-ford-extended-warranty.com/Ford-Extended-Warranty-Questions-s/2581.htm
  17. Maintenance should nearly (if not exactly) equal, except for replacement tires. But note that the Limited has more options not available on the Sport like HID headlights (not sure what else).
  18. Suspension stiffness feel is different from one person to another, what was your previous ride? Newer cars are generally stiffer than old cars due to design & age. Also, what wheel size you got? Bigger wheels will have a stiffer ride. And make sure the air pressure in them is not too high.
  19. As per the 2014 order guide, only color changes. Even without any changes, 1000-1500 USD is something I would gladly pay to get a 2014 over a 2013 if all other things are equal. You can download a copy of the order guide from here: http://www.fordinsidenews.com/forums/showthread.php?9291-OrderGuides-F-L-2014my&p=116546&viewfull=1#post116546

    Gas Gauge question

Is that +/-, or always or more? The reason I ask is that I always end up putting around 0.5 gallon more than the indicated consumed fuel.
  21. Well, for only 1000-1500 differences, I'd definitely would go for a 2014.
  22. Did you figure out how much exactly you'd have to pay extra for a 2014?
  23. Ok, I did some testing today. Sitting inside the MKX, leaving the driver's window open & locking it using the keypad, while the IA key/fob is with me inside: Pressing the brake pedal & pushing the start button; engine does not start, get a "no key found" message. Opening the door (with unlocking it using the fob or keypad); get a message to start car or alarm will go off. Pressing the brake & start button, nothing, alarm will still go off. All ok, BUT, pressing the unlock on the IA key/fob, the same one that is inside the car that will not start the engine, will unlock the door & then I can start the engine. Also, opening the door & setting the alarm (car starts honking), pressing the unlock button will unlock the door & disable the alarm. Engine can start. So, as I guessed earlier, if an intruder finds your IA key hidden inside the car, he can disable the alarm & takeoff with car. But if the IA key is hidden, the alarm will not be disabled, & the engine cannot be started. So, for those who keep their IA key inside, make sure it is well hidden.
  24. Your only problem would be if the intruder finds the hidden IA key & presses the unlock button. The car would then disable the Alarm & will start by pressing the start button (while holding the brakes).
