  1. Personnally I do not authorize mechs to tear into a motor if they do not tell me the issues/codes and other information. If you have to tear into a motor to look that it this amounts to wasted hours and money. There are plenty of ways to determine if the engine is viable or not. Oil analysis is only 25 bucks and tells a lot. scopes can look into the engine at many points. I have determined that if I feel the engine has failed I would just order a used one for 800 bucks and pay the 1500-2000 dollars to have it installed. Cheaper than paying dealer to tear down then rebuild a motor. Check this out: http://www.automotix.net/usedengines/2008-ford-edge-inventory.html?fit_notes=c1dcfa0ae7f55c00566749ed43030a28&seq_num=3
  2. Thank you. The videos do add to the time to do the job, but folks need to not be scared to do the work to save some money. The LCA turned out to be a mama bear and by all descriptions a worse case with the exception of the front horizontal bolt breaking I do not think it could get much worse. That front bolt is so large that I could not imagine it breaking and it is not rusting for some reason.
  3. Hey yours isn't rusty is it? give me your address. When did you say you were going on vaction? LOL
  4. This and I still have to wait another 9 months for Christmas. How am I possibly going to endure the long wait? OH never mind I was in the military I know how to wait.
  5. Thanks for clarificaton that is what I meant to say. Even fueling with it bleeding openly is a possibility of a fire hazard, but if the fuel went in even for a about 4 gallons without shutting off that would answer a question as to what the problem is. Over all a smoke machine and diagnostic is the overall better choice along with some electrical knowledge.
  6. Akirby when I installed the K&N filter and the fishing line with the tin foil strips inside the air intake tubing I bet I gained at least 20 percent of one eigth of one mile in fuel saving and at least 6 percent of 100th of .5 hp, but hey I am happy with it and only bought one filter and on recharge kit number two. Just to make you feel better I am going to install that dry filter you like so much.
  7. Try disconnecting the canister then refueling if all goes well you may have your answer.
  8. Again. Ford Just put something out to inform your customers. Last communication was October 2014. Ford needs a better PR firm. The current one is no good.
  9. Rotors are not part of the drive system. If stuck apply hammers from small to medium to large to No Mercy. It will come off.
  10. Your tank is not venting so you have a closed loop somewhere. If it were open you would still be able to fill the tank without stopping after half a gallon. My fuel cap light is on and I have no pressure (i.e. vacumm or back pressure) so whatever the problem is I will let it go as the tank is venting in an open manner. Really just waiting for the new fuel tank to be installed before messing with it.
  11. You folks make me feel like I am doing something wrong. I just put oil in it. Change the transmission and keep driving. Power steering fluid was changed out. Leaking hose so after 5 bottles got it fixed and the fluid was already changed. Brake fluid may be changed a bit, just got to get me a Turkey baster since the wife won't give up hers in the kitchen LOL
  12. I am sure you will be fine. My wifes Edge is a 2011 and it has 89K on it. No isssues so far. Ford by the way is not the only company that puts a water pump inside the engine like this. I had a Suzuki that had the water pump fail and the Mechs had to disassemble the engine to get to it.
  13. Every thing is original except for the wear items like , plugs, belts. Same air filter K&N, replaced one O2 sensor and a power steering hose.
  14. Feeling lucky my Edge spent the first two years of it's life in Texas. I do check it regularly though as it is rusty. If it did start rusting. I would say now lets get a vehicle that I can fit a all this stuff I have in this edge into and back it up to it to see if it fits. I carry of all things a projector screen, tool and equipment along with many safety demonstration devices then three containers of files etc. back seat is full and the back completely full.
  15. Is there a selenoid near the tank? Or the canister it's self is clogged. The only true way I have learned is to do the smoke test and determine what is and is not working. Sounds from you description that you have a closed issue rather than an open issue. Try your system with smoke to see if the the canister is the problem. You may also see signs like high pressure vapor release if the system is not allowing the vapors to feed through the canister. Thus back pressure and not allowing you to fill the tank. OHH check your lines to be sure they are clear and open. There have been many documented cases of those mud dobbers (wasps) making nests in the tubes and causing them to close off. I would shoot for this as it is nothing more than simple cleaning just your time.
  16. You had not even broken in the 2008 before you traded it.
  17. You changing to the larger rotors for a reason or just to see if they will work?
  18. Being I go to Panama on regular visits to family I can say that the Ford ranger would be right at home in countries like this and will most likely be sold in Panama. The vehicle of choice in these areas are the toyota hilux etc and this Ford Ranger would fit right in especially with the quad cab. Maybe this is why they play these markets with the ranger. I do know I do not see many full sized pickup in Panama and if there are they are using them to haul like dump trucks.
  19. You think the introduction would decrease sales of the F150? or sales would not be strong enough against the other foreign competitors?
  20. No Ecoboost but the 3.5 duratec is a pretty tough engine. At 274,000 miles on my 2008 Orange Crush.
  21. Just curious as to why everywhere in the world you can buy this truck except the United States. Makes absolutely no sense.
  22. Yep Vermont. Largest populated city is only 40k people. They still don't like the video. Go figure. Anyway 27 countries and 49 states, except for Vermont!! have viewed it. Hoping it helps someone else as I find these types of videos helpful to me.
  23. I think she is secretly or rather hinting that once I get tired of the Orange Crush that as she mentioned I would then take the 2011 and she would get a new Ford Edge as in off the lot new. I am going to have to keep an eye on her to make sure she ain't outside sabotaging my Orange Crush. LOL
  24. I have personally never waxed my 2008 Edge. The most it has ever seen is a car wash. Although the body shop did buff and wax it after the repairs from hitting the deer. No body rust noted as of yet.
