Am I the only one on this forum that is hoping my fuel tank springs a leak?
-
You interested in lending it to me, I could help you out with those low miles. LOL
-
To the Canadian that disliked my video because apparently I did not get explicit enough on the location of the PCV. You may just want to take it to a mechanic to have it replaced. I can not help you.

18 Gallon fuel tank but I just put in over 20 gallons
macbwt replied to AZDiddy's topic in EcoBoost Mod & Tech
I stopped looking at the price and just fuel up. Does not matter anymore. Need the gas to get to the next location. Funny sometimes I go into the station to get the receipt because they run out of paper or in Iowa the thing is frozen. The clerk asks me how much and I always say. I did not look at the price it is on pump # whatever. All I know is each month it runs between 600 -1000 dollars -
Drip under engine bay - 2007 Ford Edge SEL Plus

Looks like power steering. Pricy little hose. My repair cost me under 300 at a dealer. I was on the road so I had to have it repaired at a dealership. -

I fill up every day. If i filled up at half a tank I would be filling up twice a day. Ain't nobody got time for that. -

If #5 was misfiring you would know it. As far as issues with transmission. I have not had shifting issues. I had a hard shift the other day, but it amounted braking and gasing very quickly so the tranny really did not know what i wanted to do.

Hang on to your receipts this ride is not over.

What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?

Friday I was approaching a stop light to turn right and was hitting the brakes and just as I was slowing down almost to a stop the light changed and I hit the gas. The tranny bucked pretty hard at this sudden slowing and then gasing/acceleration. I guess I caught it about to down shift then hit the gas and told it to down shift more to accelerate and she bucked hard trying to find the right gear. I am guessing I did not allow enough time to shift properly and this is the reason.

I would be willing to bet your rim/bead seating is not good. I had this problem with a set of tires and it haunted me and the tire installer for a while until they clean the living h**l out of the bead and rim then applied a sealant to the rims. After that no problems. Thanks, but I did not get to this point on the Orange Crush without performing maintenance. How far no one knows? Maybe about September the pinned topic will state what to expect at 300,000 miles?

18 Gallon fuel tank but I just put in over 20 gallons

I have on many occasions put nearly or just a bit over 21 gallons of gas in my tank and have the receipts to prove it. I have asked this question many times with no answer as to why? Ford must of misspelled the amount the tank holds and I have no lights to indicated codes nor do I have codes with the short exception of a gas cap light that has displayed but is off now. I know in Iowa the pumps are certified and tested to display correct measurements and the amount of Octane dispensed so the only point is Ford is not stating capacity correctly. Keep in mind going really low on fuel can damage the fuel pump. Sometimes I forget or a fuel station is not too close so I have to push it. I will also note I have never ran out of gas. So when I put fuel in the tank in at or over 20 gallons there is still fuel in the tank. ?????? -
For 25 buck you can have an oil analysis done on your engine. This will tell you specifically if you have an engine issue. It may be worth the money to know or know that there is not an issue. Go look at the video in the topic 3.5 duratec engine oil analysis and see an actual report on a 3.5 duratec with 268,000 miles.

The TPMS is banded around the inside of the rim and positioned in the same location as the valve stem but are about two to three inches from each other. The valve stem and TPMS do not even come in contact with each other. Your probable air loss is one of several or combination of several problems. 1) Valve stem (replace each time you mount/remount tires) 2) bead of tire and rim is not sealing (clean the rim and wash the bead of the tire before mounting 3) rim may actually have a small hairline fracture (happens but not very often especially to two tires) Your most probable issue is the rim being dirty and not seating. There are products that can be applied to the rim to help seal the bead better so try that. Do not put slime in your tire unless you really want to buy and new TPMS sensor!!!!

Check them out on Amazon. There are multiple types and have photos of the product. Do a close up of the product view. I did and compared the dorman to the spectra and the spectra was a far more finished product and it weighs 2lbs more which means the materials involved/motors and plastics are heavier. Not that weight means the product is bad but doing a close up of the parts will tell you the doorman appears to be shoddy quality and is shoddy. Besides this is the cooling of the engine. Spend a bit more and buy the better part. I would. Another way is to research where Ford obtains their parts and a lot of times the same manufacturer sells the parts under a different name as aftermarket. Sort of like Delphi parts compared to AC/DELCO on GM and Chevy. pay attention to the motor covers and wiring connectors and harnesses on the fans this will also tell you a lot on quality. Personally I looked and I would be more prone to go either spectra (just because of my miles) or the ford replacement. Depending of course on you funding

HP drives the torque. I had a grandam that had a whopping 90 hp in a 2.5 liter 4 cyl. This car had some outstanding git up and go from one stop light to another. Highway speed passing at 60 mph or higher it was a dog. It needed more HP to provide the torque plain and simple.

I think you will find opinions on Dorman parts are that dorman are junk. The rule is buy two dorman parts.

Move along now folks nothing to see here. This Orange Crush is running just fine with no problems. What a relaxing week. I finally fixed the rattle sound in the back. Taped two pieces of double sided foam weather resistance foam tape together then placed a piece of packing foam cut to width and lenght on top of the sticky tape. Now my portable projector screen no longer rattles in the back of the car while I am driving. It has been rattling like that for years. I just finally got tired of it. I guess since there was nothing to fix on the Orange Crush I figured I needed to fix something.

You could always get an oil analysis done on a sample of oil and they could tell you if you have coolant in your oil.
-
Engine is not really idling if you are doing 50-60mph. You have a whole lot of parts moving at that point so it could be anything.
-
Putting on another 300 miles today and was thinking wow the Orange Crush is running pretty smooth. Has been since I replaced the LCA, changed tires and alignment. No issues and moving along well. Does not hurt with the weather being nice.
-
Not a racer but I believe HP makes a difference in the top end later. Torque for most of us is needed at the start. more torque at the low end makes it seem faster and is, but HP rules overall at highend speeds.

Ya don't think Ford Service would have an extra reconditioned rack and pinion hanging out that they would say trade for a rather used one?

I usually do whatever makes me feel better when it comes to maintenance. If you can wash it out of you head then carry on. I do it very often with intent to monitor and then take action if it does not feel right or issues develop that demand attention.
