  1. Turkey basters. The mother of all inventions and so many uses!!
  2. The rear should be a lot easier to replace than the fronts. For some reason my right front seems to go through wheel bearings, but one that was replaced failed due to defect and had to be replaced after only 30k miles. Just a note the Right Rear was the first wheel bearing to fail on my 2008. I measure wheel bearing failure by how high I have to turn up the volume on the radio. LOL
  3. Ball Joint. How many miles on it. Verify the inner and outer tie rods are good also. Any moderately good mechanic should be able to tell you what the issue is by lifting the vehicle and moving things around. I am betting ball joint if the tie rods are in working order. If so you can get a Moog lower Control arm/w new ball joint for 75 dollars on Amazon. This might help you see some issues I have already dealt with.
  4. Might be your rear output sensor by your description. I paid almost 800 to have it done but if you are any good at DIY you can do it yourself from information I have received. I bet it is the sensor. Hard clunk into gear then you push the gas and all it does if rev up a bit then slowly start to move.. Did I describe your issue? If so the sensor is most likely your culprit.
  5. I change mine about every 90K, but my miles are all highway.
  6. My wife read your reply below and asked me if that would really work? LOL I think she is getting tired of me working on my 2008 Ford Edge.
  7. I have it in my 2008 Ford Edge. Only thing is it is a light on the dash and that is all I get. Tried the automatic air feature the other day to put in air in a low tire and she told me get out and do it yourself.
  8. I will soon one or two have about 90k or more on them so I am sure the time is near. I have some noise on my right front that once I change the snow tires and mount the summer tires I should have an idea if the bearing is going bad. The snow tires sort of make a lot more noise and are harder to tell if a bearing is going. WWW will most likely have the removal and install instructions on this page very soon once he reads this post.
  9. I have changed six, but never had the idea to video the process. Give me time and I will have one I am sure. Then again you could be first if you want to do it.
  10. More planning and gathering for the left side. Getting all new bolts/fasteners/nuts etc gathered up and ordered new LCA. The next video will show removing those parts and replacing with new parts as a lesson learned and why. Had I done this previously I would most likely never have had to cut the LCA off of the frame of the Edge. My inspection of the CV boots as a note did show cracking in the rubber boots from exposure to the environment. I can only assume once the boot cracks open and the extended number of miles the CV has on it that it will disintegrate at an accelerated rate.
  11. You notice the color of the shirt? LOL I crack myself up sometimes. Jacket was an accident. My job gave me the shirt. I guess Orange Crush is my color. You can also tell it is the wifes car with a plant in the back and hello Kitty stuff.
  12. MercyGirl productions has now created head to head comparison of the tail lights with this follow up video on how to replace the tail light brake lights in a 2011 ford edge. The one noticeable difference is the 2008 only uses one bulb in the brake lights and the 2011 uses two bulbs in each brake light. The 2011 has less charring on the light socket as you see in the video. The 2011 has less years and miles so the sockets are of course in better condition. Enjoy the video. Compared to the 2008
  13. 2011 Ford Edge tail light bulb replacement video is nearly ready. Special thanks to MercyGirl for her fine video assistance. I think she is starting to like this. Anyway some rendering to be done and then uploading. Shorter video so it should not take long.
  14. Tail to tail comparison coming of the 2008 and 2011 tail light bulb change out. 2011 model uses a different bulb than the 2008, and apparently set up slightly different. We will compare and document via video.
  15. My mistake sorry I wrote the wrong number of miles. It was actually 1,523 miles since I replaced the LCA. My bust. I will try to be more accurate. LOL
  16. About a thousand miles on the new LCA and going down the road good. I plan a replacement of the left LCA in a few weeks as it was noted to be loose enough to need replacement. I did not like the feeling the right side gave me when it was really worn. Preventative maintenance means other parts are not stressed and cost less.
  17. Great year if I may say so. How many miles that Edge got on it?
  18. Just working on taxes and the 2008 edge had a lazy year and only clock about 40k miles for the year. I did however stay in hotels a lot more than in the past. Some slow client days and months, but it is picking up with average miles for the first of the year running at or above 5k miles a month. Just going to get busier as business is picking up and I just picked up a client in Sioux Falls south dakota with 14 other locations. I am looking at 6K plus months coming up. Guess I should try not to ride her hard and put her away wet so I can keep her going. At this rate the odometer might read 300,000 miles around August. Time to change the banner to what to expect at 300,000 plus miles. LOL.
  19. There are many sources available on the net for short warranty used 2008 Ford Edge transmissions. I would recommend that route, but most definitely get a second opinion as IMO I find it hard to believe they think you need a whole new transmission when it is most likely a sensor issue.
  20. Everything is relative. If you are driving 75 to 80 mph you will never get the rated MPG. If you are driving 60mph you will get the rated mpg. The information below is from a recent head to head comparison of a 2008 and 2011 Ford Edge's running identical miles and time on an identical route following each other. Finally returned with the 2011 Ford Edge Limited. The color I mentioned was off a bit. It is actually registered as Cinnamon Metalic. Drives great and wife loves it. I did a head to head comparison on fuel mileage as both cars drove exactly the same distance and the refueling at the pump revealed the 2011 was running at 26.1 miles per gallon and the 2008 was running at 24 miles per gallon. Just as I was expecting the 2011 on the highway does pretty good. Time will tell now as it will become a mostly city driver now that the wife has it.
  21. I find it hard to believe that a new transmission is needed. This absolutely sounds like the Rear Output sensor.
