Replacement Front Brake.Original or not?
macbwt replied to EDST777's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
Go with the original motorcraft part and you will be fine. Note the rear brakes tend to last longer than the front brakes as they have to work harder. Obratite vnimaniye na zadniye tormoza , kak pravilo, dol'she , chem peredniye tormoza , kak oni dolzhny rabotat' tyazheleye -
I am enjoying a day off and got curious. I checked on some 2008 ford edges in my area and asked the sales persons if they had replaced the fuel tank. Each one did check and say no (good on them) but here is the kicker they said they could get the tank and have it replaced in a week if I were to purchase it. I left it at that....These dealers must have super secret suppliers the rest of us do not know about.

I agree to your statement about repairing the actual leaking tanks as any supplier to Ford should be able to kick a few new tanks out on a customized small run basis. I see custoized fabrication at my clients all the time. Not to mention making a customer park their vehicle for almost a year in some cases. If they told me that I would say then give me that 2015 Edge over there to drive if you do not want me talking bad and never buying again. I am curious as to who or what company is making these replacement tanks if Ford is not the OEM for them. Anyone?

If you have not replaced the rear output speed sensor yet. You might want to start saving up some money for that repair.

I believe that. My leaf blower i have in the garage most likely could out perform those eighty models turbos.

The recall letter essentially says sorry your car is the equivalent of the FORD Pinto fire and death trap, but since we do not have a fuel tank for you, you must stop driving it and if you do we are not responsible. By the way we sent this letter with no intent of really fixing the problem anytime soon. Please stand by and wait for us to contact you. No matter how long it takes. Just a little sarcasm inserted.

So is this Blizzard the end of the world or what? Radar does not make it out to be all what they hype in the news.

Maybe I should shop for another 08 at a ford dealer with lower mileage then offer to buy it at the asking price if they can phsically and documentally proved the fuel tank was replaced by the time of th sale otherwise give it to me for 1k dollars. Just got to mess with them.

Always be aware of those "Lifetime" things buyer be ware.

I think I will stick with "something was spilled on the engine" as my final answer. LOL. Either way drive the wheels off of it.
-
LOL. I was a criminal investigator in my previous career in the Navy. I turned that into a second job as a private OSHA consultant. No killing required. LOL

So you have had the valve cover removed and a new gasket installed? If so I am more than willing to bet they cleaned it with something during the process because of the pattern on the cover. It resembles a spill or wiping more than a spray of something. This being said. Keep on driving it as there is nothing wrong other than some discoloration. I like to investigate and ask questions might have something to do with my previous job. LOL

I will definately be going over the fuel tank tomorrow while I have it lifted on the rack and changing the belts. This issue of vehicle rentals would be of great concern, because I drive 50-60k miles a year. A small corolla would not work as a replacement vehicle due to equipment hauling. Big concern.

Really happy my remote start now works. Tomorrow is the day I replace the belts and tensioner. This will take some of the worry out of wondering is today the day the belts will break?

My memories of turbos go back to the mid eighty's which was a complete failure for most auto manufacturers.

Since I have never shown a photo of my 2008 Ford Edge this is what it looks like. Not bad considering the snow today.

From the album: Snow covered ford edge
Parked on a rare day when it is not out clocking hundreds of miles each day. If you look close you can see the tires shivering. LOL -
I can not argue with your statement. No matter what Lawyers ALWAYS win monetarily

Ford is losing sales by word of mouth. Friend of mine ruled out a AWD Ford Edge purchase after i recommended he research the AWD ford edge before he made a decison. One sale lost due to Fords inability to fix the problem. I did recommend the FWD but he wanted an AWD for his wife and daughter.

Are you saying it is like the cell phone unlimited data plan that has a limit? LOL

Since I do not know much about turbos....my question is based on my driving habits. I drive 90 pecent of more interstate or hiways, 60 -75mph consistantly. I do however on occasions park and idle for about 30 minutes to two hours (not often) based on this use anyone have an idea if a 2.7L turbo would be a good choice or should I stay with the tried and true 3.5L? I am not planning on getting rid of my current edge anytime soon, but wonder about the durability of this engine compared to the 3.5's proven durability. This of course could change rapidly with one small fender bender as I have so many miles on my edge a claim for a rock chip would possibly cause the insurance company to total it.

Contact your local news and see if they will do a story on it. UP the PRESSURE!!! Make it look like the Ford Pinto all over again.

It would be great to see a video on this repair.

This does have me curious. Two of the coils are grey plastic and one appears to be black along with the engine. On that side of the engine is the transmission fluid fill tube. Have you had the transmission flushed or serviced? Just trying to think of some reasons for this as I checked my latest PCV video I made and my engine valve covers are oxidized/corroded but are white corrosion otherwise known as the same thing as rust is to steel. It also appears to be a spill more than a spray as far as a pattern. Mechanically if nothing is leaking then I in my own decison would just keep on driving and monitor things on occasion.
