Used but new to us 2011 Ford Edge Limited (second addition)
macbwt replied to macbwt's topic in Welcome Forum!
Wonder which edge will get the best gas milage on the return home. 3.5 hour drive and both driving the same speed etc. I will fill both then refill at destination to see how they compare in the real world. -
Oh the race car tires. LOL I think I will stick to the regular tires they are cheaper.

10 little monkeys jumping on the bed one fell off and bumped his head. Doctor said Replace your rear lift supports so you don't bump your head. And I did.

Wife is getting excited about our 7 hour round trip drive to go pick up the new to us 2011 Ford Edge Limited. This edge will replace our 2004 chevy trailblazer and I know provide a more reliable vehicle for my family. She will have 3.5 hours driving home to become familar with the Edge. Unfortunately I will most likely drive my old edge home with her following by myself as the girls have all informed me they want to ride in the new car. Such is the life of the Dad.

I can not stop watching this is like a train wreck LOL -
Never used synthetic oil in the edge all mobile one 5-20 conventional oil until recently. Most likely I have saved thousands in oil changes. Keep in mind with the miles I have driven I have changed out approximately 300 quarts of oil and 54 filters. Spending about or just under 3k dollars on oil changes in four years. I am not a true believer of any specific oil brand or synthetic oils. I change out my oil at the location Xpress lube based on their customer relations and service. To me oil is oil and they all try to meet the standards so just change it out regularly and you will be fine. My car is a work car I make money with it and I need reliability so I fix everything as soon as possible. This is the key point that keeps a car running. I have seen many people not even change the oil and then complain that the engine blew up. I do know one thing. When this engine does give up it will most likely be metal fatigue, immediate and catastrophic

Ok a little more information from the Mobil one xpress lube located at Davenport Iowa. They have been servicing all of my vehicles for many years. Great place and honest christian owned family business. That being said. The filter that has been used int the 2008 ford edge forever has been the Generic Mobil one filter that goes by the name (Promotive) this is a dealer filter unmarked with only the filter number on it. Must be good enough to have gotten me to this point. Again I change my oil monthly no matter what. The laws of averages for my driving come out to about 5k miles per oil change with new filter. Keep in mind I change my wifes oil filter and oil out every three months and at times she only has 1500 miles on the odometer. I also know it has about as many miles of idle time from her waiting for our kids at school etc. so I change it earlier but take in account the idle time. Plus her driving is all gas and brake if you know what i mean.

akirby, The historical oil changes have been conventional motor oil (non snythetic) at intervals of 4-6K miles with a filter change each time. 5-20 oil. About 6 months ago I believe I shifted to Mobile One high mileage due to seal leakaged. I document all my changes due to business expenses so yes each is recorded. The tranny fluid is changed about 90k. Please note I change the oil every month like clockwork. I do this because of the miles I drive so I found it easier to just change it monthly thus the 2K mileage swing.

I do know that any dealers I talked to while looking for my wife's Ford Edge are using my 2008 as a sales point saying hey we had a guy in here with a 2008 that had 270,000 miles on it. LOL

Thirty years ago an engine with this many miles and having these results would simply been declared a miricle. Engineering and manufacturing has changed a lot.

I do admit a small amount of jealosy as I really liked the improvements they have made to the Edge even a the 2011 model. The ride was better and made me feel like I am driving an old worn out dump truck. LOL

Decided on this 2011 Ford Edge Limited with 88k miles. Two Edge family now. -
Looking at a 2011 FWD Limited with 88K miles price 16,995 USD Which just happens to be the same price I paid for my 2008 SE with 63K miles in 2010. I just got in my oil analysis on my 2008 with 270,000 miles. I will report the findings on the pinned section for what to expect at 200k plus miles. Junk or ready for race day? Stay tuned.

Next posting video I will do along with the lift gate struts will be the results on my engine oil analysis. The results are.........? One foot in the junk yard or is this edge ready for race day? Stay tuned..........

I use the Bridgestone Dueler Alanza Ecopias. 149.00 each but great traction in all weather and a nice quiet tire. The bonus is the low rolling resistance for as they say better fuel mileage and I get 60 to 70k miles out of them.
