A bit of the head to head oil testing I have started. You may find the results mildly surprising. Did these oils come out of the same barrel?

Is this a 3.5 or a 2.7. The 2.7 has an external water pump. How hard you been running this 2.7? Any track time? This 2.7 is an open deck engine and not considered the strongest race design.

Yes something that remains in storage for 9 months and used only 2-3 months. The remaining amount of time it is used for my moth breeding program. LOL

I ran 0W20 and discovered higher than normal metal wear after 200hr of run time. I stopped using 0W20 and went back to 5W20 and metal wear stopped and I also reduced the hours of use to 100hrs. Lesson learned. Mobil is selling snake oil.

Higher RPM's will make it shift harder. No different than giving it a tiny bit of gas then shifting into gear. I should drop quickly once the engine heats up. Even at 10 F below zero my 3.5 slows down just a few minutes after is it started.

I change my oil every 200hrs (roughly 10K miles) have been for for a while. I use synthetic oils. If you are concerned with the heat you can bump up the viscosity a bit to a 30 and it will be fine in high heat situations. I have ran a 10W30 in the Duratec with no issues. As far as oil types. Humm it is what you believe it is. I am currently running my Duratec with this. Just about ready to drain it and test the oil but no issues so far, but I will let the oil test speak to the results.

Internal water pump and as estimates go is about 1500-2000 dollar job. Thanks for the input though.

Keep in mind the winter fuel mix is also in effect and your mileage will drop also.

Been having great results with the BOSS oil filter by purolator. 200hr runs and particulates are way below average.

You could go with Redline oil but that would be an expensive oil to use. However it does exceed all specs for oil needs for the Edge.

Looks like they will have to go to ford and buy two turbos then the development can begin.
