  1. Repair the PCM and install a new coil. You should be back on the road without an issue.
  2. What? Can't hear you. I did this to get a bit more noise and to see what the real deal was. No change in git up go and no change in MPG's Just more noise on acceleration and yes I kinda like noise on acceleration. Plus not a video I found of anyone actually performing the job. A lot of after the fact so since LU agreed to the operation I said why not. Thanks for the tail light I have not noticed it was out. I do not drive BB much. Guess I will have to go out and buy LED brake light now. LOL
  3. They look darn close, but it would be gamble just the same. Time to go look and take measurements.
  4. What to expect at 213,000 miles the one thing that destroys most cars in the midwest. RUST. this is my approach to extending the life of the Edge, but you can not stop rust just slow it down.
  5. Blueberry is getting a new set of cooling fans tomorrow. Just making sure it does not have any problems while I am gone on the road. I will keep the old fans for testing and maybe use in my other Edge if they ever fail.
  6. At 212,000 miles I decided LU needed a cocktail of sorts. This is what I did.
  7. You never know until you ask the one in charge.
  8. Could be a loose oil pressure sending unit. Sensor. Any oil leaking from the front of the engine?

    Coolant Temp

No tow for either. I feel the Edge with the higher engine temp needs more highway as all it does is MOMBUS duty and idles 90 percent of the time.
  10. Right now Sirius is not playing. They are not offering lapsed accounts and renewal deals and playing hard ball with the take it or leave it approach. I let my account expire tried to renew with a good deal and they said this is the price take it or leave. I left it on the table and walked away. My phone is now my entertainment on the road.
  11. First thing you have to double check is are you sure the injector is bad? Not that it is not possible but injector failure is not a big issue with the Duratec. Plugs and coils are.
  12. If you are going to replace the injectors you may as well replace the plugs and rotate the coils.

    Coolant Temp

Depends. But at highway speeds I have one 2011 Edge 3.5 that holds a steady temp of 192-194 degrees at 77 mph. The other Edge runs warmer and can reach up to 199-200 degrees under the same conditions. However the warmer Edge runs a trans temp of 186 degrees and the cooler Edge runs 200 degrees for transmission temp. Give and take essentially.
  14. What engine cover? LOL. Oh you mean the mouse bedding.
  15. Got LU dressed up for the ball. First ever real engine cleaning and dressing.
  16. Hedging my bets and bought a new fan assembly for my wife's Edge Blueberry. She does a lot of idling and since she is nearly 96K miles I figure this saves me a phone call later while I am on the road and not home. Just replace the fan and hand on to the old one as a back up for LU since LU has 211,000 miles on her fan now.
  17. If you have to use a pry bar you have the wrong part/Strut mount.
  18. I have had a phone charging cable touching the panel and it actually changed the fan speed just by jiggling and hitting the touch controls. Do you have anything laying or draped around that area that would touch the controls?
  19. General fluid maintenance and even parts replacement on the Edge is a simple task. The KEY to a viable, good running Ford Edge is to maintain the fluids. I mean replace them far more frequently than FORD recommends. Then your Edge will last a long time.
  20. Draining the coolant is messy. It is a plastic nut on the bottom or the radiator for the 2011+ Do not pull it out as it is attached. Not a real clean way to drain it.
  21. Order new fan assembly make sure it is a Motorcraft fan assembly 15 minute replacement job then you will be done.
  22. I have 30K miles on my Michelin Premier LTX V rated tires. The front tires are at or about 4/32nds of tread. Today I stopped turned off the traction control put it in 1st and floored my 2011 FWD Edge. A small squeak and all traction from the tires. I will say even with the wear they keep on hugging the road wet or dry.
