    Ditto you are over due on a lot of maintenance. Time to start spending money on the plugs and ALL THE FLUIDS Brake, trans, powersteering and COOLANT!!

    Change the transmission fluid. The 6F50 loves fresh transmission fluid. anything over 60K is too much.

    Auto parts stores may rent the cam holders. If you do the job yourself you are looking at about 400 dollars in parts. Chain, VCT's waterpump, Guides, tensioners, belts, and belt tensioner. I am even replacing the oil pump when I do this job.

    Might be defective. None of the new purge valves I installed made noise.

    Ford is paying my wife $50 bucks to test drive a 2018 Edge. She wants the ST but also figures why pass up on the $50. Go get er girl!!! Just in time for valentines day!! wonder if she will spend it on Snap on tools for me? LOL

    I was able to crawl under the Ford Edge ST prototype and get some video of the under carriage. Exhaust, drive line and a bit of the PTU etc.

    I think Ford learned some hard lessons with the dry clutch automatic in the Focus. The Edge will is a wet clutch design for the new 8sp according to the research I have done.

    I have made a decision. This summer when my Edge LU is at about 250,000 miles I will make a detailed video on DIY change of the water pump, oil pump and all related parts of the process with the engine in the Edge. I will replace the VCT's, guides, chain etc. Soon I will be replacing all three of the mounts Engine mount, trans mount and maybe if I get the custom part a custom higher performance Transmission Torque Mount designed specifically for the 2011 Edge!!!

    Nearly 224,000 miles had a hiccup for the second time in three months. rough idle and hesitation at start from stop light. Wondering if I should pack a small socket set and the spare Throttle body into the Edge just in case.

    This is the first of a series of oil testing of virgin oil samples to show the additives in the oils before the oil is used. In some cases used oil samples will be compared to the virgin samples of the same brand and viscosity. The sample presentations will be compared two at a time with approximately twenty brands from house brands to the high end brands. Lube oil for the PTU will also be tested to show the additives in the lube oils. Most of the oil testing will cover oils used in the Duratec and Ecoboost the oils tested will be 5W20 synthetics. Viscosity does not play much of a part as the brands do in the testing. Viscosity will have little affect on the additives in the oils. No conventional or blended oils will be tested. Most used samples will be from a 3.5 Duratec and under severe driving conditions (high idle times and short trips) The other oil testing on a 3.5 will be mostly highway/interstate driving and some idle time. all filters were either AMSOIL high efficiency filters .25 micron or Purolator Boss high efficiency All vehicle used oil testing were Ford Edge Limited 3.5 FWD Most testing is measured in engine hours and not miles.
