Had a series of fluid changes done yesterday. Oil change on Lullubelle. Full on stick and good condition after 5k miles. Then I had Blueberry's transmission flushed at 76K miles. Noticed a big difference in fluid compared to Lullubelle. We could see a slight tint of red yet when the fluid was flushed out. As a thank you bonuse the owner ran 14 quarts through Blueberry instead of the 12 quart recommended amount to give her an extra flush and then he gave me 10 dollars off the cost. $139.00 for the flush. Pretty good deal.

My prize for the day. Overall they look OK. These plugs appear to have copper threads. The new ones did not. Overall the engine runs better. Currently working on putting the video together. As I said earlier. The Youtube videos on the first gen 3.5 definately do not reflect the 2nd Gen 3.5 changes.

Got her done. New plugs installed. Learned some valuable lessons for next time and found that most of the parts I purchased are worthless. PCV totally different and could not use the one sold to me and definately changed from the 08 to 10 models. This Gen2, 3.5 is not like the other videos on Youtube you are watching. Many differneces that almost had me stumped and caused Alldata research to be conducted. IThe plenem gaskets I thought I bought were the wrong ones. I guess this gasket is only available through the Ford Dealer. So i cleaned the PCV and the plenem gaskets and reused both. I broke the clip to the EVAP line and fixed it with a zip tie. No issues noted as the seal was good just the holding clip broke. Lullubelle is now topless so if you do not like to see a topless lullebelle then do not watch the soon to be posted video. TB was nasty, nasty, nasty, black carbon build up on both sides and since you have to remove the TB to gain access to the lower bracket plenem bolt I decided to give it a good cleaning. Luck had it I had for some reason decided to bring a spray can of TB cleaner which turned out to be a great thing. I also penetrated Lullubelle with the endoscope and checked out the intake valves and the cylinders after I took out the spark plugs so if I did it correctly I should have video of the violation of Lullubelle. Overall everything look pretty good. The end result was she started and idled great, seems to have a bit more pep and power. Time will tell once I get her on the interstate and run a few miles. The only thing I can say is again watch the video (it will be longer) but it will save you a bunch of headaches and help you avoid the issues I encountered to learn and be prepared.

They are the victor renz and I have seen them in the online photo and match what I am looking for. Just returned home with the plugs SP520 and waiting for the gaskets to arrive/be called they arrived. Other note Blueberry received a transmission flush and the fluid looked pretty good at 76k miles. Other concern I will address with Lullubelle is the sluggish acceleration. If the plugs do not change the ole girls attitude then I may have to take her in and check the TB as there is a noticable difference in acceleration between the two edges. Time to go, just received a call the gaskets are in.

No spark plug work today. Due to two parts issues. Parts store clerk gave me sp411 plugs when I specifically asked for SP 520 and stated it was a 2011 and not a 2008 ford edge. (I think he refrenced the Orange Crush on this one) The intake gasket is not due until this afternoon so it will be too late to get to the Auto Skills center to do the work. So Saturday again I will be there vice today. Guess I will mow the lawn instead. Yeah!!!

I am replacing my plugs and gaskets tomorrow and will be making a video on how to do it. Coil on line should not run very much, but I am under 70 dollars for the plugs, gaskets and a PCV so the coil price you would have to add to the mix but can most likely do it yourself for under 150 dollars in your driveway.

Riddle me this....Dealer Tech could find no evidence that Lullubelle has MYKEY. Yet I switched keys and now I do not have limits on the speed. Swithed back and I have limits on speed at 80mph yet no MYKEY located in the system. Is MYKEY and option on 2011 limiteds? One key is definately restricted and the other key is not and there are no MYKEY or ADMIN choices available.

I checked the other key and I still get no MYKEY options or ADMIN options. Yet it shuts down at 80mph. I guess I will have to take it to the MFT guru to see if something in the program is not activated or the keys are not communicating.

I have the MFT but do not see access to Mykey/Admin. From what I understand I will not see that since I have a Mykey and not the Admin key. I will have to check this out with the other key when I get home.

OK since I have tried to access the Mykey in the settings and do not find MYkey or admin in the menu. I am assuming that I have been MYKEY'ed by my wife and can not go faster than 80mph.(She loves me) LOL I guess I will have to get the Admin key from her, but here is the kicker if she did not program it then I am safe to assume I will have to take Lullubelle to the Ford Dealer to reset the mykey and admin key code so that I can disable it. Correct?

I will have to check this out. The level of trim of Lullubelle is about as low as you can go with a limited so I do not think she has Mykey but I will verify this today. That would suck if it does and I do not know the code. I can't drive 80 mph!!

I will say the previous owners were a younger couple, that wanted a limited but it is apparent they could not afford it. The wipers that i replaced were the cheapest wipers you can buy and the Hancook tires!!! Well all I can say about hancook tires is if you want no wet weather traction, no snow traction and a ride equivalent to a dump truck with a cheap price then Hancook tires are the best choice. I doubt they changed the oil until the meter said to change it and the rear brakes were stuck which is why the pads wer worn on one side. No under carriage washing was performed. The transmission fluid was not changed but then again I think every Edge owner believes ford on this issue and will drive it to 150K miles before they change it. Over all I consider this a shake down run despite the miles and will get the maintence up to speed and things replaced.

Mileage has dropped a bit and I am at almost 95K on plugs. Plan on replacing them this weekend, but have another 1k miles to drive yet. I believe you are right because she has been dropping a gear on hills that normally she did not do before. I had this same issue with another vehicle when the plugs were worn I believe I named it Orange Crush, but she went almost 150K on plugs. Guess Lullebelle might be a little more sensitive.

Ok Folks here is the scenario. Traveling at 75mph hit gas pedal floored and Lullubelle kicked down and hit 5500 rpm and hung. She would not upshift nor gain acceleration and as a matter of fact stumbled at about 80mph to the point that I lost speed then I released the gas peddle and she upshifted. No lights no warnings. Tried again at same speed with same results. lower speeds she will accelerate hard and upshift correctly, but at 75-80mph she chokes. Any ideas? Update maybe needed on flashing the tranny control? The Orange Crush never did this.

2008 Ford Edge rear shock removal/installation DIY Video
macbwt replied to macbwt's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
August/September I will be replacing rear shocks and front struts on Lullubelle. I am starting to look for a set of quick struts from monroe but I am having a hard time initially locating such a component as it seems that monroe does not make quick struts for the Edge. I think I may have to contact monroe directly to see if they plan on making quick struts for the Edge. -
You are the tire guy. I have never had a set of tires remain usable and not touching the wear bar anywhere near that many miles after clocking over 600K miles in 12 years. In answer to the original question I have been using Bridgestone Dueler Ecopia 422's for several year and they have better snow traction than the scorpio's as rated under Tire rack. They are also a very quiet tire and will get you to about 70K miles before the wear bar gets noticable. Been through 4 sets and not had any belt seperations or damage due to road hazards. Seal great on the rims every time and not even weather checked when it comes to time to replace them and I never treat the tires with any preservative. The alanza's would be my next choice very quiet tires and smooth.

Interestingly enough I discoved there is no way to turn off the dome lights in the car if you want the rear hatch open to watch fire works. No override button nothing!!! I did however discover if you keep the doors closed and leave the hatch un molested for a long time the dome lights will eventually turn off. You have to wait for the Edge to determine it is time to turn the dome lights off. In the meanwhile you get to watch fire works with the dome lights on. Ford put a button in the dash to over ride the dome lights!!!!

The rear areodynamics have been improved by CONING the rear of the Edge (upsweep from below and a downsweep from above) this is most likely how Ford gained a bit of MPG out of the Edge through the redesign.

Since the topic is Double Edged it would only be right to include the cabin air filter replacement video for Lullubelle. It took less than 4 minutes to change it out. Happy 4th of July and God Bless America.
