  1. Transmission holds 12 quarts of LV fluid.
  2. The more I drive Lullubelle the less I notice the engine braking. Maybe I was just to attuned to how the 2008 3.5 and tranny were set up and coasted. She is feeling better and better the more I drive. I did change to high Octane 91 for the last two tanks, but not sure if this made a difference. Any clues? Thoughts?
  3. Why does everything cost 600 dollars? I just did a walk through Safety inspection on a dealership. It is always fun to see all those mechanics working on cars. Talked to a 27 year veteran and checked out his 20k dollar tool box (shed) that thing had everything in it. Simply amazing.
  4. I have worked with both monroe and KYB. I am personally going with KYB for the front and will be doing the same on the rear. The monroe shocks and struts just felt too soft. KYB seem to feel firmer. My research and experience also confirms your thoughts that monroes do not last very long which is why I am going with KYB. Here is a link to my Youtube channel. Just subscribe and you will be notified of all new videos I upload. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJb7karK2nhyA7G1BW6xESg Keep the bellows and bump stops in place the bellows help protect the shaft and the bump stop (of course) stops the bumps should you hit a really hard pot hole. Will be replacing my front struts soon and a video will be put up on my youtube channel. Rears will also be replaced. This however will be on the 2011 vice the 2008, which is not much of a difference overall. Note: you can reuse the bellows and bump stop from the old struts unless they are damaged. You have a bearing mount going bad or actually has gone bad. The bumping will increase. Based on your miles and driving habits start planning now and buying parts and by winter time you should be ready to install them (both) replace both at the same time. As far as bearing mounts I am going with the Moog bearing mounts. I have tried others and they have failed both times and the Moogs held up when the others did not. It was an expensive job to replace failed parts twice. Just an FYI
  5. I have always felt torque steer in all the Edges. Felt it really hard today from a dead stop at the on ramp entrance. Slammed the gas down and the left front wheel squealed until the traction control hit then was at 88mph by the time I hit the merge to the interstate. Pretty good pick up when needed.
  6. 150 miles today on Blueberry and I wish the other one had adaptive cruise. I love it. The acceleration is different with Blueberry compared to Lullubelle. Hard to pin point but she lags when it comes to acceleration. Wonder if Mykey has anything to do with it? Will have to wait for the analysis i guess.
  7. Might be that I have to get used to the way it runs. The orange crush just rolled along freely.
  8. Lullubelle has an appointment with dealer to see if they can locate the Mykey in the system and restore it. Then a diagnosis to see why she is dragging her butt around. I think the throttle body is acting up and the cleaning did not help. Still has the same exact issues where she actually slows down going down hill. Has hard time accelaerating and a slight hesitation. Hopefully a targeted diagnosis on the computers will isolate the issue. I will purchase and install a new TB myself if this is deemed the issue.
  9. My car aligned great with bad ball joints. You will have to phsically check them. Basically the alignment people do not check this and merely leave the weight on the car and adjust the bad ball joints into correct alignment. The issue is once you replace the bad ball joints your alignment will be completely out of whack.
  10. Fluid level correct? Overdrive may not engage if fluid is low. Just a thought. Otherwise did they flash the system to update it when they did the work?
  11. Raise it up a bit then get a pry bar in between the ball joint and the LCA. Tire should be touching the ground with a bit of weight on it but not a lot then pry the LCA up or down and look to see movement. Then raise it up and pull on the bottom and top of the tire. If you feel movement and see the ball joint move then you got it. Front to back movement will be your tie rods. Personally I change out the tie rods, sway bar link and the LCA at the same time then have an alignment done immediately afterwards. Check out my video on the LCA removal and re installation in "what to expect at 200,000 miles in this section. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/14129-what-to-expect-at-200000-miles/ If you are patient I will be performing some strut work on my 2011 in the near future along with rear shocks.
  12. Not really a bump, but at low speed I do not get a shift and the throttle is very sensitive with a quick deceleration if I let off the gas and fast accelertation if I give it a little gas. Does this around city driving, but have no issues on the interstate. Although I still feel Lullubelle is dragging her..... some times. Blueberry does not behaive in this manner and runs great. When I get a chance this next week I will get it to the Auto skills center and get the computer on it. I may take it in to the dealer to have the Mykey located and found since it has disappeared and no one seems to know why or where it went.
  13. Here is a review of the Moog Lower Control Arm with ball joint assembly. This part runs approximately $75.00 through amazon. The Ford OEM will run you about 230.00 dollars. I have installed about three or these. You do not need to install the whole arm as I have never had a control arm bushing go bad, but in order to install the ball joint you have to almost remove the LCA anyway or at least the strut and drive shaft. I have found it easier to remove the LCA and install a new one. Here is the video review on the Moog LCA for the Right side of the Edge.
  14. All the symptoms of a ball joint. Turns more one direction than the other or on the outside chance a really bad wheel bearing. You may want to check both. Strut will give you steering problems on bumps and pot holes as the energy will transfer to the steering wheel. The edge turnin more that you turned the steering wheel is the ball joint. If this is the case then you need to get it fixed soon as this ball joint is ready to pop.
  15. At least Blueberry is a Ford Certified and I will not have to deal with it. Although Lullubelle will be a different story.
  16. Even after the cleaning when I first take off and drive and many other times the shifting at the low end of take off is sluggish and hard to change gears. I was hoping the TB cleaning would help but I believe the little chip inside the TB plastic covering is the failure point for the TB and not the mechanical part of the TB. I will have to check and see with a scanner so see if I get the same results. If so then a new TB cover or TB is in order to repair this.
  17. I would think if they say leather and not state that the "leather" is man made materials then Ford could be sued for false advertising and product labeling which would be a very costly trick. I am sure that it is leather. However just remember quality is also a determining factor in the feel of the leather. I am sure other materials that do not touch and massage your hiny are not leather and mentioned in the literature that those materials are man made. This practice does cut down costs, but is noted in the sales materials.
  18. A follow up will be posted to show if the coating on the rotors is working as advertised to prevent rust/corrosion and check ceramic pad wear. By then I should have about 50k miles on the brakes.
  19. So the sign that the booster is failing is when you press the brake peddle to start the car and it is rock hard, then softens when the engine starts? If this is a sign or symptom then Blueberry has this problem, because the brake pedal is so hard it does not move until i push the button to start it.
  20. Here ya go. Throttle body removal, cleaning and re-installation.
  21. Re-edited video to reflect just the throttle body removal, cleaning and re-installation.
  22. Not that I need to replace the LCA on the right side yet, but I have it now. This is a replacement LCA from the Orange Crush. Since the parts are all the same for the model years. I now have the LCA and sway bar link on hand. Just need the bolts and tie rod. The way I look at it if you are going in you may as well do a good job and ensure thing are in good condition and then you do not have to return later to fix the other parts.
  23. You just get the pleasure of having brakes that function like a 1956 international dump truck, which by the way had push button start on it. Go figure.
  24. If you buy the police interceptor version Ford will fix the latch for free since it is recalled. The rest of us are out of luck. Go to SAFECAR.GOV and register an official complaint.
