It has been tough, but once the TB is running and then I get the AC going again I am putting a REALLY BIG FOR SALE sign on it.
-
I did some simple math and the 2.0l are running a premium of about 4k more than the 3.5L in pricing. Based on my fuel consumption it would take about 3.5 years to break even on the fuel savings then figure in the additional interest on the loan for the privilege along with higher registration fee due to the higher selling price I would be most likely having to drive the 2.0L at least 4 plus years just to break even on the extra costs vice just staying with the 3.5 Liter. I am referencing the SE models and not even getting into the AWD or Limiteds.

I guess the 2.0L Ford Edge owners are a rather shy bunch or no one is buying them. Hummmmmmm

Great news today got the budget set and ordering two new parts for the Orange Crush. Transmission torque mount and the sway bar link. Had to share the budget with my nemesis the 2004 Chevy Trailblazer as it needs new Coils (COP) and once the engine is running (praying this is it) then I can order the accumulator and recharge the AC. The goal is to then place a large FOR SALE sign on the TB. Just getting prepared for a future replacement for the Orange Crush. More videos to come (maybe this weekend) if the parts arrive in time.

I myself have wood chuck problems. One of those rats in my engine compartment might be noticeable.

Rattle From Underneath Car When Pressing Gas Pedal

This video might or might not be the answer. Or does your noise sound somewhat the same? Watch the video. -
I do agree with Hydrogen use as it is a great source, but issues are all over the place when you live in a world that gets 25 below zero. Hard to go anywhere with a frozen tank of water. Overall I have used E85 and went back to gasoline. I buy regular gas with no ethanol. Kwik Stars provide that option at the pumps. Another correct observation on JD also as my clients are suffering the downward trend and yes because the TAX PAYER made the corn more expensive because of politicians and now the market is back to normal. Iowa politicians are fighting like crazy to get more subsidized corn but people are learning that ethanol is just too expensive to create using corn and taxpayer support.

Wheel bearing wobble? Bent ring? Or wiring worn and touching the frame? Give it a good inspection.

What do I do with my 2008 Ford Edge? Well I thought I needed to get to the camp site to clean it up a bit and retrieve my chain saw etc. So why not go off roading in the muddy path with the Orange Crush and a broken transmission mount and broken sway bar link. What could possibly go wrong. In fact nothing but hey it was a fun time. See the video.

This is for folks who own and drive a Ford Edge with a 2.0L turbo. The 2008 Ford Edge I lovingly call the Orange Crush is nearing a life of service most likely somewhere after 300,000 miles. I am wanting information on how the engine is holding up and using your input to decide if I should stay with the trusty 3.5L duratec or jump into the 2.0L turbo. your input is appreciated.

Liberate you engine!! burn the bra eerrrr engine cover. My trialblazer does not have an engine cover yet the little varmints get in there anyway. Tired of cleaning out acorn shells.

Based on the recall maybe a little rust? LOL

Makes you wonder what the intank fuel filter looks like Huh?

about 15K dollars.

I just laugh at the new car sales folks when they say 3 years 36K miles. What six months warranty is that it? ESP are not even in my thoughts cost too much and cover nothing to speak of. And if they do you have to jump over a dozen hoops like a circus dog in order to even get them to say they will fix it. Pay as I go and hope for the best. The cost for the economy of the 2.0 does not attract me. I do not pay for the gas. The boss pays for the gas I pay for the car. You should see my tax return for mileage etc.
-
Side note. Starting to look around and trying to decide do I stay with the trusty 3.5L or do I go with a 2.0 turbo? I am not sure I want to be the first person to endurance test the 2.0L turbo.

My steering rack looks pretty similar to yours. It still works with not much of an issue. The lines to your power steering have a history of breaking and it looks in your photo that the fluid is leaking and spraying the entire underside of the vehicle similar to what my power steering hose did. I am betting the power steering pump is good just a line that is leaking. Still a pricy fix as the part alone is in the $100 plus category.

Ya know the AC was on so it might of been the compressor turning on and off as I have not ran it with the AC on for awhile. That is most likely it. I will listen more carefully for the AC to cycle. Cleaning the TB might still be a good Idea and maybe even a couple of sprays of MAF cleaner would not hurt. Even an old dog needs a bath once in a while.

Make a complaint to NHTSA to document it then ford will be forced to address the defect. On a lighter note install a 1949 IH truck steering wheel it will provide you with plenty of leverage. Might be hard to get into the car though it is a pretty big steering wheel.

Yesterday while waiting for MercyGirl i had the orange crush just idling. Every once in a while it would give a small shake and about a 100 rpm reduction. Not much but not really a normal for it. I am thinking I may need to address the throttle body by cleaning it since I have NEVER cleaned it to see if this may help. I am betting it has dirt, bugs, gunk, gummi bears and old french fries in it and deserves a little attention.

Just a side note. Today was a very good day and God has provided me with the abilities to do the things I do daily. In the end my boss even thought so and provided me a very good incentive.

This must of been the day the cheap Chinese sway bar link broke. The moog on the other side still going strong. For all it is worth go with Moog sway bar links they seem to hold up pretty well.

Checked dealer price on the transmission mount and similar to pricing above this posting. Although the dealer mentioned in the above posting is discounting with shipping it is still cheaper than my local dealer. Local dealer stated he has never had to order a transmission mount for a Ford Edge nor a right side motor mount. I would be the first. go figure. Drove the wife 2011 yesterday and I am sure starting to like how it rides so much I had weird thoughts of taking her car out and leaving mine. Of course I do not want to be divorced so it was just a thought. LOL

Just curious how many BTU's does it take to make a gallon of ethanol? In other words how much or type of fossil fuels does it take to make one gallon of ethanol. Using fossil fuel to make fuel OXYMORON? I have an earth inertia engine I have for sale to those that are interested. A vicious circle of tax payer money that ultimately ends up being made then sold at discounted tax payer subsidized rates to overseas buyers. FACT!!

Well figured out what that noise was when I was testing the engine mounts on the orange crush. Seems the passenger side brand new Chinese sway bar link broke at the weld. Good news is it is new and should be slightly easier to remove than the old rusty one. Might go for a moog part this time.
