  1. No worries man. I think your thread you started about long term quality is a great place to cover all of these topics. I can already tell it will be a heavily traveled topic. It is your thread, so no worries about hijacking...it is yours to ask about issues on the Edge. For me, when I see a new post has been made in a thread since I've last visited it, I will always pop in to see the updates. Even if the title is something I'm not interested in, I know sometimes other questions/answers can be found in there.
  2. Yea I think the rating is based on hitch class but also the transmission. I'm sure someone could expand on the topic. Also, the factory tow package may come with some other drivetrain parts that help in towing.
  3. No issues with MFT or Sync locking up. My iPhone 6 and Samsung S6 both keep connection no problem. I have had a lot of luck with Sync between my '11 Mustang and the '15 Edge. The only issue I have is the Navigation. Just too slow/laggy to input a new address. But I usually use my phone anyway.
  4. Exactly. And not having to vacuum the carpet very much is the other bonus. I have had my WeatherTechs in my Mustang for over 5 years all year round. When I take them out, there may be a few little things to hit with the vacuum. But besides that the carpets look brand new. And vacuuming things off the mats are a lot easier than
  5. No I don't have any problems. MFT is a computer. If you have ever used a computer, you'll know sometimes things don't work as you want them to. Seriously man you are worrying way too much and keep making threads about the same exact thing: "Quality of the Ford Edge". Not trying to be an a-hole, but you could probably keep it to one thread where we'll gladly answer all of your questions.
  6. You'll love them. So easy to clean up or dump the melted snow out. And then you'll look and realize everything on that mat, used to go in to your carpet.
  7. Common with most cards. The back of my Mustang is always the dirtiest part of the car. Same with my edge.
  8. I'll check to see about the stock mats I have at home. I do have a set of the Ford All Weather matts (Front and Back) that I won't be using anymore.
  9. This is why with these types of fixes, I let time go by until I take mine in. Let them troubleshoot it first. Have some practice at it and apply some lessons learned. I would have done the same for the leak fix if the result of having the issue wasn't a pond in the floorboards.
  10. Thanks for the picture. Can you get a shot of the fiberglass on the exhaust tips and tailgate (if at all possible). I will keep an eye on mine.
  11. The cooled seat issue is not a real issue IMO. Yes, they don't work as designed but it is more of a creature comfort vs. how the vehicle functions. That is more of a personal thing.
  12. Probably the only forum where people won't be complaining too much. Probably because they fell asleep while driving that boring POS.
  13. Sport is rated 2k max. They don't have a tow package option from the factory on the Sport. You'll have to go 3rd party like the Curt hitch.
  14. Never seen that. Can you provide a picture? Do you only notice it after driving for a while? Do you see anything right after a wash?
  15. I have been reading this forum since a few weeks after the 2015s were in the dealer lots. I visit here everyday multiple times a day to see what is new. Right now this is what I'd be concerned with if looking at a 15: 1. Water leak issue. If it was built before the 28th of April, I'd probably not get it. 2. Rattles. If it has the pano roof, I'd test drive it down a bumpy road to see what kind of rattles you'd have. 3. Trim. I'd look very closely at the trim around the doors and windows to make sure they look good. Beyond that, the other issues just seem to be rare occurrences popping up. Like my exhaust sputter/rattle. Only 1 other person has reported it. Just a bad muffler/resonator.
  16. Nobody knows. Look at the thread here. Seems like it was limited to the 3.5L but I may have seen someone talk about the 2.7L having the issue. Seems like it may be a rarity. You will drive yourself nuts if you look in to every reported problem on forums. You'll end up in a Camry.
  17. Again, Quality holds happen more than twice a year. They happen all the time and rarely does the public hear about them. That just comes with mass production of products. I don't see this as a major issue. The leak thing was major and we heard about because we were the ones seeing the issue. So if it was major, I have a good feeling people would be reporting said problem and we could put 2 and 2 together. Quality holds can be anything. Probably a result of something not meeting standard so they hold the entire "batch" until they can produce a fix, verify the fix works, then test each already built unit to see if problem exists. If exists, then replace. If not, then tag it ready to go.
  18. What will an explanation change? If it is a quality hold...it is a quality hold. They won't say "Hey...mtim wants an update so lets speed things up". If you need a car ASAP and on a tight schedule, buy one off the lot. Special ordering a vehicle comes with these types of risks and you must plan for them.
  19. If you never had leaking and the fix is done, then you should be fine. But not a bad idea to keep an eye on the floor after a hard rain. Problem was the robot that did the sealing, wasn't doing it 100% of the time. So they fixed it after the 28th of April.
  20. Current Sync for me works fine. Some find it outdated. I don't spend enough time in my car to really care. As long as I can hear my music, I'm good. Yes the 2015 is a redesign. Big upgrade from the 2014 IMO. Santa Fe is a nice vehicle. But I think once you sit in and drive both, you'll see the difference between the two. Santa Fe felt....cheap...to me .
  21. I think it is safe to say you are in the clear. Did you have the fix applied? If not, next time it is at the dealer, they'll apply the fix.
  22. Like it has been mentioned before on this forum, when it comes to manufacturing, delays and holds happen all the time. I work for a manufacturer. Everyday we are investigating possible issues that may lead to a hold in production to implement new testing or change to ensure what we are sending out the door meets our standards. We have to be very careful on what we share to our distributors, partners, and customers regarding these holds because people tend to run with it like it is a major issue with ALL products. Internally we are actively investigating, testing, etc. because the less that goes out the door, the less money comes in. So it isn't like we are sitting here with our thumbs up our butt just hanging out. So I'm not surprised Ford is having holds here and there. It happens everyday. They will not release a vehicle that doesn't meet their standards. And they will not communicate every time there is a production stop....nor should they. They don't owe it to anyone. All I would expect them to say is there is a manufacturing hold for XYZ product, when additional information regarding delivery dates are known, we will communicate them to you. Remember they are building cars here.....not widgets. A lot goes in to these things. Problems pop up. Problems get fixed. Happens everyday. No need to worry.
  23. This makes sense. Because the spot I always seem to get a false reading is where water accumulates. Forms a nice puddle by the stop sign.
  24. Good to know. I didn't even step foot in the Lexus dealer because I knew it was out of my budget. I did drive the RDX (2015) and MDX. Felt really boring.
