  1. That is where I am at now. Not sure if I'll buy this Edge after Lease end. If the price is what it is today in 3 years and I decide to buy the Edge, I just may throw an extended warranty on there. OR...just put $xxx per month aside for an emergency car repair fund.
  2. That is a good deal if the price doesn't go up more than $100. Also, Lombard Ford sent me an email not too long ago about a payment plan on their warranties.
  3. If you want the extended warranty, it will be cheaper the earlier you get it. As time goes on, the price goes up.
  4. Me too. And that is why I don't understand why people get so bent out of shape when their car isn't delivered in 4-6 weeks like their dealer tells them it should.
  5. Well of course it is a significant issue for the owner. That would suck. But I can guarantee that 100% of any batch of any cars rolling off any line are going to be trouble free. Out of any large batch, there will be issues for some owners. Doesn't mean everyone should be worried. Ford sounds like they are being very cautious and making sure when a problem is identified, they will verify that the problem is resolved on every car still on the line or in the holding lot instead of taking a chance.
  6. It'll feel like every other car you've ever owned.
  7. 99% without issue is the good news. 1% may have an issue and of those there are 7 different possible problems. Sounds like the odds are pretty low for getting a leaky a-pillar.
  8. All of the complaints I read seem to be shitty dealers screwing customers over...not Ford refusing to honor the warranty. If your dealer tells you that you aren't covered, take it up a level and contact Ford directly. Dealers make good money when you are paying out of your pocket vs. warranty work. So they'll try to pull a fast one on people.
  9. I have a backup camera in my '15 Sport and my '11 Mustang. When comparing the two at night, the Mustang is very clear and does well with adjusting to the dark. The Edge though doesn't do as good at night. Isn't as clear. My theory right now is when the Edge is in reverse, part of the bumper/rear is caught in the frame. You can see it at the bottom. With my Edge being white, light is reflecting off of that piece and tricking the camera in to thinking it is lighter out than it is. Not allowing it to adjust to the true darkness. With the Mustang, the camera doesn't show any part of the vehicle. I'll post pics later for reference. I was just curious how a darker Edge's camera may work in the dark.
  10. Not sure how Ford would not live up to the contract. You buy the waranty, it is entered in to the system, and the dealer just goes by what is in the system. If it shows you have a warranty, they will cover the issue minus any deductible you have to pay. I used my Premium extended warranty a few times. The only catch was some dealers would charge a $120 diagnostics fee and if the problem was not covered under warranty, you'd be on the hook for that fee. So I made sure that whatever I took it in for, I knew it was covered.
  11. Another vote for Lombard. I have used them in the past. Good prices.
  12. See summary of changes here: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/19022-2016-ford-edge-order-guide/
  13. I too think they are touchy compared to other cars I have driven. Takes some time to get used to. Over time I'm sure it'll be less touchy due to wear.
  14. If gracenote is enabled in Sync, then it MAY override what is on the iPod. If you disable gracenote, it will use the metadata contained with the music file on the iPod.
  15. If running an iPod...I'd just let the iPod manage album art. Gracenote doesn't seem real solid. Not sure how often the database is updated.
  16. When I used my iPod with Sync the voice commands worked great. "Play Track Freebird" or "Play Artist Kiss" would usually work 99.9% of the time. It was really good for that. Now I just use Spotify or Pandora since my Free Sirius sub ran out. If I go on a long road trip, I'll activate Sirius for a week or grab one of thier 5 months for $20 specials. But right now I don't drive enough to keep Sirius no matter how cheap they offer it to me.
  17. If the infotainment system is a big factor in your purchase....you may want to wait for Sync 3 since it'll be the newest/best. If I were in your shoes, and the infotainment system was a big deciding factor...I'd wait.
  18. Yes the voice commands from Google will go over the speakers IF you have it set for Audio to come from your phone (aka you are streaming Pandora or songs from your phone). If you have it on FM or Satellite, then no it won't.
  19. A mod can. But just stop replying and it should die. If not, no big deal.
  20. I haven't tested voice command in the Edge. I used it in the Mustang in the beginning, but I'm not a fan of voice controls. It is easier for me to hit a few buttons and be on my way. The only time I use voice commands is with my phone if I'm driving and want to answer a text.
  21. You can only do so much while in motion, and entering an address is not one of them. So I'm talking about dead stopped. I'm talking about when I try to type on the screen to enter an address. Example: I will try to type the city Detroit. So I type D...pause...and then it limits the letters I can use based on the cities listed in the database.....type E....pause again to limit the letters I can use. I understand what it is doing which is trying to get to a short list for me to choose instead of typing the rest. But it is just slow. I am used to instant feedback with Google Maps. So then you do the same for the street name. And then the house number. Now if you only use it once in a blue moon...not really a big deal. And you can set presets/favorite locations so no typing is necessary for frequent places. The only time I use it now is for long trips which are rare. The cool thing with the Nav is how it shows up on the screen to the right of the speedo in MFT. So no need to look at the big screen. Just glance down to see how far until your next turn.
