  1. Below is the pics and write-up I've done for changing oil on the '15 Edge Sport 2.7L. There are some bolded areas that I'd like input to make the job easier. **THIS WRITEUP IS FOR EDUCATION PURPOSES ONLY. IF YOU DO AN OIL CHANGE, YOU ARE DOING IT AT YOUR OWN RISK. Materials You Need: 6 Quarts of 5W-30 Oil (Check owner's manual to ensure you use the right amount of oil and use oil that meets Ford's Spec). I used Mobil 1 Motorcraft FL2062 Oil Filter (Check Owner's Manual to ensure you use the right Oil Filter) 27mm Socket **Before starting, make sure your vehicle has sat ~15 minutes after running so all oil has drained from the motor. Not doing so may cause you to overfill the motor.** Removing the Oil Filter: The filter is located within the cartridge that you can access from under the hood. The pic below shows where the cartridge is located (LOOK FOR RED ARROW IN PICTURE): Using the 27mm socket, ratchet, and extension loosen the cartridge. But do not take the cartridge out yet. Let it sit up a little to let old oil drain off cartridge back down so it doesn't drip everywhere. I left mine sit like that until after I drained the oil from the pan but may replace the cartridge completely prior to draining for less mess. You'll see in a few steps. Thoughts? After removing the cartridge, you can see there is some oil left in the seat where the cartridge sits on the motor. Looks like less than 1/4 cup. I ended up soaking it up with some towels. This is what the cartridge will look like when you take it out. Pull the carboard cartridge off. The middle plastic rod/arm stays on so just grab the cartridge and pull. It will pop off easy. Here is what comes in the new Oil Filter box. Put on new cartridge and replace O-Rings. You can see where the pink rings are in this pic so you know which ones to swap out. The small one can be a pain so you may need something small/dull to help jimmy it on. Put the oil filter assembly back on and tighten according to spec (24lbs/ft torque). Draining the Oil Pan: I usually take the fill cap off the top of the motor to help with draining. Due to my issue with gushing oil, I may leave this on. Any thoughts? Crawl under the Edge and you will see the yellow drain plug. This can be turned by hand. If too tough by hand, you can put a 3/8" ratchet on it. BE CAREFUL.....the oil comes out FAST. Here you can see the mess I made after the oil gushed out fast. After the oil has drained, re-attach the drain plug. Re-filling The Motor: Put the new oil in according to what the manual says. When complete, put the cap back on and start the Edge. I always let it run for a minute. Then turn off and leave it parked on a level surface. After 10 minutes check oil level using dipstick. Clean up.
  2. There is no cover or shroud. When you slide under the Edge, the drain plug is easily accessible. I'll be doing a write-up later with pics on changing the oil.
  3. I have a 1 car garage. I have the option but never use it. Could I have it back me in to the garage?
  4. They can say you hit something all they want. It is on them to prove whatever is wrong with vehicle is a result of your doing/abuse. In my experience, with new cars with no modifications, they are quick to resolve these issues via warranty so don't worry. Also try this...when driving through your neighborhood, roll down your windows and see if you can hear the sound while accelerating. Usually I hear this sound when I accelerate a little driving slow and the noise bounces off the curb.
  5. Exactly what I hear once in a while: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/18796-is-a-sputtering-noise-normal-27l-sport/ I still haven't made it to the dealer
  6. I thought you only get the incentives that are available at time of delivery. Here is an example from Ford's site: "Current college students and recent college graduates who purchase or lease an eligible new vehicle and take retail delivery from dealer stock by January 4, 2016, are eligible. Special-order vehicles must arrive and be delivered by January 4, 2016. Vehicles delivered after January 4, 2016, are not eligible for $500 Student Bonus Cash. Not compatible with A/Z/X/D Plan. See dealer for eligible vehicles and complete details."
  7. If anything like my Mustang, the shroud will have some text on it saying to remove it to change oil. With arrows pointing to the screws/fasteners that will need to be loosened.
  8. 6 quarts. It is listed in the Owner's Manual.
  9. They would have to cut the rear valance on the Sport since there was no option for Towing from the factory.
  10. A damp microfiber is what I use to clean/dust all the time. If that doesn't work to get off whatever stain on the leather/vinyl/plastic, I may spray a light cleaner on it. You may be able to find a simple vinyl cleaner at your automotive store. You want something that isn't going to leave a greasy mess behind they call "protectant" like the old school armor all. For protection on dash/vinyl/doors (everything non-cloth or the seats) I use Aerospace 303. It does a good job of cleaning and protecting. Doesn't leave a heavy greasy presence behind. Gives it is new sheen to it without being shiny. As for the 'leather' seats, everyone has their opinion. I just wipe down with the damp microfiber and leave it at that.
  11. Or see how much the Sport seats would run you
  12. There is zero truth to that nonsense. LOL seats in a car "adopting" to your body from the factory. Not happening. Think about how that would work out with Rental companies....would cause an issue. Your dealer sounds like a snake and is trying to convince you to get the vehicle even though you have a problem with the seats. At this point I'd look in to using a 3rd party upholster to see if they would be able to custom fit something for you.
  13. And there is also a setting where you can set it to auto cool/heat depending on temp or go with your last climate control setting. It also turns on the seat cooler if you have that option when it is hot out. I look forward to the winter to have remote start again. Really missed it in my Mustang.
  14. I ended up going with the Yakima Q Towers and crossbars for mine. Just under $300. And they pop on and off within 5 minutes so I don't leave it on all the time. Just when I need them. I like the clean look of the Sport without rails.
  15. The one good thing is my salesguy called me after hours from his personal phone and said: "Listen man I know you are pissed, but we are both learning here. The 15s have only been on the lots for a week or so. I figure since I have no problems doing these things with most of our vehicles, Ford wouldn't change it up. But they did. So going forward I won't be telling people they can pop on rails for a few hundred bucks." The dude was genuine. He called me the next day with another vehicle option that I was considering. Then said "Again, I'm learning here and I see these are residualizing real nice so I can actually get you in to a Sport with everything you want (Minus the roof rails which was a non issue at that point) for the same lease payment/terms.)." SOLD So I went from grabbing a 2014 that was discounted and optioned nice (Limited) to a 2015 SEL that didn't have many bells and whistles to a 2015 SEL with some real nice options to a 2015 Sport AWD with a lot of nice stuff for all around the same lease payment. A lot of stress through during the process. I give the guy a lot of credit for continuing to work with me because I walked a few times.
  16. They can add it. He'll just get another FOB. My dealer told me they could add roof rails to the SEL that didn't have factory rails. True for 2014....not true for 2015. I found this out by researching it myself and then called him back furious.
  17. Get a sealant, nice coat of wax, or both on that paint ASAP.
  18. Not that I am aware of. When I was looking at the SEL, they were going to add on the remote start and the only option was a separate FOB unfortunately.
  19. Dealer installed is different from Factory (which you show on the FOB ). Dealer installed will require a separate FOB on the keychain.
  20. Remote Start will require a certain module they'll need to order and install. If it is backordered, then there isn't much you can do. What I would do is ask them exactly what is not available. What parts are required and what parts are not available? And then when they estimate they'll get those parts. THEN you call another dealer and ask to order the parts and see what they say....or check with the Parts guy on this site and he'll give you the truth. What I hate about dealers is they will lie to you in order to get you in the car and out the door. Then apologize when they can't deliver the remote start within 30 days. I had a sales guy do just this but I kept calling him out on each and every part/option he said "Was not available for a month" or something like that.
  21. The 21's on the White Sport are sharp. Could use a little less wheel gap. I wonder what replacement tires will run for the 21s.
  22. I'm switching to Mobil 1 or Penzoil Fully Synthetic 5W-30 during my first oil change. And the Motorcraft Oil Filter.
