  1. I suspect there might be a wide variety of opinion here, but if you listen to your sound system using the surround sound mode on your Sony system how have you got the "sound settings" adjusted? Try as I may I can't get the bass so that it does not dominate the total sound profile. I find I can get a pretty satisfactory end result in the "Stereo mode", but it lacks some of the (for lack of a better term) "force" that the surround mode offers, though the Stereo mode does seem to respond better to tonal adjustment. To me when in the surround sound mode, the tone adjustments don't seem to make much difference to the overall sound. Is this just me?
  2. I remember as a kid the pride I felt when the "Men in Blue" took on "The Commodore" Enzo Ferrari that day in June of 1966. Here is a story that if you are into car racing history you might dig. This is Ford GT40 P/1046, and it's currently undergoing a 20-month restoration process. The winner of the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans. 3. I am probably not the best person to answer this question, but I find that it adds a nice bit of stiffness to the otherwise soft suspension. Others may disagree.
  4. I can say that so far (it's still brand new) that I am very pleased with my 2016. My dealership experience (Richmond Ford) was / is very good also. I came from an elderly S-10 Blazer which is worlds & decades away from what this new Edge offers, so I am slowly figuring it all out and marvel at the difference in the two vehicles. I find the Edge to be much more isolating and I find the steering to be somewhat numb, but it is very quiet, so it can be a welcome isolation especially if you have your favorite music cranked up. I suppose there will be some here that will find fault in the sound system, but I on the other hand find it to be fine. For me it just required a bit of tinkering with to get the settings where the sound quality suit my tastes. I am still in the "mode" where the vehicle is learning my driving style so the tranny shift points still seem a bit uneven. I am not doing this system any favors as I sometime drive it like my S2000 which must cause it to wonder WTF? I will say that the panel fitment is very good, but the exterior paint condition could be better because of the degree of orange peel present, but I can live with that. Maybe I'll have more to find issue with in the future, but right now I am very happy with it.
  5. JHB; Here is one for you! Remember the sound and the smell of these? They are hard to forget! Dress rehearsal for this: http://foxtrotalpha.jalopnik.com/hear-the-mechanical-symphony-of-the-first-air-force-one-1766345459
  6. I am starting to consider a small boat trailer as an alternative to the roof rack. I've priced a couple and they are about the same price as the roof racks and I would not have to dead lift my +- 70 # canoe. (56# without the stuff I've added) The more I think about this idea the better I like it. It will make for a good project to tailor it to accommodate the canoe, trolling motor, battery, tackle, etc. etc. http://www.harborfreight.com/600-lb-capacity-boat-trailer-with-8-inch-wheels-and-tires-5002.html#
  7. Which setting can I use to get fresh air into the interior without using the AC? Or maybe the question should be how do I know if the AC is on? (aside from the obvious tell tale of cold air coming from the vents) This is on a model with dual zone climate control.
  8. Initial thoughts: 200 miles driven I have to say I am very pleased with the condition of this as delivered vehicle. I am coming from a long history of 4X4 trucks so my comparison will be coming from that view point. As of now I have not noticed any quality gaffs with the possible exception of one. (more on that later) This vehicle is very quiet as long as the windows are up. This changes if the back windows are lowered more than a couple of inches. There are a major vortices generated from the side mirrors that creates a pressure pulse that I find painful to my ears at a speed any more than 30 mph or so. Not a big deal by any means, just something I noticed. The ride quality is very nice, but coming from trucks I feel a bit removed from the seat of the pants feel of driving provided by those harder riding vehicles. To me the steering feels a bit numb, which adds to the feeling of isolation while driving. It is almost like driving an easy chair down the road while sitting in an anechoic chamber. Fit and Finish Mine was put together very nicely with panel relationships I would consider better than normal. The one area that I alluded to in the above paragraph is that of the condition of paint finish. To be specific, the presence of ā€œOrange Peelā€ on most, if not all of the vertical surfaces. Mine has what I would consider a bit worse than I would have expected, though I had seen more than a few 2015’s having a similar finish. I also found a ā€œpaint pimpleā€ on the roof as if a larger piece of dust or something else fell on it before the paint was applied. You have to be looking for it to see it so I am not too concerned about it. I have only found a couple of small areas on the interior that caught my eye, but nothing really to complain about. All in all I am very happy with my new Edge and I will be interested to see how it ages as I put on the miles. I must say that all the ā€œElectronic fluffā€ has me a bit anxious, but as this is the trend in today’s vehicles I will have to hope that the durability has been built into these systems. I still have not figured out how to operate some of the systems in this vehicle, but I know I can count on you folks in this regard. More later after I have put some real mileage on this starship. Edited for one more item item... For me the paddle shifter stalks are about 1/2" too short. I have long fingers so I am a bit surprised this would be an issue for me, but it is.
  9. I checked in with a local dealer and he told me Yakima is changing over to this new Streamline / Baseline System. He said that he was told to discount the "Q" system stuff @ a discount just to move it out. He said that Yakima did not offer to cover his loss. He was not happy! I asked for a cost comparison (through his store) and he quoted $364.(complete Q system) + $55. for the locks vs. $590. + $55. for locks.(Complete Streamline / Baseline system) Pretty steep delta. I will wait until the new system is shown on amazon to see how the new system is priced there.
  10. Sorry man, my wife did all the hard stuff (sewing) and she had enough with just doing mine. You could do the same sort of thing with one sheet of vinyl (no cuts) without the edge seams and tack some velcro in the back to hold it in place.
  11. I have tire psi and rpm, but no engine temp. How do I get engine temp?
  12. Am I right that there is no dash display available for oil pressure, engine temp (coolant) and battery voltage?
  13. Mine will stay on for the entire fishing season. Apr.-Nov. so if I can reduce the wind noise it will be worth the extra bucks. It will be interesting to see how much this system will cost, and how long it will take to be available through a Amazon vendor.
  14. I just contacted Yakima and they will have a new "streamline system" that will fit our 2015-2016 Edge and should reduce the wind noise of the round bar Q-system. It is so new that it is not up on their website (in detail) yet, but I was told today it should be up in the next week or so. I was also told that it was a bit more expensive than the Q-system but not by a lot. The customer service rep. said that the towers are a little shorter than the Q-towers, but are tall enough for a Yak or canoe to clear the shark fin antennae on our vehicle. This is a brief overview from their Spring 2016 catalog. http://yakima.epaperflip.com/v/Spring-Summer-2016/#?page=4
  15. I've owned several trucks (Blazers & Explorer) over the last several decades while also owning a bunch of dogs. I discovered that for a modest cost and a little effort I could cover the rear deck and the backs of the second row seats making them a bit more dog proof. I try to use a fabric backed vinyl in a color that either matches the interior carpet or comes close. My local fabric store was going out of business soon so my choices were limited and my vinyl color selection for my new Edge is not my first choice, but the price was right. I got five yards (much more than needed for the job) for under $25. All my other projects used only the vinyl with velcro sewn to the back side so that it grabs the carpeted areas. For this job I found that the carpet covered fiber board lends itself to the use of a stapler and was pretty easy to cover it. The seat backs will require a bit more effort to cut the vinyl and make it look good and also attach the velcro. The attached picture shows the work done so far. Again, the color of the vinyl is a bit odd, but I can live with it.
  16. I have used them for many years for the sole purpose of leaving the windows down an inch or so while the vehicle is parked in direct sunlight for extended periods. (while I am out on the river fishing)They allow the interior to breathe without worrying about rain entering the vehicle in case it rains. They (in my experience) will sometimes create some additional wind noise, but not to unacceptable levels.
  17. If you have used these ventshades which did you select and why? One is "in channel" while the other is "low profile". http://www.amazon.com/Auto-Ventshade-894035-Seamless-Ventvisor/dp/B011E9TN9Y/ref=sr_1_4?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1457562890&vehicle=2016-54-5858------------2-0&sr=1-4&ymm=2016%3Aford%3Aedge&keywords=ventshades http://www.amazon.com/Auto-Ventshade-194930--Channel-Ventvisor/dp/B011E9TOS4/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1457562890&vehicle=2016-54-5858------------2-0&sr=1-1&ymm=2016%3Aford%3Aedge&keywords=ventshades
  18. Pictures don't really do this color justice!
  19. I did not notice this issue on mine, but will look more closely to see if I have the same thing. On early inspection and after putting 50 miles on it I find it to be very quiet and free of rattles and road noise. I expect after putting more mileage on it I will pick up some, but let's see. Here are a few pictures.
  20. Nice! I am picking mine up tomorrow and have fingers crossed in hopes that it will be in good shape. I will post up some pictures and a pick up review / report tomorrow PM.
