  1. Enigma-2 Again good timing, a month to the day since I took your advice. My wife usually drives the Edge and last night asked if I'd like to clean it up before a trip she's taking this weekend. So, the sunroof has been closed since my last post as far as I know. I hopped in and immediately opened the sunroof, and was very pleased to see the gasket stayed on the rail! Thanks again for the sound advice
  2. it should be under your dash on the fuse panel on a label lots of youtube videos showing location
  3. Interesting that PTU is not on your lists given the issues and attention it gets here. Looks like you are the poster child of how to get your moneys worth out of our rides!
  4. Is that in the manual anywhere? I'm with enigma-2, this "feature" shouldn't be a surprise to us, or something we have to discover through trial and error. But......... maybe we could use it to activate and under hood task light
  5. Chefduane - I was considering doing this too for a hood light. Back in the day, the older Chevy's had a small mounted retractable light that you could also pull from the housing and place wherever you wanted when working. You can still find them on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/60S-70S-80S-CHEVY-TRUCK-FORD-MOPAR-JEEP-UNDER-HOOD-RETRACTABLE-TROUBLE-LIGHT-/232323282318?fits=Make%3AChevrolet&hash=item36178bf58e:g:7ncAAMXQgfZRCYIR&vxp=mtr. Good idea but now pretty old school with the brightness of LED's. But I was thinking, isn't there already a hood ajar switch that you could of wired to for on/off? Just curious. I see it in the parts list as HOOD SWITCH - FORD (1X4Z-14018-BA). Think it mounted on the fenderwell.
  6. The timing here is perfect for me on my 2011 Limited. I have the exact issue enigma-2 had except on the passenger side and took the same steps about a week ago (got the roof to finally close with the accordion gasket staying in the rail). I have the same deformity (kink) from who knows how long it was pinched like that since I bought it as a CPO. So hoping for the same success.............. Need a good hot day to see if the heat warms it up enough to reshape itself and stay in place Great post
  7. I purchased my 2011 Limited as a CPO in December of 2015 and it still had the A4 SD card. The A6 SD card on eBay was $48 so I grabbed it and it worked great. Not sure what updates the A7 gets you for the extra $35 beyond A6, but I've had no problems traveling in all of the Northeast including buzzing around Manhattan
  8. So what is this part then? 5F9Z7446002AAA Says it fits 2015 https://parts.lakelandford.com/p/Ford__edge/Cargo-net-hook-Cargo-net-upper-retainer-Cover-panel-retainer-Hook-Net-hook-Rear-pillar-trim-retainer-Tie-down-hook--LEFT-SIDE-RIGHT-SIDE/52695453/5F9Z7446002AAA.html
  9. I bought the OEM grill and installed it 6 months ago. Looks just as nice today. I like the contrast between the matte primer finish on the grill and and the glossy body paint. Sets it off
  10. as a follow up to Tacyon's post, I believe the reason for this "safety feature" originated on hybrid vehicles but extends to all push button start cars. Owners of these cars (think Prius) were pulling into their garages running as electrics and without any sound were forgetting to turn the car off and just hopping out. Later that night when they were fast asleep, the battery in the car became drained enough for the car to start to recharge it in the closed garage causing the carbon monoxide issue. There have been several deaths and lawsuits against 10 major car makers http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/cars/hidden-dangers-of-push-button-start
  11. So why wouldn't we just replace the PTU with middle east version if you have to replace at your own expense? The part number if correct is listed below in red: AT4Z-7251-B. Looks like about $595 for the part online How to maintain it is covered here by Ford and the extended warranty (with thanks to a thread here by "thirdgenlxi" in 2013) Peter F. Bandoske Ford Motor Company Service Engineering Operations Manager P. O. Box 1904 Ford Customer Service Division Dearborn, Michigan 48121 USA May 22, 2013 TO: Export & Growth Operations Dealers SUBJECT: Customer Satisfaction Program 13M01 Certain 2007 through 2012 Model Year Edge and MKX Vehicles Equipped with All-Wheel-Drive, Ordered for Certain Middle East Markets - Extended Warranty Coverage on Power Transfer Unit. PROGRAM TERMS This program extends the coverage of the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) to 10 years of service from the Warranty Start Date, or 190,000 kilometers, whichever occurs first. If a vehicle has already accumulated more than 190,000 kilometers, this coverage will last through November 30, 2013. Coverage is automatically transferred to subsequent owners. VEHICLES COVERED BY THIS PROGRAM Certain 2007-2012 model year Edge and MKX vehicles equipped with AWD, built at the Oakville Assembly Plant, and ordered for Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Yemen, Jordan, Iraq, or Lebanon. Affected vehicles are identified in OASIS. REASON FOR PROVIDING ADDITIONAL COVERAGE Extended high speed vehicle operation in high ambient temperatures, in conjunction with off-road driving in sand, may result in sludging of the fluid within the PTU and/or seal leaks. PTU sludging typically produces symptoms such as a whining noise while driving or clunk/harsh engagements when shifting to drive or reverse. Continued driving in these environmental conditions may damage the PTU and result in a loss of AWD functionality. Affected vehicles can still be driven in FWD mode if the PTU function is compromised. SERVICE ACTION If dealer diagnosis indicates that the PTU requires replacement, dealers are authorized to replace it with a new Middle East Service PTU that contains a drain plug, which enables convenient fluid replacement at regular intervals. Dealers are also to apply a sticker to the inside cover of the vehicle Owner Guide that details revised fluid replacement maintenance intervals of 30,000 kilometers for normal use, and 15,000 kilometers for severe duty/sand driving use. At the conclusion of the repair, dealers are to provide vehicle owners with an Owner Information Card, which details the revised fluid replacement maintenance intervals. If dealer diagnosis indicates the PTU does not require replacement, but that seal leaks are present, dealers are authorized to replace the affected seals under this program. This service must be performed at no charge to the vehicle owner. Service Interval Stickers and Cards will be shipped to dealers the week of June 3rd, marked attention Service Manager. ļ›™ Copyright 2013 Ford Motor Company Note: 2013 Model Year Edge and MKX vehicles equipped with AWD and ordered for Middle East operation, have PTUā€™s equipped with a drain plug. A Service Interval Sticker should be applied to the vehicle Owner Guide and Owner Information Card should be provided to the customer. 12. Is the complete redesigned PTU w/drain backward compatible with 2011-2014? Although my PTU was replaced about a year ago under CPO, it still seems like it's a ticking time bomb under there. Especially for those of us that plan to obtain all the value of our purchases and drive cars well into the 200K+ mile range Knowing that the next PTU replacement has a drain would bring some piece of mind, since Ford appears to have no plan to own up to this and extend the PTU warranty
  13. By all Edges, I assume you don't mean earlier years. Those wouldn't fit Here's a pretty good site for bolt patterns: https://www.wheel-size.com/size/ford/edge/
  14. looks to me like that would need to come off to replace that gasket. And I'm guessing that would mean removing the liftgate panel. I dug these files out of my manual for the 2011 Limited. Should be similar I'd presume Ford Edge Liftgate Latch Removal.pdf Ford Edge Liftgate Panel Removal.pdf
  15. wow, I'd think the camera would have no idea what direction the car is going, so how could it be at fault? It's just told to turn on when the transmission thinks it's reverse
  16. So are you saying my 2011 Limited built in Oakville, Ontario Canada should have DRL? It's not mentioned on the window sticker. It would be great news it that were true!!
  17. Here's how to enable it https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207227
  18. Are you implying that the 302A package includes the Soundscreen windshield? I also have a 2011 Limited with the 302A but no markings on my windshield say Soundscreen. Do I have it? The brochure and my window sticker say these options: Available Rapid Spec Rapid Spec 301A Panoramic Vista RoofTM + HID headlamps + voice-activated Navigation System with single-CD/MP3 player, SD card for map and POI storage, and integrated SIRIUS Traffic and SIRIUS Travel Link with introductory 6-month subscription + Driver Entry Package includes anti-theft perimeter alarm, Intelligent Access with push-button start, power liftgate and Remote Start System Rapid Spec 302A Includes all content of Rapid Spec 301A + adaptive cruise control and collision warning with brake support + Vision Package includes BLISĀ® (Blind Spot Information System) with cross-traffic alert and rain-sensing wipers
  19. I just confirmed I downloaded Sync2-3.8 on 5/16/16
  20. I found this on the Carlite site. It lists the windshield part numbers that have Soundscreen: http://carlite.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/Acoustic-Apps_Jan_20131.pdf
  21. seemed like a real deal for my local "stealer" Bet they don't do many flushes............
  22. Thanks for all the great videos from MACTFORDEDGE! Makes life easier for us DIYer's I just did the "fluid transfer" on my 2011 Limited with 55K miles. Gave the dealer a shot while they were doing my oil change today (coupon.....). Asked them how much for the transmission flush..... response was "$199 plus labor, so would run you about $249." Gave em a chance...... so drove to the Valvoline store 1/4 mile away that has done my oil changes for years and it was $149 plus a $10 off coupon. They rolled out the same unit as MACT had in his video. Thanks again MACT! Here's a pic of the Valvoline MaxLife ATF going in (left) and the old coming out (right). 15 minutes out the door
  23. OK, time for some help. Of the 19 pieces, TJM623 had 6 pieces left after the install, I'm down to these 3. Any thoughts?
