  1. just checking back after 3 years to say that updating to the 2013 panel with a physical button clearly solved my problem - the problem has never returned
  2. Heard my brake booster hissing last week and I was dreading having to DIY it. Took it to the dealer today under the extended 10 year warranty. Turns out I'm at 9 years 10 months........ just made it! Parts are now on order, and they're ordering parts for the door latch 19N09 recall too! Feeling lucky!!
  3. Follow up to this install 2 years later: I had one of my puddle lights fail this weekend - bummer - but glad to say that Dan at Daytime Brightlites stood behind his product and is sending me a replacement. Great to know there are honorable people left in this world. Thanks Dan, much appreciated They've got some pretty cool products, and I won't hesitate to use him again
  4. Sorry, haven't logged in for a while........ Replacing the entire panel with one from a 2013 which has real button is the solution. Clearly Ford had an issue with the capactive touch panels in the 2011-12 I haven't had any issues since I replaced it!
  5. My location on the map was frozen to a fixed point from a few days ago. Nav was useless. Thanks to the forum and some Youtube searching, I followed a few other blog fixes and took a shot at replacing the GPS antennae module (DT4Z-10E893- mentioned here $48 shipped). IT had fixed a few others with this symptom The MKX video above was not correct for my 2011 Edge. The closest thing to being correct was this very vague video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBE9lPqbFyY. (but thanks to the poster of that, it's still helpful) In reviewing both of the videos, a reasonable method to remove the cluster was: pull the left side trim off the console (shown in the first video) using a non marring pry tool, pull the plastic housings up and out on both sides of the steering wheel (push button start switch on right, and seat memory on left) with the housing dangling, remove 2 7mm screws hold in the trim piece around the cluster the material that covers the gap between the adjustable steering wheel and the trim pops out easily at the attach point above the steering wheel (grab the material near the steering wheel attach point and pull up. Pops right out) remove the trim piece 2 7mm screws hold in the cluster after that, there's access to the GPS Antennae module. It really helped me to have the new part in hand to be able to identify it tucked up on the underside of the dash and to see how it mounts into the fixed holder . Pull left and up to remove (right side fits into a slot in the holder, on the install I bent the left side out enough to snap over the housing to hold it in place) End result - GPS location now works, NAV now functioning!
  6. I just got a control panel with the all same features/buttons as mine but out of a 2013. Plug and play
  7. I'm 6'2" and have been routinely banging the top of my head for a few years. But last week I hit my forehead!! Game changer. So I measured how high the liftgate was opening....68 1/2". Lift support pair was $29.34 on Amazon Prime for the same Monroe's MacT used. An easy DIY job anyway, but made even easier by MacT's video (thanks MacT!). BTW, if your'e doing this by yourself, my liftgate surprised me and dropped as soon as I pooped off the top of the first support. Wow, these things are shot! And the liftgate is pretty heavy. And puting the support on with one hand while trying to hold it up is not really an option. So I suggest you grab something long handled (I used a the telescoping pole I wash windows with and adjusted it to the perfect length to prop it open - but just about anything 6' long will do). A breeze to change by yourself after that So new lift supports installed in less than 5 min. Now opens to 72 1/2". Now I'm back to like new - factory settings - just hitting the top of my head
  8. here's some earlier discussion: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/22497-michelin-premier-ltx-rapid-wear-v-rated/
  9. any way to jumper the P/S over to the D/S to see if the P/S controls will work the on the D/S BDA? Or did you already try that?
  10. Chefduane - I also have a 2011 and your post made me look that up on my Edge also. It does show as open for me too. But when I attempt to look up FSA 12M02 (SB-10052069-8195), it says it limits repairs to 5 years from the warranty start date (which would imply we're no longer covered). Did you find a later supplement? I'm not having any issues, but would like the comfort of knowing it would be if ever needed
  11. Just lists Valve Covers as a covered item (items in BOLD are covered)
  12. My CPO Powertrain Limited Warranty (7yr, 100K miles) says it covers "valve covers". Is it a stretch to think this would be repaired under the CPO warranty?
  13. you can download any image/picture you want to set as the background. ANY image is better than the default.......... https://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-technology/myford-touch/settings/setting-a-wallpaper-display.html
  14. Isn't it a gift of words how the Ford Service Bulletin calls it "this concern" rather than "this problem" and therefore doesn't take ownership of their design issue......
  15. Thanks, great video. Ford Quicklane has been doing my oil changes and vehicle inspection and hasn't mentioned this as an issue. Does this happen in all vehicles? I'll have to pull that apart this weekend and take a look. Seems like a simple fix, and might as well do it while you're changing the plugs since it's already off (which is on my list already to do)
  16. Gbczyk84 - I've had my2011 Limited since 40K, now at 72K, so plugs soon. Jjust looking to keep up with needed updates and improvements What is the valve cover update?
  17. here's the link to Levittown Ford showing mirrors for a 2016 SEL (not sure what you have). Price depends on options in your mirror, but I see a power folding chrome on that's $479! ($125 more than any of the others). Benny discounts from there https://parts.levittownfordparts.com/?p=catalog&mode=search&search_in=all&search_str=mirror
  18. I had the same issue on my 2011. After searching ebay and salvage yards with many near hits to my fully optioned mirror (electrically fine), I ended up getting it online at Levittown (a sponsor of this site). Best online price, and likely a discount if you reach out to their thread. Benny was very helpful. Mine actually came with the correct painted black cover I paid $315 (with no sales tax in my state)
  19. why don't you swap the actuators between the 2 Edges's and wait to see which one has the problem? Sounds like a luxury to have a twin to trade toys with
  20. thanks enigma-2. I'm unfortunately too familiar with tire date codes........... that would be an entirely different post...... Of course I'd prefer to know there's no date code issue "presale" and I'm a guessing that info isn't going to be readily available in a TIrerack online purchase or or even if I call them to place an order
  21. well, if I go that route, I'll make sure they tell me the date code before purchase!
  22. good question, but hard to believe they'd have been on the shelf at Tirerack for more than 2 years?
  23. thanks for the compare link. Interesting, it's from Oct of 2015 and says: The new Michelin Premier LTX is now replacing the Latitude Tour HP in the Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season category. But I still see them for sale on Tirerack, so the Tour HP's are still available
  24. I just picked up a full set of mint 2015 Mustang GT 18" wheels that I plan to put on my 2011 Limited. Being an old school car guy, I hate those crap aluminum clad wheels. I've purchased the correct lug nuts, hub rings and sensors and plan to get a new set of tires and make these my summer rims. That brings me to tires I bought the Edge as a CPO with 40K miles on the clock and they delivered it with 4 new Michelin Lattitude Tour HP's P245/60R18. I've now got 71K, and they still have plenty of tread left. I'm thinking they'll make 60K miles easily. The tires have been rotated every 5K miles (with each oil change) My question is why wouldn't I buy another set of these? Yes, they are more pricy, but they're still quiet with no wear issues. Does anyone have a better recommendation?
  25. I had the same issue on my 2011. After searching ebay and salvage yards with many near hits to my fully optioned mirror (electrically fine), I ended up getting it online at Levittown (a sponsor of this site).
